Yup, 23 years ago.

Mine are from most recent census.

Far from a poor town, it's average America economically though more white than average.

But sure, not as affluent as some areas. But it sure ain't bottom 20% poor.
You've been behind the discussion from the start. Not knowing MO or MD.
Then using current data, trying to depict my hometown in the 1950-60's, oblivious to all the changes & the nature of development sense.
When you first asked, I should have just replied -- never mind.

If you & ffg choose to brand me as an affluent, elitist (like you), knock yourself out.
This is a lacrosse forum after all. I owe it all to hard working parents, their extended family members, a resourceful wife & the US Navy.

obtw -- I've seen similar changes in SoMd since I arrived there in 1977, & am still in touch there too.
sorry, you're mistaken: when I picked up the discussion it was explicitly about the Eastern Shore of Maryland. And then Southern Maryland.

My misunderstanding was your mentioning the poor rural town your family lives in still today...in the context of that conversation. I mistakenly assumed you were describing a town in MD, forgetting prior discussions of you having grown up in MO. I wondered which town in SoMD you were describing, as that was what had been getting discussed.

What was the relevance of your hometown to the discussion of the Eastern Shore or SoMD? I still don't see that connection, really.

But yeah, the town you grew up in was and still remains pretty middle America, average economically (though I bet lower cost of living than major coastal suburbs), and whiter than average. But not the kind or economically desperate place that some of rural America suffers. (partly do racial composition, and the legacy of past discrimination in MO, I suspect).

I make no assumptions about you other than what you post. Sounds like you grew up in a relatively well off family family (relative to immediate neighbors) with corresponding social status...big fish in small pond. Nothing wrong with that, of course...and you managed to get out of town, served, etc. More power to you. From your own statements, you are affluent. Nothing wrong with that of course as well!

But do you or I really understand on a personal basis what it's like to grow up poor in an economically and socially disadvantaged area, rural or urban? At best, I think we can merely try hard to be empathetic. But we should have the humility to admit that we really don't know.

I wouldn't usually throw around "elitist" as a pejorative, but your own form of "elitism" has been your frequent claim or acceptance of deserving of special respect due to your military service...frankly, I see more of that coming from other bootlickers than you, yourself, but I don't recall you ever rejecting the bootlicking...personally, I respect the dignity of anyone's hard work, but I do also value the earned expertise through education and/or experience...whether that's of a plumber or a scientist. They ain't perfect, they are human beings, but they've earned a level of expertise that I respect...just as I respect yours. and appreciate your contributions in these threads in your fields of earned expertise.

But I don't see the corresponding respect in return.
You don't deserve any respect MD. Respect is earned and you sure as hell have not earned it. I would not expect OS to give it to you. Imagine this, a candy ass liberal Republican, that would be you MD, trying to lecture an actual bona fide lifelong Republican who served his country with all of the dignity and respect he was raised with. Good prospect for one of your payday loan financial institutions. The lax zoning laws would allow you to share a strip mall with a strip club.
There's space available within walking distance of a couple mobile home "estate" communities. Great opportunity.

Shall I provide reference for mid high mine figures worth of muni debt that I evaluated for asset managers and banks and have sign off from regulators for depositories that have the highest CAMELs rating available?

Or the ones big four auditors signed off on for OTTI calculations on distressed project level debt like a busted TIF financing in biloxi MA on a margaritaville casino development that failed right after it opened on ground leased land?

I can go on about the 15-20 states I’ve spent time in with executives of the banks who serve those communities and their businesses.

Or we can go with “trust me, I enter into these discussion in bad faith, sell stories that aren’t remotely true and misdirect at every turn. Never ever ever actually providing evidence and conflating opeds with news and being intentionally opaque and whining like a biyach all the time because everyone else doesn’t understand but I do being superior to all.”

Not a peep about the poverty at high 60s low 70s HHI. On top of far more expensive cost of living areas. Foolish nonsense from you. My daddy had to bail out bank owners and board members from personal liability but I had it rough and understand poor people better than everyone else and will surely lecture actual poor people which evoke further from less on it. Immoral projection of a bs artist.

That’s the choice you’ve presented. And an entire portfolio of work.

Want to call me a hothead, rough around the edge, uncouth in your rigid morality and inelastic mind, incredibly thirsty for any woman over a 3.46 on a 10pt scale or other fine. But no one who pays attention and sues their brain is going the direction you want them too. Keep ignoring MDs observations on top of mine and living in your fantasy land. Only a moron or a completely dishonest loser who desperately needs to win would hang onto this little aspect where I tossed something up quick on my phone and pretend to ignore all the other evidence you are a dishonest broker of your own story and everything around you. Maybe some dummies here will blindly come to your rescue and ignore 999,999/1,000,000 things and swing form your nuts the way your desperately hanging onto this sole nut in the winter because it seems like you wouldn’t survive otherwise.

