Johns Hopkins 2022
Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
Not a big fan of the bald ref
Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
I’d like to welcome back Peshkos game. It’s been a minute
Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
Epstein and Connor with dumb penalties that gives cuse life in the game and their season.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
Refs wanted some attention with all the storylines swirling around
Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
What sort of recognition do you want to see? Something at half time?
I claim that sort of thing just doesn't happen, in any college sport, on the occaison of a fired coach coming back to campus on the staff of an opponent.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
or you don't coach.

Kirson Steals the Win
We have wanted to see Kirson steal a win. We just saw him do it.
Fourteen saves, 0.667 save percentage, and, yeah, 8 pipes. Gotta think Kirson got in those Orange heads and was responsible for a few of those pipes.
Defense was stellar, except for 8 failed clears.
Good off-ball defense.
And the offense kinda, sorta looked like a motion offense in the second half. Kinda ….
Blue Jays won ugly, but they won. Now have a reasonable shot at entering B1G play at 6-3. But one game at a time. The 4-3 record isn’t bad for a team that routinely turns the ball over 20 times a game and is the worst clearing team in college lacrosse.

Up
-Kirson will tell his grandkids he faced a Gait/Petro led cuse team where his side was out shot 54-29, out sog 21-17, out emo 3-0, out gb 37-28, 14-7, -7 turnovers, 7 failed clears and won because of his 14 saves. Incredible performance.
-What incredible plays by blake rodgers and degnon late. Rodgers has made the most of his increasing minutes
-6vs6 defense was absolutely fantastic
-Epstein played 60 hard minutes. I can live with the penalty if it also means the energy he had getting back on a turnover, setting up angelus and his closeout goal.
-Peshko-they reawakened him and he delivered
-They played incredibly hard today especially on defense. There were sticks and bodies and pipes everywhere cuse went.
-You could feel the energy from the fans and parents
-the ad biz ops folks really sold a ton of ads on that sideline.
Down
-Not desos best game
-Petro gave the school decades of service as a player and a coach and is the father of the modern Hopkins lacrosse program from the espn stuff, clc, big ten, players like harrison rabil etc and for them to go radio silent was gutless and showed Baker and Daniels are small people.
-Paul Rabil. Carc did a halftime interview with harrison and has a pod out this week where he asked them both whether they were with Petro or Hopkins in the split. Harrison took the high road as he always does and in the video on lacrosse magazine Rabil took a less positive stance towards his alma mater even though he continues to have a relationship with the school for his pro league work.
-Quint not mentioning where grimes/narewksi/fernadez/delaney were and why lyne was repositioned was bad when he had time to go to a banquet last night.
-Turnovers and failed clears
Whatever
PM is now 3-3 against coaches/assistants that were either fired for him (benson/Petro) or passed over (galloway/nadelen)
Dunn played very very hard but 5-17 wasn't good

Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
- Kirson
- Rodgers
- Scott Smith put Curry on a milk carton
- McManus did a pretty good job on Dordevic. Cuse has two good offensive players and we successfully limited their impact
- Epstein had a solid game minus the penalty. DeSo, however, was a ghost
- Welcome back, Peshko
- Angelus and Keogh are quietly the engines of this offense right now
- A couple of pipes are unlucky, 8 or whatever it was likely means Kirson was taking up a lot of cage and Cuse was forced into shooting for corners
- D had to play A LOT of defense and held together pretty well. Must have been tired but they stayed pretty locked in
- They must have run at Lilly 6 or 7 times and he held up every time. The improvement of his on-ball defense is a major storyline
- Offense didn't have the ball much but they shot 34% and looked like they had more pep in their step compared to the last two weeks, even if the end result (10 goals) wasn't much better
- Non-faceoff GBs were about even. GB stat is misleading without accounting for that
- Clearing was better in the second half but absolutely pathetic overall. Jaronski seems to have the best wheels out of the shortie group — need to see him on the clear more.
- Dunn is scrapping but we need Narewski back
Ugly win, but an important win, in a rivalry game. Great day to be a Jay.

On a few clears, you had a longpole trying to clear while surrounded by several Syracuse players and some Hopkins middies running off the field without helping on the clear.HopFan16 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 6:49 pm - Kirson

Don’t understand how that can still happen in the seventh game of the season.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
Heck of an effort by the D today.
Now, if we can get just get Narewski back, figure out how to clear the ball, and DeSo can find his game somewhere this group could make some noise.
The penalty on the horn was just awful....nobody should be making that mistake at this level. His head was not in this game.
Kirson has taken his game to a new level. Hope he can keep it there.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
One thing I don't fully understand, the clearing game was really clean vs. UNC, who rides very hard. It wasn't great against UVa, but that's to be expected. What happened in the first half today was really kind of strange.

Why does everyone on this thread blame the players regard the poor offensive production? Every week it’s a different players fault. Maybe it’s poor coaching??? Maybe Jr. Is the issue???Sagittarius A* wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 8:22 pm Heck of an effort by the D today.
