maybe israel will give a readout prior to sept 20. like in 3 plus weeks.
Perhaps not an official readout but take a look

https://www.thedailybeast.com/ultra-vac ... to-america
careful, kismet. i've been trying to throw some data out on israel and waning and it wasn't received well. what, you think 2 doses are useless?

israel has played a large part in our policies since july, for those that aren't aware. their timeline has informed us and we're using it. what we won't see (in 3 weeks) as alluded to in the article, is intermediate to long term effects for safety. nowhere near even what we did at trials. didn't just one vaxx regimen get full approval yesterday after a year+?

i'm also dubious that with just several weeks of data on younger, healthier cohorts... that we'll see much in the way anything other than antibody jumps for boosters. maybe some on hospitalizations, but unlikely in a country the size of israel much in deaths as it'll be way underpowered. as will hospitalizations for anything but the very short term, and even then. there'll be bigger infection numbers, and we'll assume benefits from there.

but we're going to pass out 100s of millions of doses maybe.

meantime, i'm assuming someone is using this mrna platform to tweak those vaxxes for better to handle variants. what if they're ready in 3 mos? and everyone just got boosted?

strange times. take it. whadaya got to lose?
Looks like a 6 month waning, (boosters then?) and you gotta keep wearing those masks and doing at least some social distancing.

I agree, hope they figure out some tweaks to boosters, but I'm thinking get the booster as soon as allowed, get another when allowed...but don't just think, 'hey, I got vaccinated 6 months ago, so I'm all good, no need to wear a mask..."

UVA has already suspended a few dozen students before school starts due to lack of vaccination.

UVA disenrolls students.

:D I don't get your # references, but, yes, we're of a 'certain age' wgdsr... ;)

Military now mandated...I think we're going to soon see it across many public employee sectors (why not?) as well as most large corporations. And with this, it'll get easier and easier for more and more businesses to require it for access.

My wife and I (5 months since 2nd Moderna shot) are scheduled to go to convention in Vegas end of September, they've announced a vaccine mandate plus masks (we may still bag out, but it's reassuring that they're at least trying)...I'd really like to see it across the board in all public transportation situations, airlines, etc. Not going to completely eliminate risks but would help screen out the crazies who don't give a darn about everyone else.

Yup, and we'll see similarly small #'s of refuseniks at other schools...but smaller and smaller #'s I think. It's quite possible that even among many of the 49 registered it wasn't so much a refusal as not paying attention to details, getting their paperwork in, etc.

But that means lots and lots of students getting vaccinated.

if they are calling this a health care premium what's preventing Delta employees from opting out of the health insurance and using a spouses insurance or ACA? Seems this is to protect Delta's bottom line.

Delta Air Lines will charge employees on the company health plan $200 a month if they fail to get vaccinated against COVID-19, a policy the airline's top executive says is necessary because the average hospital stay for the virus costs the airline $40,000.

Yep its all about the money. What of the spouses and dependents, is Delta going to require them to get vaccinated? after all they are also on the health plan.

Thanks.

It’s a cluster. Hoboken having outdoor festivals requiring vaccine cards. Met life no masks no vax mandates for giants and jests games. What I don’t like is DC, states and cities strongly suggesting businesses implement and enforce vax mandates. Is your status going to have to be updated every 8-12 months with a booster? I won’t ever use a third party app to verify any private or confidential health records, no QR code’s for me. And yes tracking where you’ve been with a QR code is a problem.

I think the much better policy would be for Delta to just shirt can any mouth breather employee that won't take the shot.

It really is pretty simple. You're just doing the lame parade of horribles smoke blowing. It is just dumb to ever let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Bars still card people even though some kids have fake IDs. It still works pretty well.

Sure some mouth-breathers will pay $250 to get a fake vax card. But many will just get the free shot instead. Or they can just stay home and watch Fox News. Which is fine with me.

I mean it isn't like I would really miss any of the mouth-breather dumb asses if they were eliminated from the places I get into with my vax card.
