So are they - 3 years in a row, but definitely should have won last year. Hop women always schedule a game or two before the Hounds....it makes a difference

They were the co-#1 team in the country -- it shouldn't come as a surprise that they were blowing teams away. They still played plenty of top notch teams and only one was able to keep within 4 goals. If you even look only at their quartet of OOC games against big-time NY programs (St. A's, Set, Yorktown, Nisky), he had 20 goals, AKA 5 gpg. That was one of the most impressive goal scoring seasons I've seen from a player at an elite program.

Unleash the Hounds!!!!

(I'd post the sweet new bus photo but the allowable size photo on here is like 25kb!)

Lindley would have scored in any league...you guys have no idea how tough this kid is (btw, his mom was like a 4x AA at UMASS)

I know this is a lacrosse thread but just a shoutout to loyola mens soccer team. Their best recruiting class in history are finally seniors and look to lead the team to a PL title and maybe an NCAA berth after getting knocked out in the semis the past 3 seasons.

They just drew defending national champion maryland to a tie in preseason. That's quite an accomplishment for our small school. I look forward to possibly seeing them make a run for the NCAA's this year because this is their best shot.

Their schedule is hardest in program history with several ACC teams as Wake Forest (4x defending ACC champion), Virginia Tech, and Sun Belt conference winner James Madison, highlight the schedule with other names like NC State, Appalachian State, local rival Mt. St. Mary, and dangerous ivy league foe Princeton, to round out the OOC.

I don’t know the sport well but I remember LC bring a national power for a few years decades ago. Maybe memory fails me.

Shoutout our Pat Spencer who is traveling with the Northwestern basketball team on their trip to Europe to play exhibition games against european teams.

He just posted a double double with 21 points and 10 assists against a French team. Not D-1 college level but still impressive in my book.

Loyola had some awesome teams under Coach Sento in the late 80s and 90s. I am pretty sure the soccer team was ranked #1 nationally at one point too. They were regular NCAA participants and went as far as the National Semifinals, I think. I remember some big games and wins against UVA and UNC around that time. They had very solid teams with lacrosse midfielder and soccer goalie Zach Thornton (John Carroll h/s). He was an AA in both sports and ended up being named MLS player of the year a couple times.

Our first hoops game this Fall/Winter is November 1 against.....(wait for it).....Johnny Hopkins.

The last (and only?) time we played them was in 2005 when we won by 20 or so. Anyone making a spread on this puppy?

we actually played them in the 2016-2017 season as an exhibition game since Hop is D3. I don't think D1 schools are permitted to play schools of a lesser Division in the NCAA.

But anyway the score of that game was 73-50 Loyola win

righttt i remember Ridley showed a video celebrating the teams from the 80s and 90's success when Loyola invited them back to be featured at halftime at one of the mens soccer games. They beat national powers UNC and UVA in a couple of the tournaments

This is according to the wiki page:
"The team is one of the most successful athletic programs at Loyola, winning numerous MAAC Championships (both regular season and MAAC Tournament), consistently making NCAA Tournament appearances, and often holding national rankings in both the NSCAA/Adidas Poll as well as that of CollegeSoccerNews. In 1987 the Loyola Men's soccer team was ranked #1 in the nation going into the season. The team is currently coached by Steve Nichols, a former (class of 1992) Greyhound standout. Prior to Nichols, the coach was Mark Mettrick, a former youth and reserve player for Manchester United, who had been at the helm since 2000 and had led the Greyhounds to four NCAA Tournament appearances, reaching the Sweet 16 in 2001. Bill Sento had a strong run prior to Mettrick and lead the team for 20 seasons filled with great success and many Top 10 and Top 20 national rankings.

Loyola won the NCAA Division II Championship in 1976 - one of two national championships in the school's history - and moved up to the Division I level following the conclusion of the 1978 season."

It makes me wonder- if the team has a tradition of success going back to the 80s-90s and early 2000's then what the hell happened to drop off so significantly

Edit: Looking down the list of AA's and conference players, how in the world did our tiny school from Baltimore recruit players from England, Portugal, Scotland, Colombia in the 90's and 2000's????
Currently this year's seniors were some of the top recruits in the country when we got them. At least 2 of the kids are part of MLS teams and their academies. All of this comprised a #13 ranked recruiting class. Nichols must be doing something right on the recruiting trail....

love social media beefs!!!
really liked scanlan's game with the hounds. like probably most (but maybe not him yet), feel like he really could use a pr rep, if not a mentor, on his public face. even in the small world of lacrosse.
in any event, for hounds fans --- only saw about one half, so take it fwiw --- running with some of his new crew in l.p., playing attack... struggled seeing slides early enough and getting rid of it before a double ensued. trying to do too much? or maybe not ready yet for the new spot. very small sample size. for the weekend, that talented group struggled to score very much.
social media beefs!!!

Scanlon's role within the Syracuse offense will be only as big as he is capable. SU has a lot of guys who can carry the ball and draw slides and some talented passers, like Rehfuss and Curry. I don't think Scanlon is going to jump in and be the main ball carrier. Not when they already have Dordevic, Curry, Trimboli and Rehfuss.

All it takes is the wrong coach and things can bottom out quickly.
See: Navy lacrosse or the brief stint Loyola had between Cottle and Toomey.
