Yes. It's what the media does.

That said, when you murder a half dozen people....and they're all the same gender and race, and the assailant is the ridiculously stereotypical white male....it's not exactly a claim that's out of left field.
Well, unless all the tug spots in his region are predominantly Asian staffed...it'd have to be a heck of a coincidence for all 3 spots to be so...of course, he may have had a 'thing' for Asian women, and thus turned his self loathing against hem. Equals hate crime.

Why in heaven's name should the media investigate the businesses where the victims were murdered? To see if they can find excuses for what the shooter did?

You lost me.
To determine why these businesses were targeted. Was it because they were Asian-American businesses or because they were the local massage parlors with which this nut was familiar.

Was this an ethnically based hate crime against Asian-Americans, as is being depicted, or was it murder, in which the victims were targeted because they participated in the illicit sex trade & possibly human trafficking ?
They’re all some form of Asian. You sure you’ve been around the world? Certainly haven’t spent any time in the Atlanta MSA because you’d know they’re at, at a min, vastly predominated by Asian women.

This seems like a bs line of thinking. Anything to excuse or justify. Of course it’s women shot up too, the idea that you’re suddenly worried about sex trafficking after pretty much hating on women consistently here doesn’t pass the smell test.

I’m pretty sure they are. The stretch in town is loaded with that scene except one joint. Street around the corner has some store called Tokyo Valentine and a very dark club called Onyx (Cheshire Bridge).

So the college lacrosse world hit by its second highly visible racist incident this season. Last week the University of the South (D3) was marked by an incident. The incident one week after.

They go by Sewanee these days...UVA folks got too mad about it (kidding about the second part but I’ve been corrected for calling it UoSouth probably 15x In a decade). Atlanta is also less than 2hrs to Chattanooga however making it a “local” school like Furman and a few other non Duke/Emory or state schools in this neck of the woods. Wake Forest IMO has the strangest standing, to me like a UofRochester or pick your CAA school-Carnegie, Case, Wash U, NYU, 3-6k kids undergrad except NYU, excellent but not Ivy/Stanford/Duke or even quite Vandy So there’s very few comparables to it. Davidson is tiny, Furman and Sewanee a notch below, Emory maybe close but w Duke a notch above. Closest comps may be W&L and William & Mary.

This is what kids growing up in the NE did for sport is rank colleges because there’s too damn many up there...

“Brigety previously revealed that he and his family have endured several acts of vandalism at his home since he was named to the position in February 2020.”

Nothing says “we don’t want you here” like a good old fashioned cross burning. Brigety may get the message then....

Every time people give the left grief over "making racial issues a big deal", or for pointing out that we still have major systemic racial problems in our country.......all I think of are the hundreds of stories just like this one that we hear about all the freaking time.

My major personal mistake was thinking that this stuff was largely in our rear view mirror, and that the ***hole racists were finally pushing up daisies, and the next generation would have its act together.

Nope.

What's the second event? this one was Sewanee, University of the South, student fans.... (my son's close friend is an assistant coach there now, also an alum.. an interesting conversation today...both the women's and men's teams have 'lost' scheduled games in reaction, though they had no involvement and the game was stopped as soon as it was known by the opposing coach, who told the ref and Sewanee coaches)

A simple google search indicates the advertised roster of those 3 establishments.
Doesn't sound like sex trafficking rings from media reports, families etc.

Also, a wannabe "taxi driver' doesn't kill the prostitutes.

Makes much more sense that the guy turned his twisted self-loathing on women whom he felt were temptations...coincidence that they were mostly Asian? Or was he attracted to that image of Asian women?

Yes, a 'hate' crime. Race, gender, sex. Twisted together with 'religion'.

But doesn't appear (right now) to be related to anger at Asians over the virus. But a hate crime nevertheless.

Bias by the police, Baker, on the other hand...

There are things no one here is going to buy your crocodile tears for and you’ve earned it with the “Idiosyncratic” morality and tortured abuse of language to defend the indefensible. This is the moronic post that started it all. There’s no evidence the scumbag gave one thought to human trafficking, and as I pointed out which you ignored like a doughnut with a gaping hole in the middle, the guy immediately acknowledged participating in illegal activity. Suggesting he’s some hero shooting up these places because they behave illegally and he’s some hero taking out the trash is a sign of mental deficiency.

Murder, which wouldn’t be the definition if he was saving a life in danger, is not only because they’re involved in sex trafficking. Makes no sense this is just moronic to tie the shooting to some defense of trafficked women. Just plain stupid. Every post in response or engagement started with this. Such biomass.

FFG - I am bit late to the party, been pulling away from this place a bit. Can you help me understand why there is all this talk and publicity that this was a hate crime towards Asians? THe article I saw, from the arrested 21 y/o, said it had nothing to do race/ethnicity.

Long told police that Tuesday’s attack was not racially motivated.

Because he killed nothing but Asian women. Simple. Why not white women? Or black? Or multiple ethnicities? It's not like this is some huge leap in logic, or something.

And is what the perp tells the police all that matters?

The police, DA, and Fed. officials will sort it all out, I'm sure.
