Didn't VMI play UVA last year?

Isn't the other addition UMBC along with Lehigh? That's a strong strength of schedule in 2020 overall for sure. Not backing down from any realistic challenges.

My bad. Yes, they did play UVA last year. Then they (UVA) dropped them and added them back as their tourney warm up game. You are correct about UMBC.

According to Ty Xanders, Jon Birsner will become the new HC and Assistant AD at Culver.

I honestly do feel like Meade might be an ok fit for that job. An old school guy and a good place for what he is. I don't know who else would be a good coach, perhaps go the same route as Birsner and get former Furman assistant Andrew Athens?

At farewell meeting Birsner said all of the expected thanks, etc. Class job to the end. Will be missed. That said, he stated new HC interviews are already lined up and they expect to know who will get job by July 1st. Don’t know if that is wishful thinking or realistic.

There are three “finalists” and a “dark horse” as described by someone who gets briefed on search process. I don’t know personally any of the four so no opinions (so far).

It appears the OC will return, DC will not and another coordinator will be added whose title has not been released to my knowledge. 0-4 2019 record does not show the progress made last year. Only Richmond was a blow out. Should of been 2-2 with wins against Manhattan and MSM.

Last year Birsner's hands on part was the clearing which improved. OC & DC were given latitude to implement their "systems". Offense was a version of UVA's offense obviously minus the talent level. The almost complete lack of assists speaks for itself. The defense is harder to evaluate as he only had his starters for one game and never during the Fall or start or spring training.

There may not be a team that will benefit more from the new face off rules than VMI. Ground balls has been a lone bright star for VMI for years. (maybe we get too much practice?)

Needless to say the transfer portal and the 5th year of eligibility are of no help to VMI. However, the change of attitude to a positive one means VMI finally has upperclassmen sticking around which means they are not in the discovery mode each year.

Looks like VMI's website shows what you said Dip&Dunk. Only Purpura and Herring (OC) remain as coaches.
