Curious if even mentions gold star families this evening or invites any of them.
From 2021 Afghanistan deaths.
Multiple GOP members are making a show of inviting parents who have publicly criticized Biden for those 13 deaths. Several have done so quite loudly, and it's understandable that they are bitter...though not all felt that way.

Johnson has invited 2 such who are publicly bitter.

Meanwhile...Trump...remember what he said about dead military members.

I think the only directly military related invite by Biden is an officer from the Navy who has recently been battling Houthis. Also Prime Minister of Sweden which just joined NATO...blasted Trump for saying that he would "encourage" Russia to "do whatever the hell they want" to NATO countries that are "delinquent."

Personally, I think the invitee stuff is overblown and over used. Posturing. But it is what it is.

By any chance did Joe invite any of the soldiers that survived his half ass withdrawal from Afghanistan?? Do any of you remember them?? I get it that was soooo long ago and the optics don't make Joe look very good.

Here is an idea I want to throw out. Why don't we as a nation bag the national anthem at sporting events. Then we can bag the idiotic SotU address. That is a win/win all day long. The SotU address is nothing more than a useless if not self serving dog and pony show. At the end of the day no American will miss the national anthem and no American will ever miss the SotU address. :D

I personally like the Anthem at sporting events, and regret the total wildass overreaction to Kap's knee.

The SOTU was once a brief letter delivered to Congress that someone probably -- can't promise -- read. Wasteful theatre.

Funny how Biden is still getting blamed for adhering to tRump's withdrawal time table. One the latter negotiated with the Taliban while Afghanistan was still under the Ghani puppet regime.

Shaming and scolding the SCOTUS to their face on national TV was not a good look.

I'm all fired up now. Let's go fight Putin. The Swedes & Finns are now on our side.

Rah Rah . Let's toast NATO. The mightiest military alliance that's never fought a war.

Right. We JUST started sending money, arms, and training to those **holes when Biden arrived. Hint: Charlie Wilson and Reagan.

And by "vacuum", you mean "we got our troops the F out of there because American military families were sick of their kids arriving home in pine boxes for no freaking reason whatsoever".

   You say that like you think this doesn't mean that the alliance performed flawlessly for 70+ years, and counting.

How's the Soviet Union doing, Old Salt? Do I need to explain to you how alliances work?

Sorry, all you sauerbraten eaters. Biden hit it out of the park tonight. Those Americans who watched to see, "old sleepy joe, the dotard" were greatly disappointed tonight. Tonight he was "Joe the populist happy warrior" fighting for the working man. He helped himself greatly with the independents and democrats that were concerned with him being too old.

Also sorry, but the voters don't care about Afghanistan, it is over, minimal casualties under Biden.

As I said -- the mightiest alliance that never fought a war. We won by just being there.
I was one of the >340k US forces there when The Wall came down. The parades & toasts were awesome.
Great parties at the Spanish & Brits officers mess. Sure, tell me all about how alliances work.

Maybe perhaps NATO should have asserted their prowess in Ukraine? After all the only good Russian is a dead Russian. Have you ever seen the original All Quiet on the Western Front.? The people doing the fighting and dying don't give a chit about politics. In a brief moment of peace you hear a bird singing and then a sniper shoots you dead. That moment makes me cry. It doesn't matter if your your a Russian soldier or a Ukrainian soldier. All you want is to go home to your family.. I use to read those Sgt Rock comic books as a kid. There was always a notation at the end of each story... Make war no more. That's never going to happen. What is the point of the sacrifices of so many of our soldiers. They gave their lives so nobody else would have to fight again. We desecrate the sacrifice as to why they gave their lives in the first place. We have learned nothing.

I misremembered the scene... it was a butterfly and not a bird.

Katie Britt was panned by pretty much everyone. The most striking reviews came from republican lawmakers, conservative NGOs and political consultants. Everyone seems to think the republiCON base found it just right. Not so much never Trumpers and independents let alone democrats.

Republicans torch their own SOTU rebuttal. Bobby Jindal move over.

Everyone was ready for Biden to show he’s too old when what we saw was Britt being too young.

On the positive side for Republicans they can now point to her involvement in the border bill negotiations as a reason for not supporting it.

I agree, Joe did a really good job last night, as a whole.

See.....you just like to argue. ;) And no one disagrees about leaving ...only you would make that strawman argument, it was the process by which, and we already beat that horse in to a gallon of glue.
