Everybody knows that Hunter will be pardoned by his old man. Jail is not and never will be an option for Hunter. If FLP liberals have their own tablets of commandments Thou shalt pay your taxes would be #1 on that list. How many times on this forum have I read this same worn out old mantra about paying our fair share. I know what will happen to me if there is an allegation that I didn't pay my fair share. The IRS will come down on us like a ton of bricks. Even when the IRS is proven wrong they don't have the integrity to apologize for their errors. Of every red blooded American knows the IRS is NEVER wrong. FTR the IRS cheated my wife and I out of 598 dollars. Maybe that gives us a credit for the next time they screw up? 8-)

Small thing perhaps, but the reporting, and according to the indictment apparently (I haven't read it), is that Hunter's unpaid taxes are now fully paid.

The indictments are for having avoided them, misrepresented them, in the first place.

Typically (again according to reporting), the IRS and DOJ don't usually prosecute if the tax avoider comes clean and pays up. But gotta pay up. Also gotta come clean and there may be an open question as to whether Hunter has fully come clean but we don't know if that's a factor.

However, that's where this was in the deal they were about to do last summer before the judge said she wasn't willing to be the arbiter of whether Hunter had violated the probationary terms in the future. Hunter balked at the idea of a future DOJ making the call as to that question, given the statements made by Trump and MAGA cultists about "retribution"...was that a tactical mistake? Maybe. Time will tell. I still think this will settle.

If not, I'm not so sure that Joe pardons Hunter, unless there's a really unusual punishment way out of the scope of similar situations.

Salty, in what world are the "WB's" "vindicated"??? There's no evidence of government interference in the investigation or prosecution of these indictments, indeed quite the opposite.

And there's no damning info about Hunter's tax avoidance that wasn't already known...and he's paid up those taxes.

But most importantly, zero indication of any misdoings by President Biden or Merrick Garland or Weiss or...

You're the only one who's allowed to traffic in toddler nonsense?

How about you tell the Forum again how an adult with full security clearance, and 20+ years of dealing with politicians was "tricked" by a couple of FBI field agents, and Flynn doesn't know what a lawyer is, or that he can simply not answer questions?

Or that Barr, Weiss, Rettig, and Wray, all conspired to help Biden---who wasn't President at the time------and his SOL son, Hunter?

Or the one where you and your buds swear that on a ballot with DOZENS of elections, ONLY the Trump v. Biden part is faked...the rest is perfect.

In the long run it won't make a difference. Joe Biden can and will pardon his kid whenever he feels the time is right. Does that spin work for you? ;) That is the advantage Hunter has with his old man being the POTUS.

Sure it will. Look at Old Salt. He's convinced that there's a money trail that led to Joe Biden from Ukraine, ignoring that the DoJ already looked into that. He thinks Bill Barr is "in on" the conspiracy to protect Joe, and ignored the evidence that Joe was on the take....even though Trump's people had 4 years to look into that.

Joe can't pardon him, Cradle. He hasn't been convicted of anything. Pity that Mueller didn't play this game, and stretch the investigation into TeamTrump for now six years......making it so Flynn and the rest couldn't be pardoned.

Is that correct, legal folks?

I thought that Presidential pardons can cover any past federal criminal conduct.
Not future conduct, but it doesn't require a conviction or even an indictment.

Or am I mistaken?

https://constitution.congress.gov/brows ... _00013316/

Beyond textual limits, certain external constitutional and legal considerations may act as constraints on the power. For instance, the Court has indicated that the power may be exercised at any time after [an offense’s] commission,8 reflecting that the President may not preemptively immunize future criminal conduct.

It's never been tested in court. Ford gave Nixon a pre-emptive pardon, for example, even though Nixon was never charged with a crime.

No one challenged it in court.

Here's a discussion of preemptive pardons, when there have been no charges.

https://www.npr.org/2020/12/02/94129029 ... -can-he-do

The takeaway seems to be that pardons can be granted even when there have been no charges, but it's read as an admission that a crime was indeed committed. Which is a rare situation.

There's more of an open question as to whether a President can pardon himself. That certainly feels like it should be a fat NO.

Here's a discussion of that 1866 case and other situations.

No way will Joe pardon Hunter before the 2024 election. Happy to take wagers on it.

Remember, Weiss needs to convict now on charges he was pressured into making.

Show me the man.

Remember when it was important to investigate quickly and fairly.....and not just investigate endlessly, hoping for maximum political damage?

Suddenly, that's not important at all....to the shock of no one here.

youthathletics wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2023 9:41 am As are you, by maintaining your personal partisan scoreboard while widening the goalpost. Are you intentionally being coy, and avoiding that the fake dossier essentially destroyed an elected president's term all out of partisan vindictiveness, while at the same made a mockery of the US in front of the globe.
No one except Republican gave a Sh(t about that dossier....a dossier that was IMMEDIATELY mocked by the MSM. The WaPo tore Buzzfeed a new one for publishing that dreck....while the WaPo refused to run it. I posted the WaPo piece hammering Buzzfeed's choice to run that POS, unconfirmed "Dossier" multiple times for the Forum.

But you and OS ignore these details, because FoxNews crams their made-up narrative down your throat.....and you are overjoyed to eat that up, because the Dems are bad, and Trump is Sooper-Awesome, and would never to shady stuff.

Question: did you or didn't you want a man on Putin's payroll----Paul Manafort-----working in the White House?

If the answer is "no", know you know why the FBI and DoJ was up the Trump Campaign's *ss from the word go.

None of that is made up. All proven true in a court of law. Manafort worked to put Putin's man into power in Ukraine. Was convinced for trying to hide the money he got from doing that.

