Really? Maybe for the First Half. In the Second Half, Merrimack(who won 14-9) shut them down.lorin wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 9:00 pmThey looked good tonight.gymman1031 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 8:03 pm Cheering hard for Coach Reppert at Holy Cross. The biggest thing I took from yesterdays game was the size of Holy Cross and Merrimack. They are small. I know size isn't the end all and be all but Holy Cross have 5 guys over 200 lbs and one is a goalie (looking at roster). Size is something you cant teach. Before I posted I even went to look at other Patriot League schools and for example Navy has 20 over 200lbs, Lehigh 17, Army 16 (w/o Freshman weights!) Bucknell 15, Lafayette 15, Colgate 14, Loyola 14, and BU has 9 (surprised so few). I don't see how Holy Cross competes against these teams. By the end of a game they are just going to be worn down vs the other team not being pushed around as much.gymman1031 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 12:19 amReally? Maybe for the First Half. Well, we can hope that will change as more and more of the talent becomes Reppert's. But still, those size excuses can only last for so long.B10KeepsGrowing wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 1:12 pmThe biggest thing I took from yesterdays game was the size of Holy Cross and Merrimack. Without getting in a breast for tat, I would just say I disagree that size is put down on the list. Coaches love size (yes they love speed, stamina and strength as well). Are there many other factors - yes, is it the only factor - No. I cant get into self reporting of weight and the like bc I don't have the knowledge to speak to that but size matters and when you see teams like Maryland, Virginia, Yale, Duke, OSU etc . . on the field they look like men compared to what I saw and see in some other teams. I will say I would have loved to see Maryland step on the scale before last years championship run bc they looked like men and with many players over 200lbs with speed and strength as well and I would not say "fat". Last as a father of a Middie (who played at 190 and was in shape) there is no way that these guys are Md are under 200 as they made my son look like a HS player. At the end of the day, I was making a general observation of what I saw and I stand by what my eyes saw and Holy Cross look undersized.Penikese wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 5:38 pmgymman1031 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 1:50 pmWell, we can hope that will change as more and more of the talent becomes Reppert's. Size is over-rated IMHO. Give me speed, stamina, and strength (and I think we'd both take skill over any other attribute).
So your analysis shows that the best two teams in the PL have the fewest big (fat?) kids? The team with the most size lost in 1st rd. of the PL playoff. Perhaps that's not making the point you wanted to make
Maryland had 7 (200+) last year, didn't seem to hurt them. They had 6 in 2021..
HC has 7 kids on 2023 roster at 200 lbs or over (not 5). Their problem are legion, but I would put size down the list. (MC won the game with 3 200+ players after beating Hofstra Sunday w/ 11 200+ players).
I just noticed the first sentence and needless to say I typed something different which must have been picked up via a censor. As those who are familiar with the phrase I originally typed, its an idiom that I didn't think would be edited and now the sentence looked very odd.B10KeepsGrowing wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 11:37 amWithout getting in a breast for tat, I would just say I disagree that size is put down on the list. Oh my
Won by four last year and I feel like Lehigh is better this year and Navy is worse.
Army maybe the best PL team no one is talking about.Farfromgeneva wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 8:36 pmWon by four last year and I feel like Lehigh is better this year and Navy is worse.
