Re: VMI 2021/2022
I was told Navy created two teams which both contained “leaders and starters” for each position. The only deviation from this, I was told, was for the UVA team, their left handed attack could not play do they moved up one from the VMI team.sinman6 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 5:04 pm "Remember Navy had already split their team for one half VS VMI and the other half VS UVA. Multiple USNA parents told me at the pre-game (hey, I am a USNA grad so I felt no problem going to their tent) the team split was not starters vs non-starters so not knowing any better I will take it at their word."
not sure what this means... what kind of rosters/subs did Navy run for the scrimmages? Sounds like you are suggesting that they had two different teams for the UVA and VMI scrimmages, and that neither roster included a disproportionate amount of (predicted) starters - is that right?
I plead ignorance to their substitution pattern. While My son plays for VMI so I was actually paying more attention to what they were doing. Pretty sure no one played both games as each team came on separate buses.

Nice job taking a close one after the close St Bonny loss. Sign of improvement pulling close ones out.
Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

Re: VMI 2021/2022
VMI first conference win (ever). Just before the conference implodes. Goes over the betting line over under for the year (3 over the 2.5)
Nice win.
Nice win.
Re: VMI 2021/2022
Didn't see the game but was told by a spectator that goalie Lisselli played great again. 19 saves. Great to see Richmond take down Virginia too.
Re: VMI 2021/2022
Never just one thing as you know. I saw 4 keys. First and foremost the shift to second FO man who then went 16 of 22. Second was the goalie as noted above. Third was M John Bass’ probably best game. Fourth was a very sound game by poles forcing poor shots late in the shot clock.

Re: VMI 2021/2022
Season Summary.
Positive season for the Keydets all around. Four wins. Made SOCON tourny for the first time.
1. Assists/game up by 1 assist per game
2. Caused TO's down 1 per game but still 13th in nation, their best stat
3. Clears up 8%
4. FO wins up 6%
5. Ground balls up 2.8 per game
6. Man Down def down slightly (2.8%) but 25th in nation, their second best stat
7. Man up Off up 8%
8. PPG up 2.1 goals/game
9. Saves per game up 1 per game
10. Scoring Def better by 2.7 goals per game
11. Shot % down by 1.7% (Needs work)
12. TO per game down by .7/game
They are the youngest DI team with 20 FR. on roster and started, on average, 4 FR. per game from the season midpoint. They cannot have graduate transfers in the most graduate transfer laden conference in DI (8 of 13 All SOCON first team players were GR or 5th year seniors using eligibility year) Of the remaining 5 first team players 3 are red shirts (another advantage VMI cannot take advantage of) so that left one two players. One from Jax and VMI's Hartley Jordan.
Only two starters (SSDM & attack) and a second line middie are lost to graduation. I have no idea how many are in next year's class. Last year IL showed 14 and 20 made roster. This year IL shows 14 again so who knows? A lot less Virginia flavor except three D poles (2 FR & 1 JR) all from Virginia and may be best unit on the team and a lot of Texas/Georgia/Colorado/Florida.
Things are looking up. MAAC here we come. RAH VA MIL!
