I'm a Quinn fan. With this said, based on his previous SU seasons, it's hard for me to believe that he'll be playing on the first middy line *and* putting up numbers.

He has not lived up to his high school hype, but he seems to be getting better each season. He had 10 and two last year, which isn't great but still not nothing for a second line midfielder. He also barely played the last four games of the season when the coaching staff stopped playing the second midfield after the Scanlan suspension. He has the talent, but sometimes makes bad turnovers. I think he could put up some points on the first line with someone like Curry to play off of.

I hear that. Curry creates, Quinn finishes. Maybe.

That's a good point. I think everyone's penciling Quinn in on the 1st line with Curry. If Dordevic plays attack, that last 1st midfield spot is really up for grabs.

So let me get this straight , acc Syracuse is uncertain about 2nd and 3rd mids on first line ? Good luck.

Saw on another Syracuse lax board they are saying there is no ACC tournament but the teams will play a couple of each other twice. Very similar to their ACC play from last season

It will definitely be Curry and Quinn. One spot is up for grabs and we have options. The extra spot is only really there because there has been strong signs of Dordevic moving down to attack. O will be fine it's the defense that is concerning. UVA might actually have a shot against us next year!

I'm excited to see how this team will look in the spring, but at the same time I'm pretty skeptical that there's going to be a major difference in how they play compared with prior Syracuse teams or their competition.

Also, the balance of Gait's personality and Petro's personality, and their different coaching styles interests me. Are they going to be opposing forces pulling players in different directions? Are we going to see players conflicted about how they play? Free flowing or disciplined? Will we see some players make spontaneous plays in the gray and some players play within very confined guidelines?

Controlled d and wide open o? Maybe so. Transition could be where it gets interesting.

What about in 4 years?

As molo is saying, each will have their half of the field. With this said, I think Petro, and this may be wishful thinking, will be a different coach than at Hopkins. He's older, wiser, possibly humbler, and... I think he my be a more open, freer coach at SU. But, ohmi, as you're saying, I'm curious.

It seems like it would be better if Gait's personality were the overriding force on the team, rather than having contrasting personalities. Maybe there are examples in sports where this has worked. I'm hoping that Gait's personality has just as much of an effect on Petro as it does the players.

Also, we don't really know how the defense will play. If "controlled" or "disciplined" is the main word to describe how they're playing, that seems counter to what Gait wants from his team. If "aggressive" or "intense" is the main word to describe the defense, then that is probably more in line with what Gait wants.
