The federal government has always funded the greater part of R&D. The cut back in Federal funding has hurt the economy.

Best example is probably NASA. The benefits to the economy is still throwing off new businesses and products and jobs I believe.

The tax revenue justifies the investment but as a fan points out ROI is meaningless.

ROE on major pharma would be meaningful but has to be adjusted and I don’t have the knowledge of the sector to analyze it.

One reason healthcare is so expensive and exploding is pharma. Medicines here cost far more than in other advanced economies. The variance is so great there is no market justification for it.

Pharma reaps profits and healthcare is xo expensive here because of our healthcare system. As a fan pointed out our patent system is a huge system that needs to be amended.

That won’t happen as long as “Capital” controls everything.

Who's money is it, that NIH spends - those investments? Investors get a return, a financial return, those investors - where is their return? I am one such investor, my dividend checks never seem to find their way to my mailbox. Maybe there is a mixup in the postal system, sending my checks to the wrong address.

Come on 6', that $5b is the top line...no body pays the top line, other then us poor schmucks.

Notice how Merck's revenue went up 5% from '17 to '18 and their tax bill, from the line you are using was reduced by almost 90%.

It's a pathetic attempt to change the narrative. Trump did nothing to combat Russian interference in the past few years when he and R's were in charge because it helps them.
