Your a Cornell grad, you can't come up with a better analogy than that. You ever had to wear a "bump cap"??? FYI the caps 95% of workers have to wear are not "hard hats"... they are bump caps. They are made to protect you if a can of soup falls on your head from a shelf. Common sense was not taught in the late 1980s at Cornell. FTR my brother in law was a Cornell grad class of 1972. I went to a Cornell football game I think in 1986, they really did stink up the field that day. i think they played Brown. Given the available talent, i now understand why they sucked so bad.

Now if we can get states to start dropping the big tests at the end of the year you might also get another 5 to 6 weeks of instructional time...

And have money to spend on instruction instead of the testing companies.
Our year has so shrunk down here we had to extend the end of the school year because they call days for “black ice” (every time transplanted northerners go “what you kidding”, the response is “oh you don’t know about black ice as if they don’t have that under 2’ of snow in the north and still show up maybe with an hour delay). There’s like a 5 day cushion for Federal min for funding now. I recall the max was 28 absences when I was a kid…

whatever gets you threw the day, we guess.

Love how very few members of Congresss were wearing masks.

Bidens' comments regarding the "Victory over Vid" part of his SoU address:

Because of the progress we’ve made, because of your resilience and the tools we have, tonight I can say
we are moving forward safely, back to more normal routines.

We’ve reached a new moment in the fight against COVID-19, with severe cases down to a level not seen since last July.

Just a few days ago, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention—the CDC—issued new mask guidelines.

Under these new guidelines, most Americans in most of the country can now be mask free.

And based on the projections, more of the country will reach that point across the next couple of weeks.

Thanks to the progress we have made this past year, COVID-19 need no longer control our lives.

I know some are talking about “living with COVID-19”. Tonight – I say that we will never just accept living with COVID-19.

We will continue to combat the virus as we do other diseases. And because this is a virus that mutates and spreads, we will stay on guard.

Here are four common sense steps as we move forward safely.

First, stay protected with vaccines and treatments. We know how incredibly effective vaccines are. If you’re vaccinated and boosted you have the highest degree of protection.

We will never give up on vaccinating more Americans. Now, I know parents with kids under 5 are eager to see a vaccine authorized for their children.

The scientists are working hard to get that done and we’ll be ready with plenty of vaccines when they do.

We’re also ready with anti-viral treatments. If you get COVID-19, the Pfizer pill reduces your chances of ending up in the hospital by 90%.

We’ve ordered more of these pills than anyone in the world. And Pfizer is working overtime to get us 1 Million pills this month and more than double that next month.

And we’re launching the “Test to Treat” initiative so people can get tested at a pharmacy, and if they’re positive, receive antiviral pills on the spot at no cost.

If you’re immunocompromised or have some other vulnerability, we have treatments and free high-quality masks.

We’re leaving no one behind or ignoring anyone’s needs as we move forward.

And on testing, we have made hundreds of millions of tests available for you to order for free.

blue highlits my emphasis. He would be banned, for ever and a lifetime, for spewing the same on instaTwatt, paypal, google, theyTube, etc....those highlited comments.

Has a POTUSA ever mentioned a Wallstreet traded, criminally record fined for fraud, company during the SofU address before. Pfizer, appears, at least twice. tRump is a garbage person, but don't recall even he plugging a company, by name.

The part of this that makes it obvious that Joe has lost some cognitive functioning, wasn't the "Iranian" part........ole Joe's long time "charm" was his ability to make fun of himself. The younger Joe, wouldn't have said something like, ".....listen to me. Iranian...geez." fake laughing, " Might as well have said Mesopatomian "

Old Joe would have caught his own gaffe. Now that he is POTUSA, that "charm" is gone ;)

COVID cases continue steep decline in U.S.

Data: N.Y. Times; Note: Case counts in Idaho, Maine and Washington may be affected by ongoing data anomalies; Cartogram: Kavya Beheraj/Axios
COVID case rates continued a steep decline over the last two weeks with the seven-day rolling average dropping to roughly 59,000 cases a day.

The big picture: These falling case rates prompted the CDC in the last week to loosen its mask guidance, recommending universal masking for less than a third of the U.S. population. The White House is also taking steps to bring back the federal workforce and otherwise promote a return to some form of pre-COVID normal.

By the numbers: Nationwide, the U.S. is averaging roughly 18 cases per 100,000 people over two weeks.

