Cases have dropped 90% since the peak 30 days ago, hospitalizations have dropped 70%. The Governor had indicated that restrictions would be lifted when cases dropped, hospitalizations dropped sufficiently.

Must be a problem for right wing keyboard warriors to have the NJ Gov follow through as predicted.
Thrilled he is following through, and not assigning any political motive to it either. Also, no more of a problem than for Joe Biden, not a left wing keyboard warrior, just the POTUS. How many times did he assert that if you got vaccinated, you wouldn't get Covid? Misinformation or a deliberate lie? Your thoughts?
Not disinformation and certainly not a lie, when they thought that was the case. Delta proved them wrong, Omicron proved it 100% wrong about infections.

Vaccinations, even at their very highest point of measured efficacy (Alpha), were not 100% and I don't recall anyone, including Biden say they were. Vaccinations were the best defense, a game changer certainly, so it was not misinformation to say so. Unfortunately, a huge percentage of Americans refused to get vaccinated and continued to provide tons of dry tinder for spread.

And even against Omicron, fully vaccinated and boosted have significant resistance to infection, cases are milder, and spread is less...than if not fully vaccinated and boosted...and way, way better than unvaccinated.

This expectation for absolutes, for perfect communications and predictions, is misguided, and IMO far too often motivated by political partisanship. My sense is that most of these folks are trying hard to get it 'right' but there are those who simply aren't...and the latter group is a serious problem for all the rest.

... just a quote from McMaster in the article referenced (towards the end). Study not published yet.
Edward Mills, a health-sciences professor at Canada’s McMaster University, is co-investigator of the Together clinical trial, another rigorous study that is evaluating nine different repurposed drugs as COVID-19 therapies, including ivermectin. It recently completed the ivermectin analysis but found it “did not demonstrate an important benefit,” Mills said in an email. The research may be published this month, he said.

Not disinformation and certainly not a lie, when they thought that was the case. Delta proved them wrong, Omicron proved it 100% wrong about infections.

Who is "they" ?

The "case", would that be the approval of a chemical compound, based on information that it actually worked ?

Variants proved them wrong, whomever, "them" is........but, curious....what was proven wrong ?

That trump's fake "vaccine" don't work ? exactly

who told "them" that they wood work, in the first plaace ? another exactly.

and you STILL want to force others to take something that clearly, does NOT work. at all. spare us the "mild symptom" crap.....over 100 million US covid survivors had the exact same experiences. And F the unvaccinated, let them die (fittniseasy)

You agree, the vaccines don't work. Why push for them, to be mandatory? It's straight up mafia crap......

i've only seen the outline for it. 9 or 11? drugs with 2,000 participants was what i saw also. so maybe 100-200 person arms?

sounds like most others. is there a link to study results published yet? i didn't pursue in earnest after seeing the above prior.

Which they likely won't, though you can be sure that many of his colleagues are shaking their heads at this particular piece of "analysis" chock full of predetermined outcomes and fallacies.

There's this myth promoted by the right wing that "elite" academic institutions like Hopkins and Harvard don't tolerate highly conservative thinkers in their faculty. Quite untrue.

If you want to understand where Hancke is coming from, just understand that in addition to CATO, he's also affiliated with the Heartland Institute.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heartland_Institute

But having such folks as part of a diverse faculty is important, even if they are sometimes ridiculously partisan in their views and not so great in their work. Same goes for super liberal folks.

But yeah, usually Hopkins would put out a press release about academic work that's supported by the the institution. Pretty clear this was not, but who knows, they may yet acknowledge it in some way...I'd be interested to see what sort of reaction it's getting in the student paper...

This is the guy who wrote the Forbes article (Bruce Y. Lee):
I am a writer, journalist, professor, systems modeler, computational and digital health expert, medical doctor, avocado-eater, and entrepreneur, not always in that order. Currently, I am a Professor of Health Policy and Management at the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Public Health, Executive Director of PHICOR (@PHICORteam) and Center for Advanced Technology and Communication in Health (CATCH), and founder and CEO of Symsilico. My previous positions include serving as Professor By Courtesy at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, Executive Director of the Global Obesity Prevention Center (GOPC) at Johns Hopkins University, Associate Professor of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Associate Professor of Medicine and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Pittsburgh, and Senior Manager at Quintiles Transnational, working in biotechnology equity research at Montgomery Securities, and co-founding a biotechnology/bioinformatics company. My work has included developing computer approaches, models, and tools to help health and healthcare decision makers in all continents (except for Antarctica). This has included serving as the Principal Investigator of research grants from a wide variety of sponsors such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), National Science Foundation (NSF), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), UNICEF, USAID, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Global Fund. I have authored over 250 scientific publications and three books. I've also written articles for The New York Times, Time, The Guardian, The HuffPost, STAT, and the MIT Technology Review and others. My work and expertise have appeared in leading media outlets such as The New York Times, ABC, USA Today, Good Morning America, Tamron Hall Show, BBC, The Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, CBS News, Businessweek, U.S. News and World Report, Bloomberg News, Reuters, National Public Radio (NPR), National Geographic, MSN, and PBS. Follow me on Twitter (@bruce_y_lee) but don’t ask me if I know martial arts.
This is nothing like a Facebook fact check.

Read the article in full. Then you should understand why the original not-really Johns Hopkins "working paper" is pretty much worthless.

YA….pretend it’s all 1000% accurate.

Now what? They define a mask mandate anywhere in the State/Country as a “lockdown”. The authors think California is the same as Florida in terms of gov restrictions.

So if you’re foxnation, trying to be use this paper to say Floridas choices were better than Californias far more restrictive laws? This paper is utterly useless.

Yeah, no you didn’t.

All this tells me is that you didn’t bother reading a word of it.

Do YOU think that California and Florida have the same exact set of governmental Covid restrictions ?

If your answer is “yes”, well, this paper is for you!!

If your answer is “no”, no amount of math make this paper useful to you.

I read much of it, I am the one that originally posted it. I also do not need a paper to tell me lockdowns for an entire country were a not so good idea. In typical fashion, you boiled it all down in to that nice binary roux, so you can then open and close your box of choice, depending on which way they wind blows. :P
