Obviously the guy can coach. But this feels kinda like they just rehired Steve Beville again.

This hire is, what it is. Cortland will still be Cortland. But based on the candidates in the pool, he doesn't help them close the gap between RIT and any (insert) top tier NESCAC school.

Best thing to happen to Cortland is Brockport and Geneseo leaving the conference after this year. At least they will get to NCAAs before getting bounced in the 2nd round (at best).

Oneonta, needs to step up and challenge somehow , someway (yea we've been saying this for 20 years).

Any insider insight as to how the process went down? Were there other offers made or was Coach Rogers the first choice? It would make sense as he's the known quantity for Cortland, but seems a lot of the posters/insiders thought it was going a different direction...

The guy has a 192-50 win loss record for two high powered d3 teams plus a year at Utica. It might seem to some as a retread situation but this is not something to sneeze at. He knows how to recruit and coach.

Made it very very far with both OWU and Cortland and won it all at the highest level twice with Cuse - it's quite a resume! D1 experience is a game changer for most D3 ADs if they can swing it dollars wise.

So he left a pretty good Benedictine program to then go to bottom of the conference Chicago team who hasnt been able tot recruit any players in the last five years? Sounds fishy.

Nothing fishy from what I've been told. He left Benedictine to go coach club ball. It didn't work out for whatever reason and he wanted to get back into coaching college. Probably could have gotten a better job if he was applying to positions posted earlier in the coaching cycle

With Rumors that Utica may be going D2 in the next 2 years and joining the NE10 does this position become more attractive!?
Any rumors as to who they are looking at?

I heard from a parent that the AD has brought candidates to campus this week. The team had the chance to meet with each candidate. I believe there are three maybe 4, all with HC experience. It sounds like they are moving quickly and should have someone in place by next week.

It also sounds like Lelan really was working hard to get Utica going in the right direction. He brought in a class of 20+ guys.

I imagine they brought in Misiaszek from Poly but beyond that who else might be on their radar?
