Disease spreads and Americans die thanks to the stupidity of mindless America haters from the radical far right:

The covid variant will soon slow down the economy. Watch as the right wingers then blame Democrats and Biden for that.

DeSantis is getting hammered by the Florida press, north, south, east and west for his COVID response. 20% of all new cases are coming out of Florida. Faces the voters in less than 18 months.

Only checking in here at Fanlax on occasion.

JHU72: your post is beyond what we call wishful thinking. Disregarding all of it, Desantis will beat either Fried or Crist by 10 points, minimum. Those two are very weak candidates.

Ron is universally liked in Florida for keeping the economy going and not bending the knee to the Covid hysteria mob. If you lived here, you’d also know he’s well liked by the environmentalists who matter such as the Everglades Foundation.

That was true in March and May polling, not so sure now...and not so sure he will be 3 months from now. Things felt pretty good as the pandemic receded, but he then doubled down and it may well bite him hard as Delta ramps up. He's fortunate, really, that Florida had a lot of folks who did get vaccinated as soon as they could...but the folks who didn't are mostly his base supporters...and that could well turn ugly for them.

He could have played the rhetoric differently these past few months, not pandering to the hard right, and he'd be in solid political shape, but he doubled down. It's going to be very hard for him politically if Delta bites hard.

You're right about the environmentalists; he's been relatively good on that front.

But, hey, there's a whole thread that you started on this guy...best to talk about him, specifically, there?

you think stuff's weird here (or in fla, alabama) the uk, laughs at that notion:

- infections going to trip 50k per day (240k u.s. equivalent)

- 60% of hospitalizations are unvaccinated. course, that means 40% are vaccinated? granted, this with a huge portion of the adult population at least vaccinated:
https://www.reuters.com/business/health ... 021-07-19/
https://www.bbc.com/news/health-55274833
but delta slipping by some/a lot of the vaxx? hopefully, the variants don't keep getting "better", but they seem to be for now.

- well over 90%? of all age kids will have to wait on the vaxx until more data is in:
https://www.deseret.com/coronavirus/202 ... cine-teens

- with all this, many to most to all covid restrictions were lifted monday.

... I suspect a lot of the states that have opened up are going to be rethinking their decisions.

I find it very interesting that Fox News got religion over the weekend. Seeing lots of segments telling people to get vaccinated. Doubt it is care for their audience, more likely their lawyers do see a big potential liability.

this has been the case all throughout in many locations. if not by state decree, than by advisories local and national.

and things die down, people loosen up. things start getting dicey, fear or at least caution takes hold. getting a run on delta was and is probably what's needed to get vaxx rates moving again. 'merica.

Wonder if Team Biden has stockpiled n95 and surgical masks....along with plans for temporary hospitals. Maybe he'll just copy what Trump did....then we can all say Biden did it differently, b/c he didnt tweet about it.

Reminds me of idiots driving in rush hour traffic: zoom 'til they brake hard... with nowhere to go.

Tends to wear out your vehicle and waste a lot of energy. In this case it is going to exhaust the population and overwhelm its tenuous mental state.

we have plenty, if they stay in business. number of companies stepped up in 2020. i thought at one point early on they were debating sending out "masks" to everyone.
looked into atvthe time what n95s were available if that ever became a thought. maybe we'll do n95s someday if tld hasn't hoarded them all and some companies are still making them. dpa!!!

Guess anti-vaxers are not team players and don't understand ideas like community and shared risk. Free-dumb!!!

Seems pretty forking straight-forward. Too bad we have to share the lifeboat with these bright bulbs.

"The more transmission, the more variants will emerge with the potential to be even more dangerous than the Delta variant that is causing such devastation now," Ghebreyesus said on Wednesday. "And the more variants, the higher the likelihood that one of them will evade vaccines and take us all back to square one (or worse, my edit)."
