If it was me, I’d offer a buyout,
discount future year payments into
a current lump sum.

Maybe colleges have a loophole ..... no athletic season, no athletic scholarships!

Canisius announced a 19% cut in the school's athletic budget. The school confirmed no sports are being cut but I have to assume it will impact travel and potential out of region games. Some monies will be saved by today's announcement that men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball will forego all non conference games this fall.

According to an article I saw Canisius has a $20 million budget deficit and has eliminated 96 staff positions which includes about 25 professors. I would think more athletic cuts are very likely there. They are certainly not alone. Looks like Quinnipiac has a $55 million deficit. Sienna and Monmouth also have shortfalls but haven’t disclosed a definitive amount.

After being very close to reaching the top in recent years, 2021 could be the season that many have been waiting to see out of Detroit Mercy.

After going 0-6 during the shortened 2020 season, Quinnipiac appears to have the firepower needed on both ends to flip the script and possibly make another MAAC tournament run this spring

Since the program's first season in 2019, St. Bonaventure has made progress in multiple areas. But the one goal they are still trying to reach is claiming their first win, which they could very well get this spring.

Since Liam Gleason's arrival in Loudonville, Siena has seen a resurgence on the offensive end. In 2021, we could see that progress turn into the most wins to date in the Gleason era

Marist with a tremendous “steal”,

from a number of CAA teams,

a four star 2022 recruit from La Salle (SE PA),

6’5” 240 lbs 2022 attack recruit,

I noticed this recruit who actually committed to
Marist a while ago because his club mate just
signed on to a CAA team,

good commit,

Schedules - Looks like just 8 games starting March 6th - more than a month after the start of the season for others.

St. Bonnie
https://gobonnies.sbu.edu/sports/m-lacr ... 1/schedule

Detroit
https://detroittitans.com/sports/mens-l ... edule/2021

Manhattan
https://gojaspers.com/sports/mens-lacro ... edule/2021

Canisius
https://gogriffs.com/sports/mens-lacrosse/schedule/2021

Quinnipiac
https://gobobcats.com/sports/mens-lacrosse/schedule

Missing Monmouth, Marist, Siena

Week 1 Games March 6
Monmouth @ Manhattan
St Bonnie @ Quinnipiac
Detroit @ St Bonnie (Seems to be a conflict with above)
Siena @ Canisius

No Marist game listed - would assume they would be at Quinn for week 1 and St Bonnie hosting Detroit. Will see but slightly concerns Marist info missing considering they just canceled football at the last minute.

Maybe the league only has those 9 teams and they’re only playing in league games.

Good catch on this one, I hadn't noticed that.

There seems to be some schedule shuffling going on within the MAAC. Manhattan only had 3 home games when their schedule was originally posted (and St. Bonaventure had 5). The location of the first game against Monmouth has been flipped. St. Bonaventure originally had their week 1 game listed as hosting Detroit Mercy. So I think that St. Bonaventure has updated their posted schedule, and Detroit Mercy hasn't which is causing the conflict. Given that both the St. Bonaventure and Quinnipiac schedules agree, I'm taking those as being most up-to-date.

If that's the case, that would make week 1 for the MAAC:
Monmouth @ Manhattan - (originally listed as @Monmouth)
St. Bonaventure @ Quinnipiac
Detroit Mercy @ Marist
Siena @ Canisius

-

After checking the five schedules that are posted again, and using process of elimination these seem to be the missing games (locations are assuming that every team has four home games):
03/13: Monmouth @ Siena
03/20: Marist @ Monmouth
04/03: Marist @ Siena

But as things stand, I think there still might be a problem. Canisius is listing 5 home games, and no matter where the missing games are played, Siena can't have more than 3 home games. Flipping the location of the week 1 game would fix this. But there might be more shuffling than this going on given what I've mentioned above.

Tentative guess at the schedules of the 3 schools without schedules posted (if nothing else changes even more).

Monmouth:
Weekend of -
03/06 - @Manhattan
03/13 - @Siena
03/20 - Marist
03/27 - @Manhattan
04/03 - Quinnipiac
04/10 - Detroit Mercy
04/17 - St. Bonaventure
04/24 - @Canisius

Marist:
03/06 - Detroit Mercy
03/13 - Quinnipiac
03/20 - @Monmouth
03/27 - Canisius
04/03 - @Siena
04/10 - @St. Bonaventure
04/17 - @Detroit Mercy
04/24 - Manhattan

Siena:
03/06 - @Canisius
03/13 - Monmouth
03/20 - @Quinnpiac
03/27 - @Detroit Mercy
04/03 - Marist
04/10 - Canisius
04/17 - @Manhattan
04/24 - @St. Bonaventure

Now that I think about it, if Marist did indeed cancel, that could have caused the shuffling from when schedules originally went up a few days ago that I mentioned in my post above. Hopefully they didn't...

Don’t worry, Marist will be playing. Open with Q’Pac on 3/6 in a game that does not count in league standings, then play Q’Pac again on 3/13 in a game that does count in league standings. Each team will play a full 7 game league slate, preceded by a game on 3/6 that will not count in standings. Some confusion as coaches proposed a 10 game schedule with 3 not counting in standings but league cut to 8. I think a couple of the currently posted schedules are incorrect.

Thanks! Other than the opening game being different, have what you seen for Marist generally line up with my guess above?
