So we have to believe that all those people with co-morbidities would have just died anyhow? They had a co-morbidity that the virus just pushed them over the edge. Happens with viral infections right(it does)......... So we would expect similar excess deaths every year when cold and flu season hits would we not? Or...perhaps it is because of this particular virus that these people died. IT is a BS postulation imo. An extra 150K(ball park here) just do not die every year due to viral infections....if so there would be no real excess deaths right now would there.

BTW...using this logic, most cancer deaths would not be from cancer. The original tumor for which a person diagnosed rarely is the cause of death. Usually it is secondary metastasis that get people. It is a result of the co-morbidity of the first tumor.

Is it your position that all these increased deaths have nothing to do with the virus? That it is all blown it of proportion?
Thanks Bart, appreciate your knowledge and opinion in this area. I posted this because to my untrained scientific mind it looks "interesting," as I stated. To my untrained scientific mind, what you're saying seems logical as well. Debate is good...cancellation/censorship isn't. I'm sure you agree.

It would be great to hear from others with your background and/or understanding, in the interest of open discourse.
 You don't want open discourse, tech. You NEVER have. If you did, you wouldn't run away and hide every time someone asked a question you didn't want to answer, because it levels your position. It's why you call me a "lawyer wanna be". As if using logic to find the best idea is somehow a bad thing.

You didn't answer Bart's question, bolded above. You want discourse? Great. Answer his question, and we'll discuss your answer.
He just lost interest…
After one single solitary question from Bart? Yeah, Ok. Wow, what discourse.

It's perfectly fine to lose interest in a conversation, or a poster....in this case, your's truly.

But to claim that he wants discourse, yet runs to the exit every time someone asks a question of tech, asking to clarify a position?

That's not discourse. And that's not someone who's here to share viewpoints. And again: that's fine. But don't claim a desire for viewpoints...when the reality is, the desire is for the SAME viewpoints. Others need not apply.
Maybe but civility in discourse would lead one to communicate that they think they’re at the end of their focus on a line of inquiry. Not just disappear and then show back up whining that others don’t want discourse after running and hiding.
 This one? Lecturing about "civility"... f'ing hilarious.

And oh wasn't it you who bailed out on a fan in your: what is socialism discussion?

You could not be less self aware.

You are setting up and choosing to argue an "either/or" position, when it clearly can be both and more; it is boolean logic, not binary.

Most certainly shutting down the world caused excess deaths... that would otherwise not have taken place. To try and set up tech, or anyone for that matter, is disingenuous. If you watched the entire video...the man simply states it is intriguing and not fully understood, but the stats speak for themselves; nothing more.
Set up Tech? How so? Disingenuous? Please.

We are not discussing any excess deaths caused by shutting down, we are talking about excess deaths with a COVID diagnosis. But to implicate that the shuttling down has lead a huge spikes in excess death is an equally bad take imo.

I did watch the entire video and that is why I replied. IMO, it is neither intriguing or a good take. The idea that these individuals with co-morbidities may had died anyhow is complete crap and not really intriguing at all.
Thanks youth but I didn't feel as though "set up." I will say that Bart was a bit defensive with his answer, most likely because he thought I was posting Campbell as fact, which I was not and tried to address that with him.
Defensive? Was not my intent. Sorry if it was taken as such. I was posting because I see it as a bad take.

Everyone should read this to get a realistic feel for what is going on in rural healthcare in the time of COVID - omicron.

Whether you want to call it or not, these rural healthcare systems ARE BROKEN and they were broken by COVID with a big assist of the unvaccinated.

Don't think there is any question, even though no solid studies have been published, too early with only 6-8 weeks of experience but the anecdotal evidence seems overwhelming that omicron is significantly more contagious and at the same time about 50% less sever in infecting an unvaccinated person. At the same time producing very mild symptoms in the vaccinated (breakthrough cases).

