Huge news x2 for @jhumenslacrosse, as @CornellLacrosse AA goalie Chayse Ierlan will join the Jays as a grad student.

No. 21 senior Hunter Chauvette is also Homewood-bound after the former Yale commit had a change of heart. Lefty who shoots like O'Keefe.
So, now the Jays need somebody who feeds like Ament?

That wouldn't be a bad idea. Jon Posner built a lacrosse powerhouse out of a military school in Indiana. Now, he's working with an elite boarding school a few miles south of Princeton that counts Joe Tsai as a lax alum and major source of funding. Doesn't take a lot of imagination to see where that's going. And the fact that we seem to already have an in? Good news all around.

Hopkins is very thin in the 23 class. There are only 17 recruits coming in this fall. CC is a great pick up. Great to see brothers on same team.

Maybe 06 will shut up now? What do you all think? Unlikely, right?

Ierlan turns the goalie position from a question mark into a strength. The defense is going to be formidable.

I remember being disappointed when Chauvette chose Yale, so glad he changed his mind. If you haven't watched tape on him, you should. He really does have an incredible shooting stroke. Between him, Ayers, and Sorichetti, there are at least three likely future starters in this incoming freshman attack group.

The importance of the Lawrenceville pipeline cannot be overstated. They are the best high school program in the country and are positioned to stay that way for years to come. And no one is recruiting them better than our staff. Notre Dame has Chaminade...Hopkins now has Lawrenceville.

Well done to PM and co. for making these two moves. The Jays got better today.

They were 19-1 this year and beat Calvert Hall, Malvern, Haverford, Brunswick x2, Deerfield x2, the Hill Academy, and Salisbury. Posner's track record at Culver prior to Lawrenceville speaks for itself. I am, of course, stating my opinion, but I didn't think that needed to be said explicitly.

I said the jr midfield class was the #1 problem on the 2023 team, which it was, and that the goalie from OSU didn't have the credentials yet to be regarded "as an impact transfer". I also said some nice things.

Is chauvette better than degnon and is he the replacement there?

Where did the Lawrenceville connection start?

You said maybe about 40 times that goalie was an issue and they needed to address it. They addressed it. I guess the pivot to midfield has already begun? If 100+ pts from the midfield out of one class is "the #1 problem," then you might be pretty good.

By the way, Ierlan also apparently visited Duke and Georgetown. He was not easy to land. I doubt we'd have won that bidding war a few years ago.

As for Chauvette, he has an extremely high ceiling, but who knows. Degnon recorded back-to-back 40-goal seasons. He had the nation's longest goal-scoring streak by the end of the season. Lefty snipers don't grow on trees, but if they did they would look like Hunter Chauvette.

I was enjoying crushing a box of mini black and white cookies, then I read your post. I was on the jr midfielders lack of consistent production all year. To me it was the reason we didn't make memorial day weekend and the logjam of offensive midfielders is the top concern of mine into next year. I expect some Wally Pipp type situations of kids getting pushed next spring at that position if we are going to have more success. Collison for one needs to get consistent first line minutes like a big boy alpha dawg first line midfielder would get at an ACC or Maryland instead of going long periods on the bench so that they can run 3rd line guys.

Chris Jastrzembski @Chris_Jast "In the Lazy River of the MGM Grand but have been told that Chayse Ierlan is going to transfer to Johns Hopkins. Also, expect goalie Oran Gelinas, who transferred to Hop from Ohio State, to redshirt." I think that guy has a media vote in the poll but haven't seen that Gelinas news confirmed yet.

Interesting that the school which has armies of PR people would smartly do a classy marcille post ahead of the Ierlan news but let the PLL or NC promoter dump the cuse game news like that.

They just addressed their two biggest needs in one day. The reason they didn’t make it to Memorial Day is that they had to play the eventual NC in the QFs. The “midfield” was good last year and should be better next year. We’ll have a group of 8-9 very good/ versatile offensive-end players (the returnees + recruits like Chauvette, Sorichetti, Ayers pretty much guarantees that, barring injury), and we should have one of the better and most complete teams in the country next year.

How did Chauvette switch his commitment if he is currently a HS senior? Wouldn’t he have had to back out of his NLI to Yale that he assumedly signed in the fall of 2022v
