Yes! It's a lot "easier" to get AA recognition on a top 5 team. Tierney made Hofstra relevant.
Did he made the team better?
Of course.
I guess the kid on LIU should be AA he made that team relevant
can i assume you like nichtern there?
and that you'll similarly be on carraway soon?
Believe me I understand how people that haven't seen all 3 play every game would pick the kid that shoots from his ass and makes bounce passes for assist

Tierney against teams 500 and above 3.71 points per game, against teams that made tournament 2.5 per game
Tierney SH SH% SOG SOG% TO
138 31% 85 62% 4 per game
Nichtern 78 33% 54 69% 2.5
Carraway 153 33% 100 65% 2.6

Nichtern against 500 and above 4.77 points per game, against team in tournament 5.0 per game
Carraway 3.5 2.6

Just saying if kids are going to work their ass off all summer and fall to get better year to year. maybe people on committee can respect that and put a little more time in selecting AA teams.

Nichtern is not better then Sowers or Tierney. Third team is an appropriate spot for Nichtern.

Why is Tierney better than him? Don’t disagree on Sowers but I’d love to hear the logic as to why Tierney is definitely better

Nichtern is very good but he disappears a tad too often to be a 2nd teamer, IMO. He double bageled in two critical games against Loyola and Navy this year, and he was also blanked against Penn in the 2019 playoffs. To be considered one of the top 6 attackmen in the country you can't really afford to have those vanishing acts.

I don't disagree but Tierney had 1 goal and 1 assist against Delaware, 0 goals and 1 assist against Drexel, and then double bagel against Delaware in CAA SF's. 6 goals in key final 5 games for Hofstra down the stretch trying to make the tournament and 3 of them were against Fairfield. He vanished too.

The semi final game vs Delaware was Tierney's best game of the year. Played completely selfless and high IQ lacrosse. Delaware's game plan was to shadow Tierney with Owen Grant as well as tilt the field to slide early. Instead of pushing the issue Tierney drew the attention moved the ball and Hofstra feasted on quality matchups on opposite side. McIntosh was running by a shorty with no help all day. Tierney did not disappear. He played team lacrosse.

If you watched First Loyola game it was clear game plan was Nichtern in crease all game. He does not coach the team. And they won 12 t 7. I think u new that

I'm not sure when the selections were actually made, but I'd have a tough time with the 1st team pick going to McElroy...going into the tournament he certainly had sky high saves %, but no longer the best of the goalies facing toughest competition. But maybe it was selected earlier. Definitely in the top cadre though.
Whilst there are several deserving goalies, I disagree with this. You can't let one recent game override the body of work, and he was hung out to dry by his defense against UVA. He's still right at the top of the save% and GAA leaders, and he's terrific out of the cage (I believe he has 3-4 assists on the year as well), and this is all no fluke after he led the country in save percentage in the shortened 2020 season as well. Again, there are others who have strong shouts for first team (namely Kirst and Entenmann), but McElroy is by no means someone who doesn't deserve the honor.

I remain puzzled at what Will Perry has done to tick off voters; he's been the most consistent and most productive offensive UNC player behind Gray this year. He has sky high point totals, great shooting percentage, and one of the lowest turnover totals you'll see out of a first line middle. Too many people voting are going off of past rep or dinging him because his game doesn't translate as well to the pros; they saw Cook and Anderson drafted in the PLL and just assume they must be better even though on the field this year he's been the guy.
Perry is certainly showing up today

Hopfan16, Where would you put adam charalambides from rutgers. Arguably, he never completely disappeared in any game this season. Very consistent but he only got HM All American.

To all posters here on fanlax, Going into the tourney, i said the Big Ten was vastly underrated, Maryland was the best and most complete team in the country, and rutgers was top 5 in the country. I stand by my statements.

Why did they vote for these last week? Does anyone have any doubt after the last 2 weeks that Makar and Grill should be 1st team AA? How did Giles Harris win the D player of the year?

They should change that.

Actually it's humorous......The majority of the fans are focused on their own respective team and could care less about their conference opponent's fortunes. Some of us even rooted for teams like Rutgers to beat UNC and Maryland to beat Duke..............I guess if your team isn't a National power, you have to fall back on cheering for your conference.... Maryland is elite and doesn't need to do that.

Don't understand N. Montgomery as a 1st teamer.
Don't understand how N. Franchuk "Navy" is not on this list. {He and Cam Wyers are only two to blank Nichtern}
