Yup. If 100% of people were vaxed, then 100% of Covid deaths (while at a very low level) would be among vaxed people.

What was I thinking yesterday by getting that booster shot? I guess I'm now doomed.

CDC data for September 2021.

2,400 deaths among vaxed people who got breaktrhough infections.

49,800 among unvaxed people that would have been prevented with a vaccination.

Honest question RRR. Are you an a-hole or just dumb?
there's probably over 20k breakthru deaths.
Data? or are back to spit balling it?

document there in first link, i don't know how to copy easily on phone. spells out infections, the hospitalizations they have records for (~50%), and deaths. did this for 4 or 5 states.

washington has a relatively mean-ish vaxx rate and case rate in 2021. unless anyone believes there's something crazy about covid vaxx deaths in the state of washington (20-25% of nation total?), they've simply tracked it. or do other states, and you'll come up with mid teens + to the ~26k washington shows.

plenty of articles on the dysfunction of state reporting on this to cdc. trump's cdc has always been a mess. probably change once biden gets in there.
So, spitballing.... ;)
Personally, I have nothing against spitballing.

Close to 400K deaths since vaccine first became available, which if we assumed your 20k had been vaccinated prior to infection and death that'd mean 380K were among unvaccinated...so maybe 19X of those from breakthroughs if your estimate is right.

Of course, as vaccinations went up, the possibility of a breakthrough at all went up, bigger pool.

But even now, we get a roughly 20X unvaccinated to vaccinated, so presumably a heck of a lot less likely when vaccinations were much lower. On the other hand...Delta.

I went to the site, https://www.doh.wa.gov/Portals/1/Docume ... Report.pdf

They say they expect to identify 70% more breakthrough infections with this methodology.

They say they identified 59,543 possible breakthrough cases; 543 died. In the same time period, about 4,200 covid deaths. So, instead of 19-20:1, it may be 8-9:1 more likely if unvaccinated than if vaccinated.

Them's good odds for getting vaccinated.

Which means half of all fatalities were wearing seat belts. Guess that proves seat belts don't work!

Apparently the details and code of the model is available for those who want to tinker.

They estimate that excess deaths per 100k pop in US is 260-300, in China -11-120, meaning that China's lockdown may conceivably have actually reduced excess deaths. Only country to possibly have had that occur.

Russia looks like the worst on this initial list, 600-620, followed by Mexico at 430-460, and Brazil at 310-350.

When you expand the list, some other awful performers appear to be Peru, Ecuador, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia etc. and some neighbors.

The wealthy European countries have done significantly better than the US, some way better. But the Eastern European countries awful.

See immediately above.

China actually looks much better than most in 'excess deaths', though very inaccurate reporting of Covid specifically.

Most of the big excess death rates were in Eastern Europe, Russia, Latin and South America.

 Pete, dude. As usual, ya got it backwards.

Bowing to political pressure, Polis removed all restrictions month ago, just like your team wants. (and for the record, I agree with the move)

We've got a whole mess of counties that are 30% vaccinated. So when mix massive numbers of unvaccinated Americans with close to zero restrictions? You get full hospitals. Just like YOU wanted.

So you don't get to complain. What you get to do is gloat: this is what you ASKED for, my man. And here we are, filling hospitals with our "freedom warriors".
