I've already suggested that we are all just the equivalent of of cells running thorough the veins of earth. It's why we are all connected, require the same air, water and food to survive. Kinda like a Tron world or Magic School Bus world.
A spec of dust would be a better analogy for us. Microorganisms on a spec of dust is closer to reality and that may not be insignificant enough.
