There were two Jays. Simple man/ball drill and they did not execute.
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
how many pages can we get out of this? 5? 6? however many, it's better than talking about covid.
PS - I like the uniform bracket, and honestly, black, columbia blue and white is one of the best sets of colors out there. It's a really great palette. UA has done a really nice job with the unis. And really happy they kept the Cascade lids. I know it's stupid, but the Warrior and STX helmets just don't do it for me.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
I didn’t like Cascade when they first came out.
Stylish, yes.
But they had an odd “feature” that a few teams saw firsthand: certain hits to the forehead could cause the players brow to split open.
We saw this at Hopkins with Kyle Barrie bleeding like a stuck pig, soaking the front of his jersey to such a degree that he swapped for a different jersey and number mid-game.
I’m sure Cascade fixed that long ago. But at the time, I couldn’t help but think - how the hell does a wound like that occur? And it wasn’t the first that year.

NHL released team retro jerseys for next season. I don't know the Hopkins jersey history well enough to be able to make a case for which one is the best for this. I know when they introduced clc they had a stand w/many of the jerseys through the years but I don't know how far back that went.
The baller move would be in 8 years to do the 1928 olympic jerseys.

terp hoops plans for the season. No fans, cutouts, out of conference games w/in bussing distance. I don't know the health/sports administration guidelines here well enough. As some of you had mentioned because of our location and teams wanting to minimize travel I'm sure we're a popular phone call for scheduling right now.

I agree, I like the diagonal line with the US Olympic Shield on the lax player second from the right, but I am not sure it would fly:jhu06 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 3:23 pm NHL released team retro jerseys for next season. Beware, Hopkins is calling asking for donations again.
I just told them to talk to Mr. American Samoa.

Uh oh, Georgetown just announced it's only inviting seniors back to campus for the spring. Not sure what that means for their athletics but I can't imagine it's anything good. Someone check on '06
(Last I heard Hopkins was still planning for a return to on-campus learning/activities in the spring, but that was before this new giant surge in cases.)

Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
New state wide restrictions on activities went into effect today in Maryland. If you look at the Ivy decision that puts everything on hold until March at the earliest and add in Georgetown’s move of seniors on campus only it’s not looking good for a season. In my opinion there is no way Ivies cancel and Hopkins plays and as I’ve said previously the call on the campus opening will need to be made very shortly.HopFan16 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 10:07 am Uh oh, Georgetown just announced it's only inviting seniors back to campus for the spring. georgetown is playing mens basketball. Maryland (and michigan and penn state and rutgers) haven't participated in b1g football but stats show up. Good luck to the ivies. They have broader problems beyond the playing field to work out right now. If you read most of these stories about ivy athletics, about 35 percent of their student body seats are basically for sale. Give me the premed d level kid on a saturday night over that darien cornell equestrian with drexel grades whose parents spent 5 years on lessons all day.

Kids are going to get corona whether they play or not. It's unfortunate, but it's reality.

06, that's pretty obnoxious re Ivies. Untrue as well, but this isn't the age of truth, so ahh well.jhu06 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 8:15 pmhttps://guhoyas.com/news/2020/11/13/men ... ealth.aspxflalax22 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 3:11 pmNew state wide restrictions on activities went into effect today in Maryland. But hey, how many premeds does Hopkins Men's lax have on its roster?
Given the vaccine effectiveness levels, I'm getting more optimistic about a possible lax season being ok to do (on-campus student bodies, from a public health perspective), though likely abbreviated and late start.
However it may get swamped by what's going to happen over the winter pre-vaccine. Might just overwhelm. But summer ball looks very possible.

There's a video of Koleton Marquis playing wall ball against some chopped down trees that's going viral on Twitter and Instagram, thanks in part to Paul Rabil sharing it with his followers on both platforms. Nice to see Rabil supporting one of Milliman's recruits. Even Petro re-tweeted the video, though I don't know if he knew at the time that it was of a JHU recruit.

The kid's box handles are evident...excited about his potential. That's assuming there is still a world in 2023, when we'd first see him on Homewood Field.

IL story on Grimes: https://www.insidelacrosse.com/article/ ... kins/57034
Johns Hopkins coach Peter Milliman recruited him briefly during his initial commitment phase, and though he hasn’t been able to coach him yet in person, they’ve started to get to know each other via Zoom calls.
“He’s a kid who’s got a lot of ability. He shoots the cr@p out of the ball. Coaches appreciate the way he plays, the commitment to the little things, being a great teammate and working hard. He was the type of young man I was looking forward to coaching when I got this job,” Milliman says. “He’s jumping right into it with the older guys. He’s working on some of the parts of the game we talk about. He’s doing well and he’s the type of guy who’s going to care about being successful.”

Two bits of news.
Looks like Johns Hopkins is building a 150,000 square foot student center. When completed, it may be one of the finest college student centers in the nation.

Second, Princeton is welcoming all students, graduate and undergraduate, back to campus.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
Princeton built its own Covid lab on campus from scratch—a massive undertaking given they don't have a med school. Obviously Hopkins won't have that issue and already has a fairly robust student testing plan. ALL undergrads on campus will be tested a minimum of twice a week in the spring and I'd imagine athletes could be tested more often than that. Even with this recent surge in cases around the country, I am cautiously optimistic that there will be some kind of season, though it likely won't look anything like what we're used to. For what it's worth, as of a few days ago—even with the knowledge of the spike in cases—Hopkins was still planning to move forward with the re-opening plan outlined a few weeks ago. If things continue to get worse and worse then that may change the equation but it doesn't seem like things have to this point.DocBarrister wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 3:13 pm Two bits of news.

That student center looks pretty awesome—Homewood is a beautiful campus but it has long badly needed a central place for students to hang out that isn't D-level of the library.
