Exxon found innocent of climate related charges today here.
Climate change is going to be a hoot as Antarctica, Greenland, Iceland and Artic Circle continue to melt away and then release pathogens that have been frozen in ice for centuries that will help sort out world over population problems before AI and medicine can figure out how to stop the ancient strains.
Yep. The earth will take care of it. Could be a plague like problem.
or maybe, JUST maybe......cures for disease can also be found. Geezbuss, so glass half empty

What do you think about cloning and the nature of a person?
Cloning, only in as much as it helps those "in need"...far too many ethics concerns for me to really be able to broad brush support it.
Nature of a person?..Not certain what exactly you mean by that. My immediate reply would be that I believe God created us all and we are each perfect in His image. When He calls us Home, things only get better. Tying it into the cloning question, I can see benefits in helping quality of life as I stated earlier...but as selfish as we are, it will eventually just get abused and used for the wrong purposes.

Dartmouth scientist states that the equivalent of 2,000 elephants, of ice, is falling into the ocean per second and releasing carbon into the atmosphere.

Your "science" ? One of my homes is twice as old as your data set.
What data would convince you?
Also, what does your house's age have to do with the data set? We went from being grounded to landing on the moon in 6 decades. I guess all that science and data wasn't valid since there are houses older than the airplane.
glad you mentioned that going to the moon and data.....IS it missing? In other words, why is NASA saying it will take years to re-calc, verify, quad check...the data. Or, did I get THAT wrong too.....
As far as I can find you got that wrong too. Where exactly did you get it from, I'd love to see it? You also didn't address the issue surrounding the age of the data.
We know how to get to the moon. Us and the world have continued to send dozens of probes to and around the moon since we've landed.
Astronauts explain why nobody has visited the moon in more than 45 years — and the reasons are depressing
It's 2019. Why Haven't Humans Gone Back to the Moon Since the Apollo Missions?
"If it wasn't for the political risk, we would be on the moon right now," Bridenstine said. "In fact, we would probably be on Mars."

You have to read about Bridenstine's comments, particularly about moving the timeline up ......in articles, Congressional testimony, etc. Could have been when 2028 was the target date
(Heylow, Con$tellation program anyone ? Perhaps, the data delay was about the sustainable program, but not sure how moon landing data has to doe with the lack of temperature data from the Ohio river valley on Dec. 11th, 666 AD.

Been to Marina Bay many times before, just never knew what lay in the reeds ...
https://www.google.com/maps/@42.3009338 ... 656!8i3328
Pretty historic airfield. Going back to Amelia Earhart days. What I noticed, walking the pups who LOVE hunting coyotes....was the seawall, shown in the above picture. Took plenty of pics and videos myself, but it appears that this seawall dates back to being installed, most likely, before ALL of our lives. (just checked, the place closed in 1953, labeled abandoned airport in 1960. So, these seawalls have been in place since when? )
My point, I was there at HIGH tide, at 10.1 feet. The highest the water level got was 4 feet to the bottom of the concrete top. So add another foot. Sea levels rizing? What was the measurement in 1940, similar date with similar tide ? (or whenever the wall was built ) Also, keep in mind, that I consider frost heaves as a potential to keep this wall at a certain height above the muck it was pile driven into. Lots of clay. Could have build an R-50 wall with that clay.

Holmes, thought all this was obvious, not really in question why we didn't go back. Better question is why did we cancel schedule flights? The answer is the same. Americans only went to the moon for the "USA USA USA …. moment". It had nothing to do with man's quest for his destiny, scientific knowledge, etc. It was a military exercise. No real Russian challenge, no funding.
We now have a real serious challenge from the Chinese, so back we go. Just another military exercise, although this time I expect we will lose and it will cost a lot more. A hockey team is a lot less expensive to compete with and the "USA USA USA …. moment" is as big.

The only thing wrong with the manned space program was it was done for the wrong reason. PERIOD. The results, the knowledge gained is of great value. It was a seminal event along with the creation of ARPA / DARPA in the technical and economic growth of this country. The model for funding scientific research in this country, whether you (or others) like it or not, is the story of this country's success and domination of the world markets in the post war period. PERIOD.