In my opinion omicron is unlikely to be the end of COVID. Far too many happy feet running around thinking and saying we will be done with COVID in a month. That's not going to happen, delta is still around and infecting people and there are other variants still lurking. As a nation we are setting our selves up for a real meltdown of the rural healthcare system if the optimists are wrong. Healthcare workers are at their end, between wave after wave fatigue and the irrationality of the unvaccinated. Hope I am wrong.

I’ve literally eaten w silverware at a UVA-GaTech tailgait. They had Brie and blue cheese and the type of crackers you never actually buy but people put out around the holidays as well as chicken cordon blue. It was very good but reminded me of Union College tailgaits.

Fleeces I give a pass to as a white collar early 40s white guy. I would be hypocritical otherwise. But I do like my garbage food and great fingers barely hanging onto that 7th canned beer at a tailgait.

(Actually come when I lived in DC I pulled the gut bag out of a Franzia box, stuck it inside my button down shirt and took it inside a UVA football game, early mid 2000s, and was “peeing” in friends cups on the hill by the one end zone all first half)

I agree Tony Fauci should just stop talking already.
Gottleib has already led the FDA and is currently on the board of both Pfizer and Illumina. He is also partner in a private equity venture capital group called New Enterprise Associates and is also a resident Fellow at American Enterprise Institute.

Besides taking a huge pay cut, I doubt he relishes going back into government service at this point. In addition, he 's a Republican (Trump appointee if you can believe it).

That said, he is a very good on TV especially CBS answering specific questions directed to whom rather than pontificating as Fauci and Wallensky tend to do sometimes.

Graham Nash calls out RFK Jr for illegal use of his copyrighted song at DC rally today - apparently not the only songwriter he copied illegally

The CSNY legend took to Instagram Saturday to inform fans that RFK Jr.’s use of the 1971 song — also known as “We Can Change the World” — was “not authorized” and that Nash has begun “taking steps to cause the cessation of its use.” Nash’s manager Mark Spector told Rolling Stone Saturday, “A cease-and-desist letter is in the works.”

“I do not support his anti-vaccination position as the history of the efficacy of the Covid19 vaccines is well documented,” Nash added. “When I wrote ‘We Can Change the World’ I did not expect that an institution such as this one that claims that it fights for individuals’ freedoms would so readily and recklessly infringe upon and, by its association with its cause, mischaracterize the intellectual property rights of a songwriter for its own purposes.”

ftr, i'd like to go on record that i think i'd flush the toilet as a guest. and would like john to, too.

could stockton and kyrie co-exist effectively in a backcourt on the road? we'll never know.
No. Stick it to him because he was asked, politely I am sure, and he refused. His money is no good there. My philosophy is if it bothers someone enough to ask me to do something and many other people are doing it and I am a guest, no problem. It’s no big deal. Rubbers don’t alway stop pregnancies so why should anyone bother? Feels better without it….like breathing easier without a mask. Masks don’t work either. What’s the point.

I agree. He's certainly not helping. But the thing is? A new voice won't change any views or move the ball forward, imho.
What's this?

You break balls re anything Fauci and now you "agree"? Amazing.

No a guy that had been asked to wear a mask but refused. I wonder if Few decided to refuse orders? You don’t have to flush your toilet after a dump, but if you ask your house guests, I would guess that you would expect them to comply. But it’s their right.
i dunno. when it comes to that point, i'm surely not defending his position. i am saying it looks like few (and many others) are refusing to comply with orders:

All I know is that Stockton had been asked repeatedly. It’s enough for me. I would go out of my way to be accommodating but I was raised to be respectful and considerate. Life is short.

My guess is Few and others have the special circumstances the school alluded to. The school’s policy may be to reduce risk as much as reasonable as opposed to eliminating risks. In my field, we are willing to accept a certain amount of risks and in some aspects we want to eliminate risk. We can always call off Basketball I suppose or ban fans….putting on a mask is no big deal. Lawrence wore one in Arabia and it wasn’t mandatory.