Then there's Kush and TrumpJr. meeting with a Russian spy in TrumpTower that Kush himself admitted to doing, and then "forgetting" to mention it on a revised Federal form.. Again: how the F isn't that TRYING to work with Russia to get elected?

The Dossier has NOTHING to do with these events, YA. You're swallowing the FoxNation BS.
You have yet again widened the goal and moved the entre discussion away from the original point this morning. Sure, I'll play bt have to leave shortly for a few client visits.

Question: did you or didn't you want a man on Putin's payroll----Paul Manafort-----working in the White House? NO!

Can you point me to the part where the FBI documented that Trump knew Manafort worked for Putin when he asked him to join his team? Details matter...not just yours.

Then there's Kush and TrumpJr. meeting with a Russian spy in TrumpTower that Kush himself admitted to doing, and then "forgetting" to mention it on a revised Federal form.. Again: how the F isn't that TRYING to work with Russia to get elected? Again, details matter. They admitted to meeting someone in the tower....do you recall why? Ahhhh....yes that stupid OpResearch......striked again, where the sexy lady claimed to have dirt on HRC.

Crazy how you have such a good memory but only present enough of the story to make it fit your argument. The goal is now back to normal size. ;)
Big logic flaw...a fan is saying that the 'dossier' had nothing to do with the FBI's concern about Trump, their concern far preceded that set of memos.

The FBI sure as sh-t knew who Paul Manafort was and who he worked for. Let's assume that Trump is a total idiot and didn't bother to know who Manafort had just been working for and was so stupid and egocentric that he actually thought that Manafort was working without pay out of the goodness of his heart, no signal there...so, Trump is stupid and egocentric, and is set up to be a Russian asset, a "useful idiot"...nah, nothing to be concerned about with the candidate of a major party...

Same thing re Tower meeting. Let's say they were all stupid or lazy or whatever, so they were welcoming dirt on a campaign opponent from someone they knew right away was representing Russian interests, wanting to talk about "adoptions" in Russia...meaning Magnitsky Act sanctions...your supposition again is they were immensely stupid and ignorant...ok, "useful idiots", who then failed to report the meeting to the FBI, instead lied about it...

And oh yeah, all those other lies about the business dealings, past and ongoing, with Russians...

The point isn't whether Trump "kew that Manafort worked for Putin" or that the Trump Tower meeting was enormously inappropriate, or even that he's sane enough to "know" that he was lying about business dealings, it's that this reality forced the FBI to be highly concerned and not avoid investigating...and Trump kept making it worse and worse and worse.
This. Exactly this. Totally irrelevant what Trump knew----the conversation is: as a citizen, do you want the FBI to take a look at a Campaign manager who just got done working for Vladimir Putin?

The rest of us who aren't in the bag for a Political Party? We want them up the TrumpCampaign's *ss IMMEDIATELY. BEFORE he takes office.

The same way, to really pound it home, when Hunter didn't pay his freaking taxes, I want the IRS to open a case. And when warranted, the DoJ step in and nail him on fraud.

That's the thing I don't get, YA: you see here that NO ONE is whining about the IRS for daring to open a case on Hunter. No claims of Deep State. No claims of corruption. Not a freaking word.

Yet we have six years of whiny-baby-pee-pants complaints about the FBI daring to investigate AND CONVICT felons on TeamTrump. You guys are the reason Trump keeps getting nominated: you're all batsh*t crazy with this conspiracy stuff.

The 1%ers LOVE that you guys will bend over backwards to defend anyone with the "correct letter" by their name, YA.

And they LOVE that your team keeps lowering the bar for what you will accept in your leaders. Trump's got, what----indictments for 91 felonies right now? Try asking either of your grandfathers in the 1970's if that's acceptable to him for an American POTUS. We both know what they'd say.

They'd say: F on, what is wrong with you and the Republican party?? ;)
 ...too much repetitive old sh!t thrown against the wall to warrant response in detail.

Still waiting for proof of any actual collusion between Trump & the Russian govt.
You know, stuff like bank records, pseudonym emails, & other evidence emerging from the laptop, now that it's authenticity has been established & it's in the hands of officials with the authority to extract the evidence.

Where's Trumps quid pro quo from Putin ? We are finally seeing the evidence of the Biden-Burisma relationship that Trump was impeached for trying to extract from Zelensky. Nonetheless, Trump authorized the lethal military aid & training that saved Ukraine, despite Obama & Biden refusing to provide it.

Whatever Trump did to prevent (or deter ?) Putin from invading Ukraine, it's too bad Biden wasn't so "colluding" with Putin.
A lot of lives & scarce munitions would have been preserved.

No need to respond. It's all true.

No amount of anything will prove anything to you that you don't want to hear. Manafort's freaking felony conviction for trying to hide that he got paid to help Putin install a toadie in Ukraine isn't enough for you, and doesn't count. Bet you think that planes don't fly if they have a little D on them.

Irrelevant, and moving the goalposts. Your claim has always been that the FBI had to be insane and corrupt to open an investigation into TeamTrump....even though they hung multiple felonies on them. THAT is the conversation.

     Trump figured it out, did he?

And Bill Barr and Wray didn't/haven't dropped a dime on ol' Joe because (insert dimwitted Old Salt conspiracy)......

Hunter left Burisma in 2019. And just like with your Deep State, you've been promising proof of your conspiracy for.......how many years is it now?

Keep it up. Maybe you can fool yourself for another ten years, OS. After all, Dems are bad, right? And the R's are sparkle-awesome!
