Cuse nation has already written saturday off as a win. We'll see if that's the case.
Hopkins fought hard tonight but to say that Cuse nation has already written Saturday off as a win seems a bit disingenuous don't you think. In fact, to me JHU and Cuse are kind of mirror images of each other as 2 perennial powerhouses in this sport are both making progress towards being that again.
I don't think any part of Cuse nation thinks JHU will be a walk in the park and certainly not after this performance against the #1 team in the country.

Collison blows right by his long stick defender like he’s a gnat,
with the one hand shot,

then he sizzles Zinn and gets off a howitzer,

either of those could have connected,

I would have liked to see a 3 goal game with 5 minutes
to play, see how UVA reacted to an actual close game down
to the wire against a hyper-motivated team.

Great fight from the Jays. They're for real. Virginia is just too good.
Nothing wrong with that effort. Bring that Saturday and Cuse is in trouble
I just worry about Cuse's goalie making 20 saves.
Possible, but on the other hand we should have a better day at the faceoff dot than we did today

Another factor: Cuse has been awarded 15 (yes, you read that right, 15) extra-man opportunities at home over their last two games.

Agreed. Think that effort probably beats all but two or three teams in the country.

Hopefully we emerged unscathed and enter the Cuse game at full strength.

Jays could have folded as a lot of teams have against UVA but they battled back. Scott Smith had 3 CT and held Shellenberger scoreless. Callahan was very good in the second half. Collison obviously is already a star. Better team won but you can take some positives up into the Dome.
One of the few games that was closer than the final score.

Virginia is an excellent team.

Had the Blue Jays won a few more faceoffs, won a few more gbs, put a few more shots on goal, they could have pulled off the upset.

Hopkins is the third team to lose to UVA by four goals. Harvard, UMich, and now Hopkins.

I'd pick your crew over Syracuse this weekend.

Hopkins lost by 5. But it almost continued the trend for UVA goals scored this season: 17-25-17-25... 18

Not all 4-5 goal games are created equally. Did you watch the Harvard game? The Hoos scored 20 goals in the first half. That game was over in the first quarter. Harvard ended up cutting it to 4 in the second half with their starters against UVA's backups. But they got absolutely annihilated and it wasn't anything like the game today.

Michigan did give Virginia a pretty tough game, similar to ours today.

Game in the Dome this weekend should be good. Both teams need it.

Wouldn’t start attacking home cooking with the refs. Didn’t Hop just get 5 man ups to UVAs 1?

Krampf and Collison, the most unlikely two-some,

6 goals, 10 shots.

Didn't catch the Harvard game, thank you for the clarification.

I have Hop +4. Syracuse is still rebuilding their entire D, and their O isn't scoring enough to cover for that. Unless Mark puts up 22 saves again, I suppose....

Syracuse game is pretty close to must-win … maybe not quite, but pretty close.

I would think that game would leave Hop fans with a lot of optimism, played a good game and hung with a darn good and deep Virginia team.
Yup, Doc, the Hop-Cuse game is a big one for both teams. Not big as it was in past years but big in morale for both team and fans I think. A W over the big rival that has a Pietramala v Gait (a sight to behold), and long history of being seen as the standard of lacrosse is a pretty big deal. Huge game in the Dome for these two teams.
Weather? No worries.

A Hopkins....Hopkins.....fan calling another team out for favorable home calls BEFORE the game?

You're the guys that play at Homewood field, right? Just checking.

Nice to see the rivalry getting your blood goin' enough to get you to throw around the buffalo bagels, Hopfan16. Maybe this is a sign that our teams are relevant again, after a long hiatus?

(maybe)

If you're making it a competition, 15 EMOs in two games is absolutely insane. Nine in the Carolina game alone. Have never seen numbers like that at Homewood.

It very much will be a factor that Jays have to deal with especially because your guys have been so good on man-up. That is all.

Syracuse is such a wild card. When Mark is on his game (which seems like always), the Orange are almost unbeatable. Off-ball D will be crucial for both teams. Blue Jays need to win their share of FOs and gbs to come away with a victory. None of that is Einsteinian analysis … Blue Jays need a strong performance with few mistakes to pull off the win.

Thought many years ago that lacrosse would evolve into a more one handed game,
kind of surprised it hasn't.
