WHat's his mood on the state of the program?
We spoke briefly. He has his doubts on whether there will even be a 2021 season.

Oh, IIRC, he said B1G football drives the money for all sports, and without that source of income, he doubts minor spring sports will happen.

Then he made a disparaging comment about morons in the SEC.

We had to make it brief - we were creating a bit of a traffic hazard and I didn’t want him to get run over.

Good stuff. Thanks for the report.

From Steve Holroyd:

@On May 22, 1948, @jhumenslacrosse pipped @TerpsMLax, 10-8, to retain the intercollegiate lacrosse championship.

Here is some really dynamic footage from the match.

Vintage @NCAALAX action at its finest.”

Would love that but at this point I'd be a bit surprised. I know he grew up a huge Hopkins fan but have heard rumblings he may be destined for one of the ACCs or, god forbid, Maryland.

There's a 5-star Canadian middie from Culver (though just followed Posner and transferred to Lawrenceville in NJ) who plays for the club team Grant Jr. co-founded (Evolve Elite). That'd be cool. IL compared him to Zach Currier as a do-it-all midfielder.

In any event, "notable" sounds fun.

You're probably right.

And PS - while they've always been decent (see Hubler, Matt), Lawrenceville is going to become quite the lacrosse program over the next couple years. Lawrenceville is in a great location for Lax, really nice facilities and campus, has top-notch academics and college placement and is generally known as the one of the best prep schools from a social standpoint. And they now have the coach/program builder in Posner. If Posner can turn a military school in Indiana into a juggernaut, I can only imagine what he'll do at Lawrenceville.

Grew up 20 minutes away, can confirm Lawrenceville is a great place to go to school (applied, didn't get in). I think NJ lacrosse in general is pretty underrated. Hoping Milliman is able to open up the Delbarton pipeline. He recruited top attack recruits from there to Cornell in consecutive years (Long and Kirst).

BTW—hearing the Duke commit is a FOGO (not Spallina...at least not yet). Don't know who ours is.

Correct on the Duke commit. Via TX twitter (and continuing the NJ lax theme):

Four-star junior Luke Engelke, FO/M, Pingry (N.J.) / @LeadingEDGEHS has committed to @DukeMLAX. A tall athletic lefty, Engelke routinely goes forward & racks up points off the fast break. Notes on the Devils’ first true ‘22 verbal: https://insidelacrosse.com/recruiting/profile/71663

xanders has about 5 words he uses to describe kids. Crafty, athletic, gritty, blue collar. Big vocab there. because of transfers out and decommits, milliman should be working with more scholarship $ than almost any coach.

In my class at Hopkins felt like there were 25 kids from lawrenceville, Hopkins admi$$ion$$$ must've loved recruiting the kid$$$$$ there.

Perhaps try the sidewalk next time instead of the intersection

That would be awesome, but I am not sure if he has/is onboard with Hopkins or with Petro. I believe he is tight with the Petro twins.

While we wait on the recruiting news (heard it is definitely not Sunderland, so temper expectations), apparently one of the top middies in D3 the last few years, Michael McCormick from Gettysburg, is getting his master's at JHU. Not sure if he's on the lacrosse team. Obviously not on the roster right now and haven't heard anything about it. Was a two-time AA and had 137 pts in 3.5 seasons out of the midfield for the Bullets.

Temper, no way. This is the Hopkins thread. So let me be the first to announce (speculate really) Milliman landed Spallina

Might be a Canadian-- Edge lacrosse twitter reposted Xander's. Matt Collison would be a big get--literally and figuratively.

Any info on the kid? I follow a fair amount of the Canadian programs but I don’t know him at all. Attack or mid? Lefty or righty.