The body of work is vast and it’s not in your favor in these pets when it comes to honest analysis or evaluation let alone in the mythology of your on story as you pretend to be expert on everything simply by being you.

#3 & #7 seem best for you but I’ll let you shop for yourself with all that money you don’t have in Annapolis.

Comer Asks Biden for Receipts Related to Brother’s Supposed ‘Loan Repayment"

By DAVID ZIMMERMANN, October 26, 2023

House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer (R., Ky.) is calling on President Joe Biden to provide the receipts that would explain why his brother sent him a $200,000 check, what the White House has deemed a “loan repayment.”

James Biden sent his high-profile brother a personal check worth $200,000 in 2018 on the same day he received a wire loan in the same amount from his now-bankrupt healthcare business, Americore, according to bank records released by House Oversight last week.

Now, the committee wants Joe Biden to provide loan documents in order to substantiate the existence of the supposed loan transaction between the two brothers, Comer wrote in a Thursday letter sent to White House counsel Ed Siskel.

“The White House has claimed Joe Biden loaned James Biden $200,000, and this check was repayment,” the letter read, citing a post from White House spokesman Ian Sams last week. Sams labeled the check a “loan repayment” on Friday, arguing there was nothing concerning about the payment as the committee alleged.

“Records obtained by the Committee do show numerous large incoming transactions into the personal account of James and [his wife] Sara Biden from various entities,” Comer wrote. “Some of these transaction records may have obscured the identity of the true payer, but no records in the Committee’s possession state that Joe Biden made a large loan payment to his brother.”

The Republican congressman asked Siskel to provide “the loan payment, loan agreement, and any other supporting loan documentation” that shows Joe Biden personally loaned James Biden $200,000 before later getting repaid. No such documents have been provided yet.

The check, written on March 1, 2018, is the first piece of hard evidence linking Joe Biden to influence-peddling schemes. It was recently obtained after Comer issued three subpoenas for Hunter and James Biden’s personal and business bank records last month.

House Oversight is continuing to investigate whether the Biden brand opened doors that financially benefited the president, his brother, son, and other relatives.

“Contrary to the White House’s and Democrats’ claims, nothing within the Oversight Committee’s possession clearly shows that Joe Biden did indeed loan his brother large sums of money,” Comer said in a statement provided to National Review. “And even if Joe Biden loaned money to his brother, Joe Biden benefited from his family’s shady influence peddling schemes since the ability of his brother to pay him back depended on cashing in on the Biden last name. We call on President Biden to release all documents related to the loan and whether all applicable IRS filings were properly made.

So your saying that Joe Biden was NEVER involved in unethical and criminal behavior and has no power?? That is pure dumbass thinking on steroids. You folks will move heaven and earth to convict trump and will turn your head and ignore similar behavior when Joe Biden is being accused. IMO both trump and Biden are slimy scumbags and yet one of them will likely be our next president. So proud of our countries leadership, so very proud.

You really ought to give it a rest for a while, Saltine.
You're welcome. The facts keep coming. The Biden family is the gift that keeps giving.
You can stop pounding the table, trying to turn it off. It's not going away.
so sez the pounding poster
Keep wasting bandwidth and a pity your focus remains solely on this case as you whitewash all of the others - Orange Fatso and Clarence to name only, two. You gave Bendiict Arnold Flynn a pass, too.
Droning on and on about something as meaningless as Hunter Biden while ignoring people involved in unethical and criminal behavior that have real power…… the S may equal something else.
You sound stupid.

 I hope it turns out the he was the most corrupt VP in the history of our Nation. PLEASE let this turn out to be the case.

Hope it's in the billions of dollars that he got.

Because nothing will delight me more than to tell you that America will support Joe Biden MORE after finding out he's unfit for office.

Here ya go, OS....front and center of what I've been trying to tell you for over decade, while you and your Party wastes all your effort and energy telling us that "the Dems are bad".

This is what's been happening to our country since Reagan invented Trickle Down Economics, and the Dems picked it up starting with Clinton. And instead of waking your party the F up, and working on solutions to help the bottom 75% of earners in America......you want to prop up Trump, who will do nothing but shovel more money to the rich, all while pretending to "listen to the forgotten voters".

And as has been happening the last 40 years...these rural Americans will give up, move to cities, and become the working poor.

This is what your party is accelerating, OS. Taxes are bad. Helping working class people compete in the 2020's is bad. Health care for all is bad. Education/training for all is bad.

But sure: Hunter Biden.