The lowest case rates were seen in Nebraska with six cases per 100,000 people, followed by Delaware and Maryland, which had nine cases per 100,000, respectively.
Meanwhile, Montana and Alaska had the highest rates at 49 cases per 100,000 people and 47 cases per 100,000, respectively. Idaho, Maine and Washington are not included in this because each has data anomalies this week.
Kentucky saw the greatest drop, to 38 cases per 100,000 people, down from 114 cases per 100,000 just a few weeks ago.
The only state where cases rose over the last two weeks was Nevada, which averaged 26 cases per 100,000, up from 23 cases per 100,000 a few weeks ago.
Yes but: Deaths nationwide dropped 18% from a seven-day rolling average of more than 2,300 per day. But they still average roughly 1,900 per day.

What we're watching: As with last week, the latest numbers indicate a cause for optimism as Americans return to more normal activities. But that comes with a caveat that it only takes one bad variant to reverse this progress.

Good news. Hopefully we keep up the vaccination push, otherwise we will be back at this again.

F.n irony.........that this drug is being introduced, as part of Bidens "free treatments

Yeah, the swelling in THIS guys knee.......and than the F,n entire lower leg a few dayz later... was due to the arthritus. Of COURSE it was, makes sense. even tho the know it all Doc's at General Hospital KNEW the knee was bone on bone, so what good would THIS prescription do, blah blah blah.

In short, thank goodness for weed. The "know it all " docs refused to put 3 and 18 together, and wouldn't even consider the swelling, could be.......just possibly, be due to "advizing" me to take this very same drug.

ANd now......it cures covid

Well....when you GET sick....."it will be less", , cue the marketing gimmick response, already solidified when it comes to trumps approved "vaccines" (FDA application doesn't match up )

....yes, this response, will be floated about.

Love our medical community.....really, really, do. ;)

learned, from the Hopkins thread, that DocB got early covid (can't call anyone a mouthbreather who got covid in March 2020, now can we? ;)

:o or, can we. March 1st.....absolutely, those infected with covid, can get a pass.

March 31st........not so fast. Especially since, every person I know involved with our health care system, knew about covid in February. Guessing you are more lawyer, than public health guy. Otherwize, you would have been given the heads up. Either that, or you just didn't take it very seriously and went out in public maskless. Like DocB's hero, Gov. Gavin "I will give everyone healthcare" Newsome. Only, he didn't.

Yeah, the "do no harm " part of the hypocrites oath, is directed at dollars, the welfare gravy train, etc.

What......Yale did this study, out of the goodness of their own hearts. Yup........the very first look, for me, when reading these studies, is the WHO PAID FOR IT section.

lilly drugs.........another big phrama gem. Howz the price lowering of 100 year old life saver, know as INSULIN going there, Lilly? or, IS that another drug dealer ;)

Going to tick over 980,000 dead Americans today.

https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-022-00104-8

That is why researchers quickly turned to excess mortality as a proxy measure of the pandemic’s toll. Excess-death figures are seemingly easy to calculate: compare deaths during the pandemic with the average recorded over the previous five years or so. But even in wealthy countries with comprehensive and sophisticated systems to report deaths, excess-mortality figures can be misleading. That’s because the most obvious way to calculate them can fail to account for changes in population structure.

thank you for the link (apologize for the rant....forgot THIS drug was given to me....thank goodness for Dr. Wolfgang Fitz. The man loves funky socks )

Before I dig around more, in this information....first poke at looking, can't find data on trumped or not trumped (vaxxed, versus NOT being )

Is the differentiation in THIS link? Figured, it would include that, but, that might reveal that the fully vaccinated, were, indeed, being admitted into our health care systems "hospitals".

So, the ask is....should I keep looking for data breakdowns, and find columns with heading; vaccinated with.......?

the actual specific vaccine, would also be nice, in these types of reports, also.........sick of reading studies that include ONLY the mRna shots.

why IS it, that tRump is the only bad guy, with a bad guy past ?

The welfare system (do no harm ;) , via some phony baloney grant...AND....THIS company: funded this YALE report. Medical community are such sluts. from your link:
Funding: UK Research and Innovation (Medical Research Council) and National Institute56
of Health Research (Grant ref: MC_PC_19056
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog ... -new-light

The Medical Research Council, founded in 1913, is the agency in Britain responsible for co-ordinating and funding the nation's medical research.

The only problem with the MRC's response to such warnings about benzos? It appears to have sat for thirty years on the very documents that warned about the risks of brain shrinkage in patients taking them. Moreover, the MRC appears to have marked the documents "closed until 2014," despite their obvious importance to public health, given the millions of Britons and North Americans who've been prescribed such drugs.

and this,,,what a stupid system. Thank fully, the USA isn't stupid enough to use this kind of drug approval system

One possible reason why the MRC sat on this story for thirty years? The regulatory agency in Britain that oversees the safety of medicines, the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, is funded entirely by the drug companies it is meant to oversee. A 2005 parliamentary report in Britain spells that out with remarkable precision in paragraph 98 of its Fourth Report to the House of Commons:
