Iβm just curious when they changed it from this upcoming year to 2025. It was originally 2023-2024lacrossemwj wrote: βThu Jul 06, 2023 2:21 pm So questions . . .
I thought I saw that a couple of those transfers are graduate students . . . if USF is not playing any competitive games in 2024, do they exhaust their 5th year in 2024, or does it carry over to 2025? And similarly, if Chepenik has 3 years left, will 2024 not count for her, so she gets that extra grad year?
Unrelated, sort of, Penn Womens Lacrosse has announced a few of their seniors are staying for 5th years. I thought the Ivies werent' allowing 5th years, hence all the Ivy transfers to other schools for grad programs on the men's side?
Iβm not 100% positive but Iβm pretty sure athletes receive another year of eligibility. So Chepenik would have a grad year at USF potentially. Also not sure about the Ivy League rules but I know some students took a year off of school in order to have another year or eligibility.lacrossemwj wrote: βThu Jul 06, 2023 2:21 pm So questions . . .

At least one of those girls actually took a year off from school to maintain eligibility. Not sure about the rest. That is how they got around the rule. A few Princeton girls did as well.lacrossemwj wrote: βThu Jul 06, 2023 3:03 pm And again, the ivy league only granted a one time waiver to graduates of the 20-21 graduating class to have a fifth year, so not sure how Penn is retaining these fifth years. They are the only school that i have seen posting info about seniors staying on for a fifth year.

Does not count - only when their is NCAA competition (games).lacrossemwj wrote: βThu Jul 06, 2023 2:58 pm Yes, but does a year of being on a roster without competitive play (like at usf in 2024) not count?

Chepnik is nightmare - her dad is the ring leader. (Just reread the bottom of the article if you think otherwise).
2024 is a "Bonus Year" where the athletes are on campus but not competing at D1 level so it doesn't count against their eligibility. Many new programs have this "Bonus Year".
Yup. And there is no scholarship cap for this year as well. So theoretically the entire team can be on a full ride.intheknow247 wrote: βThu Jul 06, 2023 3:27 pmDoes not count - only when their is NCAA competition (games).lacrossemwj wrote: βThu Jul 06, 2023 2:58 pm Yes, but does a year of being on a roster without competitive play (like at usf in 2024) not count?
Yes i know but I was surprised to see USF cheerleading the father. Sheβll be out of there by her senior year.8meterPA wrote: βThu Jul 06, 2023 4:47 pmOregon to Clemson to USF...and only played 1 yearintheknow247 wrote: βThu Jul 06, 2023 3:26 pmChepnik to USF old news.Relax77 wrote: βThu Jul 06, 2023 2:18 pmUSF already playing up to the father on Instagram.Kleizaster wrote: βThu Jul 06, 2023 2:06 pmCongrats to her but she's not exactly the best lax player out there..crazy amount of money for an average player8meterPA wrote: βThu Jul 06, 2023 1:34 pminteresting...NULax2 wrote: βThu Jul 06, 2023 12:12 pm Chepenik to USF
