Hens have one more year in CAA. Most people have them moving to Atlantic 10. It’s either there or America East I would guess. They’d make either of those conferences stronger. Next year will be rebuilding year for UD.

Some nice returning young players like freshmen Louie Atkinson, John McCurry, Ryder Buell, Tyler Owings and sophs Brendan Powers, Hank D’Ambrogi, Finn Morgan and Patrick Gillin. But for them to compete with a very young and talented Towson squad they’ll need to get Drew Lenkaitis, Jason Kolar and Riar Schell back from injuries and convince Matt Montgomery and Kevin Ellington to return for another year.

The CAA will be pretty weak next year, aside from Towson in my opinion.

I would expect a few transfers to Delaware as well. Hopefully, they sneak into the CAA tournament healthy and make some noise. Kind of a transition year I would think.
I'm way behind on this. Why will they be moving?

What is the relative attraction of those conferences?

This isn't a bad writeup, direct from the athletic department.
As always (from my POV in following Delaware), this is football driven.
So, lacrosse and I'm sure some other sports will need to find a conference association/affiliation in that sport.

Many non-mysterious reasons for this and really this is just a here nor there comment but as a CT resident, it is striking to see Fairfield, located in one of the top hotbeds in the country and sharing a campus with a school that turns out numerous high level D1 players, to not have any CT players on that list.

Bryce Ford is in the transfer portal. Hope he stays with Fairfield. It will make the conference stronger. If he goes anywhere it would not surprise me to see him at Ohio State. Seems like Fairfield has become a farm system for the Buckeyes in recent years.

More Josh Byrne, a one-in-a-million deal for the Dutch,
Byrne heard from his good friend and fellow New Westminster native Brandon Goodwin - who currently plays with the Vancouver Warriors - how great his experience was playing field lacrosse at ASA College in New York City, Byrne wasn’t going to miss an opportunity to experience the bright lights of the big city.

Byrne lived in Manhattan during his lone year playing at ASA, and it changed his life. Being in the bustling, ruthless city’s fierce, cut-throat environment transformed Byrne into a more confident, dogged player and person. He loved it. However, after a successful season at ASA in which he scored a team-high 39 goals in 10 games, Byrne was headed next door to NYC over on Long Island to play another year of junior college, now at Nassau Community College in Garden City, New York.

At NCC in 2015, Byrne took his talents to the next level. Yes, Byrne’s 39 goals at ASA were good; his 76 goals in 12 games at NCC (6.33 goals per game) were other-worldly. I should note that during Byrne’s BCJALL career from 2012-2015, he scored an average of 2.74 goals per game. This led him to DI Hofstra University, a stone’s throw down the Hempstead Turnpike from NCC. In his pair of seasons at Hofstra, Byrne tallied 111 points in 29 games, 71 of which came from goals scored.

So, let’s do some remedial math. During Byrne’s four seasons in junior college and on Long Island in DI, Byrne scored 186 goals in just 51 games, or 3.65 goals per game. Clearly, something about being in New York made Byrne a special player.
Seth Tierney---

Within the first week of having Josh in our Hofstra lacrosse practices at Shuart Stadium, maybe even the first day, all our players knew right away that this guy was going to be great.

I’d learned of Josh through an alum who was coaching nearby at the community college level. Josh was undoubtedly a D1 player but academically needed to go the junior college path his first two years.

By the time Josh joined our team as a junior in 2016, although he was still trying to figure out the speed and size and strength of the Division I game, he fit the bill of what makes a Hofstra lacrosse player. He came into Hofstra not trying to be a leader but just trying to fit in, and then he led by example.

He got in the weight room, handled his academics, and got to work on the practice field. Josh always works away at new skills before implementing them in a game, and that became his secret weapon. He developed a one-handed shot and pass and became very dangerous with them. He is very deceptive with his hands and his body language on where he’s going to throw the ball.
Josh Bryne had 4 goals and two assists in his first Hofstra game - Dutch beat eventual national champs North Carolina 10 to 5 in that game.

Hens leave after next year to the A-10.

How long do Tigers stick around ?

Fairfield's game has picked up, but every year it'll be the same - RPI gets shot to 'ell during CAA play so whoever wins the CAA will get the play-in or the #2 seed.

So when do Tigers bail for greener pastures (America East?) ?
