There is no reputable hot dog stand in these parts that does not offer a meat hot sauce as a condiment. The meat is actually chopped up so fine it just blends in with the other ingredients. There are about a thousand different takes on a meat hot sauce. All I can say is taste one before you put it on your dog and see if you like it. My go to dog is my own creation. A Zweigles pop open white on a DV bakery sausage roll. Split down the middle with chopped raw white onions, Frenches yellow mustard and a spoonful of my wife's homemade meat hot sauce. My only request to all of you folks out there...please, please, please, please don't boil your hot dogs. Your missing out on the real deal experience of gourmet hot dog dining. :D

+1, hot dogs were meant to be grilled outside preferably over charcoal. The inhumanity of boiling a hotdog and then serving it on a soggy wet bun. It takes an upstate NY person to understand the science of cooking a proper hot dog. :D

Not only grilled but grilled so the pop open parts are charred perfectly. No upstanding upstate NY'er even thinks about eating anything but a pop open hot dog. Breaks my heart to see anyone buying Oscar meyer "hot dogs" at Danny's store.

A man after my own heart... That is why I have a love affair with Zweigles pop open hots. To all you folks out there that have never been able to indulge in what a REAL hot dog should taste like... to quote Mr T... " I pity the fool" :D

I brought some Zweigles out to one of my daughters after game tail gates and grilled them up for the team, should have had left overs but ended up with none. Had a bunch of midwestern players on her team including her roommate. Roommate's dad and another Midwest guy asked me to bring them packs every time I headed out to see a game. Both had never had such a hot dog and well, they really liked them.

Before the birth of pop open hots the very best hot dogs came from Tobin Packing Company and were called "Tobins First Prize Hots" I have an admitted bias because my grandfather worked for Tobins for many years. He drove a delivery truck all over upstate. They were also known back then as ARPEAKO. There was a very famous hot dog place when i was growing up called Ackermans. They were the legends of charcoal hot dogs in the day. Their secret was twofold, they only used charcoal and they use to dip the hot dogs in a container of peanut oil before putting them on the grill. Best damn hot dog in the world bar none, their own homemade meat hot sauce was the cherry on top. When I was a kid in the mid 60s a treat for me was to go with my dad when he would pick my mom up from work at the phone company at 11 pm at night. My mom would be starving and we would drive to Ackermans so my mom could get a hot dog. I usually would get some onion rings. It was not so much the hot dogs but the memory of a very special time I shared with my mom and dad. I think most of us that have lost their parents have these memories that we will never forget.

I was lucky growing up in Rochester eating Zweigles, great pizza places all over the city and of course Abbott’s frozen custard. Fortunately, being active as a kid and having good genes, that diet didn’t affect me too badly.

I found it pretty ironic after moving to Texas that the big hot dog chain was James Coney Island, featuring Hebrew National, while Zweigles of course were called Texas hots.

Well, here comes your non Hoffman's guy. Their white hots are terrific, regular hots, not so much and I wouldn't stand in line for thirty seconds (one second more realistically) at Heid's for a dog. The casing on their dogs is like a piece of thin leather and I just don't find them to be anything special. Heard all about Heid's and how great the place and dogs were when I first starting hanging around Cuse, was hugely disappointed when I went there and tried them, doubt I've been back three times since....and that was a long time ago. Parkview hots are a much better dog, IMO, they're sold pretty much side by side and when I want dogs I'll grab the Parkviews over the Hoffman's every time.
Am with you with the Zweigels too, 6, good dogs, better than Hoffman's by a long shot.

Who are you rooting for? Who do you think will win?

I'm rooting for the Bills but I don't know if they'll be able to pull off the upset. The Tampa Bay/Green Bay game--I have no idea who will win, but for me, a proud Cheatriots hater, I win either way: If the Bucs win, it rubs more salt in Belichick's and Kraft's wounds. If Green Bay wins, Brady gets some of his comeuppance for his cheating Deflategate role.

I’m with you Cletus.

In my thinking, no team deserves a Super Bowl title more than the Buffalo Bills now that the Eagles have won one. ;) Talk about having put in the time. I am glad Andy got his, but now it’s Buffalo’s turn. I also think there is some funny business going on with clearing Patrick Mahomes to play. Hopefully he is really OK, but this smacks of league interference.

Don’t really care about the other game. Dislike both quarterbacks. Both are jerks. Never forgave Brady for not shaking Nick’s hand. Classless. Not to mention cheating by intentionally having footballs deflated.

GB/TB game - I'll go with TB: 30-24 (although Id prefer GB)
I'm hoping Bills, but think they run out of gas - I'll go KC 24-20

I agree with you re the Bills. My goodness--those long suffering fans. To finally win one would be great, like it was for the Eagles, and as you mentioned, like it was for Andy.

Have you heard of the new documentary that came out claiming the Cheatriots were framed and railroaded by the league for Deflategate? Probably has been in the works for years, funded by the Kraft Media and Propaganda Department. It's astounding what lengths this team will go to either deny or justify/minimize their cheating (Everyone cheats!). A writer for one of our papers here in Boston calls it "Institutional Arrogance"

If Tommy Terrific pulls of a W he'll be the undisputed god of all gods. If he wins the SB he'll just be God. This is a mighty tough test for those Bucs against Arron and his Pack. The Pack has been on a roll, and looking pretty darn smooth. I don't see Tommy's boys winning but if Gronk catches the winning TD pass they're going to have to make a brighter gold jacket for their induction.
Bills-Chiefs, my Bills Mafia member friend sez Bills by 3.
Aint no more Norwood with the Bills.

Bills all the way. I have only been a fan since they drafted some guy named Simpson.
