Good get. On film he looks like a pretty creative dodger with a nose for the goal. Two promising midfield additions so far in the '22s

Heard a rumor that Hopkins was finally going to play some new teams in the upcoming years. UMass, for one. is this true?

Second middie of the day per TX:
3 star junior Jameson Smith, M, Bayport-Blue Point (N.Y.) / @team91lacrosse has committed to @JHUmenslacrosse. Posting close to 50 points in 2019, Smith has come on strong as of late and becomes the 8th verbal for Smash in the past week alone. JHU’s class: https://insidelacrosse.com/recruiting/c ... ns/59/2022
Adding in McDonald and Whitaker ('21s who reclassed into '22s), the '22 class is four middies and three defensemen so far. No attack yet. I believe Smith played attack for his high school on LI but was a middie for Team 91 this summer (though also played EMO).

I think we can probably calm down about recruiting a little bit. Milliman and co. seem to be doing their thing. Worth noting Owen Murphy's brother is a highly coveted attackman in this class—assuming he's considering JHU but who knows.

16, I might have missed the post earlier but did anyone mention that 4 star Charlie Iler just committed as well to hopkins?

I did not know Iler got upgraded to 4 star.
I recall some of his play, unfortunately he would
have been a freshman and was not the featured player.
San Ramon has had several years in a row with
“4 star players” though not this freshman class,
Denver has been the recipient usually.
But I do recall Petro being one of the first
recruiting in N Cal,
Petro, Tambroni, Trevor Tierney.

The other thing I’ll mention about San Ramon,
they’ve done well with the West Coast lacrosse to
DI transition for the most part.

They had a couple D men starters on the Michael
Sowers Princeton teams, an all american middie
on the 2016 UNC title team, two starters on the
current Denver team, a starting face off man on
Warne’s 1st NCAA tournie Georgetown team.

Successful recruiting? Don't recall anyone from this area every attending Hopkins , or having an impact on the team. Whom did Petro successfully recruit that was from the Bay area ?

This is a really positive development. The talent level at the top NorCal (SRV, St Ignatious, Scared Heart Prep, etc) and SD area (Torrey Pines, La Costa Canyon, Bishop's, etc) is on par with traditional hotbeds, but Hop has not done well at all in recruiting these areas. Other than Matt Drennan (seems like forever ago) and Cooper Helfet (who spent about 10 minutes on the roster before tranferring to Duke on his way to the NFL), I can't think of any other successes. Denver owned the area for awhile, but now other schools are doing well (UNC, in particular). Would be great to be making our own inroads.

to continue the theme of "notbeds", when was the last time a US college had someone from down under on a roster ? (mens game ) What happened to Australia lacrosse?

I don't remember criticism of recruiting largely because most of us have never seen these kids in person.

I was referencing the posts that seemed concerned we were not acquiring IL 4-stars as quickly as schools like UNC, Maryland, UVA, Cuse, were. I noticed a slight air of panic forming—nothing egregious—but maybe that was just me. Anyway, the staff has apparently prioritized defense and midfield in this first round of '22s. Probably not a bad idea. That attackman from Quebec (now playing in NJ) is still out there...really hoping we land him. Going to be special.

I heard it was down to Hop and Cuse for the kid. Hop remains in its infancy recruiting Native American players so while hopeful I believe Cuse has to have the inside track. I did hear Jake Fox was coaching him at Don Bosco Prep before the world went into the dumpster so that may help the new regime land him.

Koleton Marquis. His highlights are all over YouTube and social media. Being in the NJ/NY area, I've seen him play a couple of times. Great finisher and incredibly skilled around the goal...seems like he'd be a very good fit for what Milliman and Junior want to do on offense.

flalax—point about Cuse is well taken, though who knows how much the kid cares about that. He very well may, but perhaps not.

Slick stick on video, hard to tell how that translates with the disturbing quality of defense I'm seeing in these club highlights.

The FO guy from Amador Valley, Heverly I think.

He wasn’t exactly a star in NorCal and Amador isn’t a top NorCal team but Petro did recruit one Bay Area kid. Heverly used to play attack on their man up in high school - cool versatility but didn’t really used to beat the other NorCal FO guys

“The university will announce a plan for the spring semester by Thanksgiving, with the understanding that those plans will be re-evaluated closer to the start of the semester and may require a course change if coronavirus cases surge locally or nationally. Interim planning decisions will be announced at least every other week.”

“While spring plans are in development, the leaders also announced that the university's Intersession Program, which offers academic and enrichment courses to undergraduate students during the break between the fall and spring semesters, will take place entirely online Jan. 4–22.”

If there is a season in 2021, it sounds like it would be delayed at least a month.
