After losing 2 of 3 league games, was nice to see Northport handle Massapequa today at the Acompora jamboree.

Girard obviously a huge weapon but the whole team has a lot of character. Can't help but pull for them to finish undefeated and challenge for that mythical national title.
Thanks, good to see you team get back on track. And the Rangers too

The rich get richer. Duke has terrific FOGO from St Anthony's. Next year a FOGO who won 19 of 19 in a recent game is coming down to Durham.

My college has NOT BEATEN Duke since 2004.Through the years some good FOGOs have come through the program without a win over the Danowskis.

God I have a splitting headache.

And the year after that they have Ben McCarthy from the Haverford school… who may end up being the #1 ranked player in the 2024 class when all is said and done…

My Sinai keeps rolling in Suffolk, dominating Massapequa and Comsewogue, then taking out SWR 11-7 last night. I think Jake Spallina taking draws had a stretch of games winning 90% of face offs, or thereabouts. Looks like a heavyweight battle shaping up for June, part III…..the Thrilla in Manila

Meanwhile, Comsewogue upsets BBP in double OT. Man I miss the days when most of these teams were in the same class (although BBP and Mount Sinai weren't nearly as consistently good back then)

Today's a huge day in Suffolk A. The current top six teams all play other top six teams. WM at Smithtown East, Northport at Huntington, and Connetquot at Hills. A big day for seeding. For reference here is the current playoff picture.

Ward Melville 10-0-0 10-2-0 168.000
Connetquot 9-1-0 10-2-0 153.200
Half Hollow Hills 8-2-0 9-2-0 145.000
Northport 8-2-0 10-2-0 144.000
Huntington 7-3-0 7-4-0 134.000
Smithtown East 7-3-0 7-5-0 131.000
Bay Shore 6-4-0 7-5-0 126.000
Sachem East 6-4-0 6-6-0 112.200
Sachem North 5-5-0 7-5-0 110.200
Longwood 5-5-0 7-5-0 108.200

CUT

Commack 4-6-0 4-7-0 101.000
Patchogue-Medford 5-5-0 6-6-0 97.200
South Fork 5-5-0 6-6-0 93.200

The Manhasset FOGO was outstanding. As many folks have commented, this is DOWN year for Garden City. Considering the lopsided possession advantage MHS had, I'm surprised the game wasn't a runaway.

Manhasset really gaining steam here!

Joe

GC used to have a FOGO not long ago, James Sullivan, who was money on 90% of his high school face offs. Does manhasset now have one? Who? Where’s he headed for college?
Cal Girard. Duke.

Joe

Thx!
Finster: I thought Lars was going after that FOGO form Long Island. He's as good as it gets. More headaches for HOOS?

Murf, did you watch it? I was impressed but not surprised with the Trojan’s effort. Not the first time Girard has been the mvp of the game for Manhasset

I watched the game. in it's entirety. As I stated in the above post I thought # 9 was brilliant. Winning EVERY FACEOFF against any opponent is Homeric. That written one would think MHS would have obliterated GC. I had no idea that #9 was the MVP of other MHS vs GC games. Interesting!

If not for a red hot 1st quarter where everything went GC's way except for faceoffs, Manhasset would have won easier. Outscored GC 7-2 in the 2nd half. Still, credit to GC for remaining very resilient and battling into OT.

REALLY? WOW! You know Manhasset would have won easier? Then why didn't Manhasset win "easier"?

Because they had a bad 1st quarter. I'm basing it on the fact they completed outplayed GC in the final 3 quarters. But GC is still a very strong team this year. They managed to get a late goal or two to tie it up, and sent to it to OT. Manhasset ended the game immediately on the ensuing faceoff before GC could even set it's defense.

Smithtown East 11-3 over WM, not a typo.
Connetquot over Hills 12-11 in OT.

Crazy times in Suffolk A.

At this rate we'll be going on the road for the quarters unless we can beat WM

It’s easy to write off the first quarter as a “bad quarter”, but it wasn’t flukey, GC hustled harder, played stronger defense, Manhasset took a few tough penalties, etc. Fortunately Manhasset never panicked. Being pushed like this & showing resilience will help them in the playoffs.
