How does Cuomos model indicate that 80% of us are going to get the virus?
That’s if nothing is done.

Nations like China, Italy, and South Korea have taken actions that are unprecedented in modern history to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

You’re like the guy who notes the lack of measles and then asks why we need everyone vaccinated.

He said 40-80% which is indeed the model if not choked off.
Gotta choke it off, right?

But if don't, the virus keeps spreading. At a geometric rate.

Vaccinations are bad. I heard it from Jenny McCarthy so I know it’s true.

I'm asking a reasonable question. You don't have to resort to insults.

A billion people worldwide are sheltering in place and Cuomos is still quoting 80%.

Peter Brown wrote: Mon Mar 23, 2020 11:10 am Why was testing delayed in the United States, versus say South Korea?

This is an incredibly interesting article on how the FDA bungled things as only bureaucracies can. The US and SoKo got their first detected cases on the same date, 1-21. Our FDA inserted itself into the process by demanding an 'Emergency Use Authorization" (EAU) letter from the FDA for any lab that wished to test for Covid-19. Labs that had begun to test instead had to shut down, waiting for the letter; the United States has 260,000 laboratory entities.

Between 1-21 and 2-29, only one EAU letter was issued, to the CDC lab. Everything was pinned on one lab, whose protocol proceeded to fail. Of course. On March 16, finally, the FDA sped up the process by removing itself from the process, by providing an EAU exemption to any lab that sought it, essentially giving power of this process to the states.

Guess who ordered that ruling? Libs here won't be happy, but it rhymes with drump.

The CDC estimates that there have been 20,000 to 40,000 deaths in the United States so far this year.

That's a thousand times more deaths in the United States than have been blamed on the coronavirus so far.
The global death rate for the virus is 3%. If 100,000,000 get the disease, that’s 3,000,000; at 1% the total would be 1,000,000. That’s the difference. You think the country should go back to business as usual.

Are you actually serious PB?
Of course bureaucracies slow stuff down.
and this was an epic fail for sure.
But of leadership not just bureaucracy.

Do you imagine that SK doesn't have bureaucracy?

March 15?!
why don't you ask the question as to why Trump didn't order it opened up sooner?
did he ask about it?

when was the last time he said the virus wasn't a serious issue or even worse, that "we just have 15 cases and it's soon going to zero"?

Being excited that a Republican Senator has the virus, is despicable but par for the course for you. Shows Democrats true colors. They are hateful and vile people who root for the demise of this country’s economy because “Orange Man Bad”. Democrats and the media are giddy over the virus and what it’s doing to our economy. It’s sickening. But then again, is anyone surprised by their behavior? Nope!

Three good reads that give some perspective on where we could/should be heading in the coming weeks and months. Pretty hopeful.

TL/DR:

1. The hard social distancing is needed and justified.

2. But only for a few weeks. It can't be justified or sustained (morally, medically, economically) for months.

3. After a few weeks, the effective and sustainable measure is for most of us to return to mostly normal life.

4. Which is mandatory, not optional. Because studies show that being unemployed and poor is really really bad for everyone's health.

I feel pretty confident, Larry would act as a shipping clerk, or a rest room attendant if the job needed it. Same for Ben Jealous. Same for Martin O'Malley. Same for Bob Ehrlich.

Silicon Valley technologist Aaron Ginn published a post Saturday laying out research from various organizations suggesting that the “community-based spread and airborne transmission” of coronavirus, or COVID-19, is “not a threat.”

Apologies if someone already posted this:

https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/03 ... s-pandemic

Q: What about the travel restrictions? Trump keeps saying that the travel ban for China, which began 2 February, had a big impact [on slowing the spread of the virus to the United States] and that he wishes China would have told us 3 to 4 months earlier and that they were “very secretive.” [China did not immediately reveal the discovery of a new coronavirus in late December 2019, but by 10 January, Chinese researchers made the sequence of the virus public.] It just doesn't comport with facts.

A: I know, but what do you want me to do? I mean, seriously Jon, let’s get real, what do you want me to do?

....

Q: You have not said China virus. [Trump frequently calls the cause of the spreading illness known as coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) a “China virus” or a “Chinese virus.”]

A: Ever.

Q: And you never will, will you?

A: No.

Q: At Friday’s press conference, you put your hands over your face when Trump referred to the “deep State Department,” [a popular conspiracy theory]. It’s even become an internet meme. Have you been criticized for what you did?

A: No comment.
