Trying to answer too many posts above I’ll just post one.
The Democratic Party needs to be put down and salted in the earth. It is incompatible with America. You guys will nominate Bernie Sanders soon (watch), which will be the predictable exegesis of a party who has always flirted if not outright made out with socialism.
The recent histrionics over (name the issue du jour) abortion, global warming, impeachment, transsexual rights, sexism, Kavanaugh, Stephen Miller, Army cadet hand signals, Covington Catholic phony videos, whatever, is emblematic of a Party which is no longer representative of what is good about our country.
I have operations in several red and several blue states. The difference in optimism, freedom, and vitality could not be any more stark. Our red state customers are vibrant, and our blue state customers are defeated.
Trump isn’t Caesar’s wife, that’s for sure. But he was elected as a bulwark against the blue state policies hollowing out those societies. He will beat Bernie like Reagan took out Dukakis.
Yup, the Dems are so evil and dangerous that Trump "will beat Bernie like Reagan took out Dukakis."
Never mind that Bush defeated Dukakis.
The better analogue might by Nixon and McGovern in '72.
Pretty sure the Dems recovered from that defeat.
I'm an R who wants to see Trumpism ignominiously defeated such that we can indeed get back to conservative principles without the hate and fear and bigotry. Else it's very clear that the GOP is going to be an increasingly minority party for a generation or two.
You're on the wrong side of history here, MDLax. You're infanticized by Trump's woeful character, losing sight of what's actually occurring underneath the showroom floor. The Democratic Party has fast become what America has stood against all these many years. David Brooks called you out the other day:
The anti-Trump echo chamber is becoming a mirror image of Trump himself — overwrought, uncalibrated and incapable of having an intelligent conversation about any complex policy problem
Trump is a clown to you, and we get that. But your hatred of him causes you to lose focus on what's real and what's a show. The Democratic Party must be permanently exiled to a forgotten piece of history, much of the media too. Bernie will be your torch bearer soon; the only way he will energize his base is not by swinging back to the center, but rather by going as far out on the curve as he can, as he wants to.
You will be rooting for socialism because
orange man bad. Meanwhile our country has never been more prosperous in every respect. But
Orange Man Bad...you may wish to take a walk and clear your head.
PB, you're way off the rails, but you're at least consistently so.
Bernie will never be
my "torch bearer", though I'd vote for a piece of wood over Trump.
I have no interest in Bernie Sanders....but I would vote for a hub cap if it opposes Trump.

Come on TLD. You can vote for that hubcap but just opposing Trump will not win your side the election. The Democrats need vision and guidance and as per your own post, all you care about is beating Trump. How do you Democrats do that with no plan at all? Mutual hatred of Trump is not a plan. It us a roadmap to defeat in 2020. It is stunning to be that you Democrats are so blinded by hatred you all are going to hand your nemesis 4 more years. Cradle is exactly correct. Some here claim they would vote for a “hubcap” or a “piece of wood”, which isn’t a bad choice in a binary election I suppose as neither would do much proactive harm.
What these posters don’t admit is they prefer socialism to Trump. That will be your choice. The Democrats have gone all in. I like Biden but he’s about to get crushed as the caucus goers and primary voters coalesce around Bernie. It’s happening now.
Trump, for all his warts, has given you good conservative jurists and he has done everything right regarding the economy. So far as international moves, I’d grade him a B so far.
But let’s try socialism because that seems to work really well around the world!

My apologies, if your willing to vote for a hubcap over Trump it is obvious to me you have picked a side in the political fracas. I understand it may mean you don't like the side you have chosen, but you have chosen none the less. I have no problem with that. My problem with the Democrat party is they have nothing to offer to the American besides emphasizing the fact that they hate Trump. Any of you can correct me if I am wrong but that is not a plan for America. Unless somewhere along the way hatred has become a viable option for running the country. Then the Democrats are on to something.

A hallmark of today’s Democrat is the complete inability to debate ideas that are considered antithetical to their philosophy. I don’t even know who Spencer is, but TLD’s response to the post is a great reflection of the crisis afflicting the Democrats.

Exactly but yet again exactly opposite what your takeaway is.
I am far more interested in ideas and much less in people. TDS’ reply is an immediate pivot to the person rather than the idea.
TLD’s reply seems to imply an immediate disregard of anything this ‘Spencer’ has to offer. This is what we call “cancel culture”. It’s an insidious devaluation of the human and all of the complexity of same.
TDS is a similar construct.

"we call"
You choose to be ignorant, you choose to ignore other's points and questions.
Got it.
Your posts are a clear reminder why you were susceptible to TDS. And I’ll stray from my self-imposed rule to focus only on the idea and not the person (not you per se but those like you).
I have generally found that TDS manifests itself most glaringly in people who are most often adding personal insults to those who refuse to go along with the echo chamber. If I were a psychologist, this would be an area I’d study. It’s fascinating. If you go through the posts on this board, you’d find that the people quick to lob personal insults (such as ‘ignorant’ in the post above) are loudly anti-Trump. I’m not sure if the cause and effect are interchangeable, perhaps Trump’s character compels this behavior?, but yet there it is, always.
My characterization of you as ‘always being incorrect’ could also be perceived as an insult and I regret that. My real point is you do seem to be unable to see beyond the lens of Trump on almost every issue, causing you to miss the basket nearly every post.

A hallmark of today’s Democrat is the complete inability to debate ideas that are considered antithetical to their philosophy. I don’t even know who Spencer is, but TLD’s response to the post is a great reflection of the crisis afflicting the Democrats.
Exactly...you don't even know who Spencer is.
Exactly but yet again exactly opposite what your takeaway is.

Renegades and iconoclasts are often correct. I don’t know him nor his positions, but my beliefs on global warming are that the book is not finished, so hear out those who disagree; they could be correct in the end.

Swedes Vote Climate Policy Biggest Waste of Tax Payer Money in 2019
In 2014, the Swedish national government spent 5.2 billion Swedish krona (£419 million/$547 million), a number that has more than doubled to 12.6 billion krona (£1 billion/$1.3 billion) for the planned 2020 budget.
“The government has more than doubled the appropriations for climate policy, but despite this, emissions no longer decrease. In 2018, emissions even increased. That is why climate policy has been voted the worst waste of the year,” Johan Gustafsson, Waste Ombudsman at the Taxpayers’ Association, said....
....The wasteful spending poll results come as many Swedish municipal governments face financial hardship or even bankruptcy due to a lack of money to support recently arrived migrants who have largely remained out of the labour force.
An estimated 90 per cent of migrants who came to the country during the height of the 2015 migrant crisis and received permanent residency are unemployed.
Almost sounds like the US on the latter part when sanctuary cities/counties are running a budget deficit supporting illegals.

What have you read much about Roy Spencer? “Could be correct”. You could lose all your money in the stock market next year too. That COULD happen.
