They mostly were all racists, but standard for their time. Some less than others. Only one side of the debate made it about slaves, the south. A population outnumbered by their slaves, and economy which depended on it and did not want to change that for the sake of union. Those in the north, not holding slaves, but not feeling particularly sanguine about the concept, but not feeling the issue should keep them from union decided to kick the can down the road. The reason that the Constitution calls for this extra layer, rather than just providing for the direct election of the president, is that most of the nation’s founders were actually rather afraid of democracy. It is not clear, given her background as a refugee from Africa, that her remarks about the Israeli government (Netanyahu) policies are actually antisemitic. So it is also not clear that censure would be in order. And being against AIPAC is not antisemitic - they do not represent Judaism/Jews but rather the Israeli government.

You are using your own definition of "socialism" - one that is not consistent. GND is a policy framework - implementation can take multiple forms. And as an ultimate goal getting rid of huge college debt is a great benefit to society, but in carrying this out free college is not going to happen any time soon. Single payer would be a great endpoint - but you are not going to get there in one step. And it would not be any more socialism than Medicare/Medicaid. And I don't think taking over the energy sector is an ultimate goal of Democrats.
