Quint, the Ivy hater has Cornell at #6, and when" Quint the Ivy hater" gets here, everybody's gonna jump for joy.

Quint has 'em at 6 and IL at 7. Maybe it's your opinion that's "laughable."

Cornell is 10th in SOS. https://lacrossereference.com/stats/str ... le-d1-men/joewillie78 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 10:18 amGBR
He is welcome to his opinion, BUT when you beat the #1 RPI team, have the #2 SOS, and are #6 RPI, I don't think my ranking them #5 is complete homerism.
I think Quints and the IL rankings kind of proved that.
Penn, Cuse, and ND next 3. I would think that are SOS would go to #1 after this gauntlet.

I would not completely dismiss Colgate in that race.QuestionMark wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 10:37 am BU has Dook Wednesday and Yale down the road. We'll see how the 10 man ride plays. Hell In A Bucket. 15 seniors and grad students with talent and experience on all 3 levels. Goalie has been outstanding. They've won 2 PL regular seasons in a row, won a PL playoff and beaten Army 3 times in a row.
Fun team to watch when they're on. Face off dot is the Achilles Heel. Colletti went 17 for 26. BU wins by 5. Yale and Duke are also excellent on X so uphill battle.
Regardless, PL is won by the 1 or 2 seed. Winning 3 games in 5 days is a big ask.
BU v Army will determine the sole PL rep in the tournament. Too bad because both could win games.
I'm not sure what metric this is as when you type in Laxreference Rpi, it shows a chart that has Cornell #6 RPI and #2 SOS. Is this a different metric?coda wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 10:30 amCornell is 10th in SOS. https://lacrossereference.com/stats/str ... le-d1-men/joewillie78 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 10:18 amGBR

Sincere question on how this metric works. Georgetown has played 8 games. As per this metric, they have wins over #s 1, 6, 9, 20,21 and 36. Losses are to 5 and 18. Does the 18 loss and 36 win carry more weight than the quality wins and losses?coda wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 10:30 amCornell is 10th in SOS. https://lacrossereference.com/stats/str ... le-d1-men/joewillie78 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 10:18 amGBR

Wins and losses vs the schedule are not part of the SOS formula. Its just who you have played.HGK wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 10:52 amSincere question on how this metric works. I barely squeaked by calculus at Cornell, and all these lacrosse metrics make that course look like child's play.HGK wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 10:52 amSincere question on how this metric works. Molo,
I agree that #5 seems a bit high, but not egregious. Though it is hard for me to take the RPI argument seriously when I find RPI to be such a laughable metric.joewillie78 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 8:15 pmMaybe, but they just beat the #1 RPI team, and are currently #6 RPI, and #2 SOS. Pretty good resume, so far.

Excellent point. Laughable metric, but not one that can be ignored...and one to embrace passionately when it favours your (our) team!joewillie78 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 12:17 pmIcgrad,ICGrad wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 11:47 amI agree that #5 seems a bit high, but not egregious. I absolutely agree about RPI as the all worldly metric, BUT it seems to drive the selection committee. As long as Cornell stays high in that metric, I have less of a feeling that the committee can screw us over again.
