Really good player. Remember he was lighting it up as a Frosh before covid cancelled the season.Finster wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 3:29 pmJeremyCuse wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 2:42 pm Malever in the portal. That's more shocking then Balsamo.

Saw he played in 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024 at Fairfield. 2021 redshirt.
2020 Covid + 2021 medical redshirt? Seems like he can potentially play 2 years?
it seems more understandable since he's now a grad student pursing grad programs?JeremyCuse wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 2:42 pm Malever in the portal. That's more shocking then Balsamo.
Makes sense but I don't recall that being an option when a player enters the portal. But it especially makes sense because the number of schools that act on Hail Mary reach outs can be shocking. It's time intensive acknowledging or responding to 40 D3 and D2 schools and no way in hell D1 schools.GaitsRightHand wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 11:13 am Ty Xanders tweeted that Balsamo is a "no contact" portal entry. Duke is one helluva degree. Outside of Ivy's... maybe a ND or UM degree would be comparable?

I was referring to Balsamo. I saw the Fairfield kid is transferring in. Good player stuck on bad teams.norcalhop wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 5:56 pmhttps://umterps.com/sports/mens-lacross ... ever/12118Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 4:51 pmI thought he was a rising junior? Classified as a Senior this year. Will have a year of eligibility left I believe since he missed one year due to injury.
He's probably the closest thing but definitely not a star like those other guys. He had 16 pts this season lol
Not close. He only started 3 out of 19 games this season with 16 points (less than a point a game) and is nowhere near the face of the program.
Balsamo is solid but far from a star IMO. It felt like he regressed from his impressive rookie campaign and didn’t do much this year, especially in the second half of the season. Struggled to beat shorties and was 1-9 shooting in his last 10 games.
Jason Garrett can confirm this.norcalhop wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 11:40 amThey do take general transfers - it is just rare like most of the ivies and top privates (for undergraduate transfers):DA/PU wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 11:38 amMuch to my dismay Princeton does not take transfers. Seems like the admin takes pride in being the most strict in the league (see their disastrous Covid policies). To my knowledge all of the other ivies take transfers, but vary in terms of how active they are with it and what sports take transfers. Off the top of my head Yale and Penn have been most willing recently to take transfers.JeremyCuse wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 5:30 pmI thought Princeton and a few other's didn't but maybe your right.norcalhop wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 5:25 pmHm, I think every lax ivy allows transfers?JeremyCuse wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 5:09 pmThat would make sense, Penn one of few IVY's who takes transfers and he'd certainly be a Day 1 starter.GaitsRightHand wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 5:00 pm Called someone a lil more in the know. He’s fine going to gt or a number of patriot schools also let’s not get too crazy on schools not like going…sorry but Jax. Duke is fine but I’ve seen plenty of suboptimal outcomes from Duke kids. Especially when we are really not talking about Boswell student body but more comparable to other non revenue athletes. That’s the right comparison for outcomes not student body writ large as so many keep insisting here.GaitsRightHand wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 11:13 am Ty Xanders tweeted that Balsamo is a "no contact" portal entry. Maybe they give kerwin a little latitude for 2-3yrs?Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 2:38 pmThanks. I can see Penn being and option. Burkinshaw was also a UVA transfer to Penn. I would speculate that Harvard, Princeton, Yale and Dartmouth are not likely transfer destinations.HopFan16 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 2:07 pmPenn has taken some recently, including Mac Eldridge and Connell Kumar, both from UVA. Aside from TD, who has transferred into Yale for lacrosse? Brown, Cornell and Penn have been more active but not sure of rising juniors for Brown. Harvard took a transfer from Amherst a few years ago. As for Princeton, supposedly Matt Moore and TD wanted to transfer in…
EDIT: Sorry misread your post, but the point still stands. Penn seems like a likely destination

Think the transfer portal will always have significant talent in it. It won’t end with the Covid classes. If anything, NIL and even (possibly in the future) direct payments (for example, “transfer bonuses”) will draw players into the portal. Most transfers will transfer for the most common reasons today: academic, lacrosse, and personal reasons.

He most all his minutes to Johnston this year. Did you stop watching in spring 23?
Bowdoin faceoff specialist Ethan Barnard is taking a grad year at @RUmlax.
Barnard, an All American, is one of the top specialists in DIII, going 62% for his career at Bowdoin. He's never had a season below 60% facing off. In the last three seasons he has 457 ground balls.
