jrn19 wrote: Tue May 30, 2023 4:57 pm Anyone know any of these kids who got screwed by these rental seniors? People have been mentioning this for 3 years now, who are all these kids who never got to play and who’s future got destroyed because a team brought in someone else? Anyone got names?

Which, by the way, they could have done with or without the COVID ruling and could have happened in any number of different ways. No one is guaranteed a spot
Every kid in 2020-2023 class got screwed. It wasn’t just transfers. It was having an extra year of guys (generally the better players) staying for an extra year which prevented many from playing as a freshman, sophomre and even junior years. What don’t you u understand. Pre COVID extra year a freshman had three classes ahead of him. Due to fifth year COVID they now had four classes ahead of them PLUS transfers.
Yes every single kid in a class used their extra year of eligibility. This is why there are 80 kids on a college team.
Not sure if you are a troll or just plain stupid. As I said the best players on each team generally stayed the extra fifth year. I know at Loyola McNulty, Schafer, Savio, Lindley, Olmstead, Wigley, Cain and others stayed and played (most started or were second line). This NECESSARILY took play time from freshmen like McGorry, Dixon, Roman, Houlihan and others. Same thing happened this year and same next. Kamish, James, Poitras, Pacheco, and others staying a fifth year and starting will take play time away from freshmen and sophomores. It’s just basic math as well as reading comprehension.
Agreed, For most incoming freshman players the extra year of college eligibility along with the easy transferring has caused havoc on many players last few years. , even good talented ones.

Per TX on Twitter:

A First Team All-American and Goalie of the Year in DIII, @Ephs_Lacrosse's Matthew Freitas has entered the portal as a grad transfer, per a source. In 2023, he stopped 56.8% and made 13.6 saves per game for Williams.

Oh, and by the way, Freitas only has one leg. Just remarkable.

Yep, great pick up. Played at the Gilman School and was moved to close defense for his senior year from LSM, earned 1st team All MIAA and MD All State. As LSM, was a Big Ten freshman of the week and Rutgers rookie of the year for a team that went to the Final Four. In ‘23 he moved to SSDM to help the rope unit. Very athletic & versatile player that can do a lot for a team.

That gives the Hounds two junior LSMs now. Diego Roman and Reynolds. Should be set there. Heard a few more kids are thinking about transfer to Loyola.

Per IL

Drexel lax attackman Sean Donnelly has entered the portal as a grad transfer, per a source. A two-time Second Team All-CAA pick, Donnelly posted 80 goals and 51 assists in three seasons with the Dragons after transferring in from 'Cuse.

This actually could work well for both parties.
Donnelly is a 5th year,

several guys have had to sit or redshirt due to all the 5 year players.

Comparable maybe to a Keegan Khan, less of a feeder though.

Jax is loving the D3 guys. Probably because they're like Juco guys at this point. Transferring in, but two years of eligibility once they get there.

The longtime OCC coach left probably 5-6 years ago and the program hasn't been the same since. A new guy took over this past year and the program seems to be pointed in the right direction but they just haven't had the same level of talent they had before. They have an intriguing player who put up a lot of points this past year that hasn't drawn as much attention as I figured he would. Anahalihs Doxtator, look him up fascinating story.

Mule is a nice pickup for Cuse, he should slide into the attack spot vacated by Kirst and gives a solid dodger that takes the pressure off of Mule. Hearing SU is also keying in on a FOGO.
