Good to hear. Same as B1G, CAA, Big East...
Nice framing of the big questions, @bearlaxfan! Can't wait to watch Ivy lax.bearlaxfan wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 2:34 pm Fingers crossed it's @Conference Champ.
Looking at 2022 for:
Yale w/o TD, how will the admittedly talented roster look if not getting 75% of possessions?
Penn & Handly- attack, mid, or swing? Is Berkinshaw still there?
Cornell new HC but from within the program. Post Teat, see Princeton post Sowers comment below
Princeton post Sowers, how much of the 2020 promising start can be duplicated?
Harvard, new coach, can record mirror recruiting prowess?
Brown life after Goss, year christ, how do we even count the years after covid? for Daly to do more than just make IL tourney.
Dartmouth, seemed like progress was being made, now how will they look?
"Hair on fire" is not a phrase I recognized right away, but I like it. As for "hand wringing," well, I'm hoping for the best, but bracing myself for a year where the Ivy isn't as strong as 2020 was shaping up to be. Glad to see the Ivies' SOS looks good. Cornell will get to trot out its new coach, who I understand contributed to Milliman's success, while we should get to see a full year of Harvard under its highly touted new head coach. Brown's head coach won a handful of national championships at the D3 level, but hasn't yet led the Bears into the NCAA tourney. Penn coach Murphy stepped up big-time in 2019, and I wonder what kind of young talent he has that might be ready to burst onto the scene. Yale's head coach has little left to prove, but the off year and 2022 roster size present him a different sort of challenge. Princeton looked ready in 2020 to burst back into the national elite, and maybe coach Madalon can prove there really is life after Sowers. And will Dartmouth get its first Ivy win in quite some years? Should be a fun season; but then, just about anything should be better than not playing.calourie wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 1:05 pm https://lacrossereference.com/stats/str ... le-d1-men/
Interesting SOS listing from Lax Reference. Not sure how the ratings are arrived at but they show the Ivies with a nice leg up for getting more than an AQ bid into the NCAAs in terms of SOS scheduling trailing only the ACC significantly and perhaps the BIG by a little. Lots of hand wringing regarding the Ivies having to deal with a year off, as well as the advantage many big name schools have in terms of transfers and 5th year eligible players, but I for one think the Ivy players will come out of the gates with their hair on fire as a result of finally being able to get out on the field again and see some meaningful action.
I think worse than 2020 is inevitable. They had arguably 3 Top 5 and 4 Top 10 teams up to that point in 2020. I think something approximating 2019 with Yale being in the Top 10 and someone from Penn/Cornell/Princeton joining them or potentially beating them to the AQ and getting two teams to the tournament would be a strong bounce back for the league and set them up well for the future.FannOLax wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 7:23 pm"Hair on fire" is not a phrase I recognized right away, but I like it. Who did they scrimmage?ctbagataway wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 7:55 pm Just a scrimmage, but I heard it was 11-7 at the half, and then 19+-9 final. Harvard's production was fairly widespread.
Can't wait to see the Ivies back in action. Surprised to see Harvard in 6th.FannOLax wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 11:28 am The Ivy League released a pre-season poll: https://ivyleague.com/sports/mlax
1. Yale
2. Penn
3. Cornell
4. Princeton
5. Brown
6. Harvard
7. Dartmouth
Brown can take extra motivation from being ranked outside of the League Tournament (top-4) teams. Yale benefits from players having taken time away from school and therefore returns players from the 2018 national championship team. Anyone have any news from Harvard's scrimmage yesterday?
Good news, and basically as we predicted.Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 9:40 pm https://goprincetontigers.com/news/2022 ... n-2-1.aspx
