Duke is one helluva degree. Outside of Ivy's... maybe a ND or UM degree would be comparable?

Chaminade West would welcome him. ND could get him back to Wall Street too.

That would make sense, Penn one of few IVY's who takes transfers and he'd certainly be a Day 1 starter.
Hm, I think every lax ivy allows transfers?
I thought Princeton and a few other's didn't but maybe your right.
Much to my dismay Princeton does not take transfers. Seems like the admin takes pride in being the most strict in the league (see their disastrous Covid policies). To my knowledge all of the other ivies take transfers, but vary in terms of how active they are with it and what sports take transfers. Off the top of my head Yale and Penn have been most willing recently to take transfers.

They do take general transfers - it is just rare like most of the ivies and top privates (for undergraduate transfers):

Huge respect to Chaminade, but how often have they beaten St Anthony’s the last five years? The rivalry seems one sided these days? Duke South.

I can’t name one transfer to the Princeton lacrosse team in program history. Can you? So they may take transfers in rare cases as a whole, but don’t see any evidence that applies to lacrosse. I’d be thrilled to be wrong and get Balsamo on the team haha. Just saying Penn and Yale seem to be more likely from Ivy.

That's because Princeton didn't take transfers as a matter of policy until fall 2018 after discontinuing the transfer program in 1990. Still, to your point, I don't expect any undergraduate transfers to lax given the small number of transfers to begin with,

Good clarity on their policies though thanks. In some ways I think it helps them in recruiting (and ivies as a whole) in that guys know transfers won’t take their spots.

In terms of Ivy transfer activity, Brown has taken 5 in the last 2 years. I think that makes them the most active recently.

Aside from TD, who has transferred into Yale for lacrosse? Brown, Cornell and Penn have been more active but not sure of rising juniors for Brown. Harvard took a transfer from Amherst a few years ago. As for Princeton, supposedly Matt Moore and TD wanted to transfer in… :(

Yep. Supposedly transfers will be from ex-military, community college or other low/moderate income candidates. Won’t be another lacrosse player from Chevy Chase or Garden City or so it seems.

Penn has taken some recently, including Mac Eldridge and Connell Kumar, both from UVA. Could definitely see Balsamo going to there. They need the offensive punch.

EDIT: Sorry misread your post, but the point still stands. Penn seems like a likely destination

Thanks. I can see Penn being and option. Burkinshaw was also a UVA transfer to Penn. I would speculate that Harvard, Princeton, Yale and Dartmouth are not likely transfer destinations.

attackman Eric Malever has entered the portal as a grad transfer, per a source. Posting 15g/22a as a senior, the former Top 10 recruit racked up 105 points in three seasons in College Park, missing all of 2023 after putting up 48 points for the national champs in ‘22.

Good players.

Think the transfer portal will always have significant talent in it. It won’t end with the Covid classes. If anything, NIL and even (possibly in the future) direct payments (for example, “transfer bonuses”) will draw players into the portal. Most transfers will transfer for the most common reasons today: academic, lacrosse, and personal reasons.
