Game day! Let’s go. Have to start fast and step on their head from the beginning. Gave offs and goalie play should be a plus for us. Would love to get the Offense going and really dominate this game. Gettysburg has guys who can play and we are going to have to be sharp on defense.

Yes, both play a defense oriented game. My prediction is another low scoring affair, though I’m hoping that I see the growth which I feel has been happening in York’s offense.

Gettysburg has a stout D, and if York can look strong on offense against them, I will be more confident going forward.

York up 7-6 half way through the third. The stats pretty even down the line too. G’burg slid early and often and it was effective in the first half. Looks like coach Childs solved that problem.

Wow. 8-8 with 6 left. Neighbor comes by and I step out for a few minutes- come back to 14-9 G’burg with 2 min left. Ouch. Wish I would’ve seen what caused a 6 goal flurry like that.

Edit- I guess that was a score display “malfunction”
9-8 York Final.

I believe that would be student athletics communication employees. 9-8 York final, they incorrectly adjusted the Bullets score when trying to fix the clock.

Perhaps one of those accidentally on purpose issues.

Nice win York. Gettysburg looked strong.

That was as good a college lacrosse game as you will see. York made a few more plays Gburg had difficulty clearing at times a few self induced turnovers. Gettysburg's defense was stout and York worked for everything they got. Gettysburg's offense looked predictable and stagnant in the second half but in my opinion not a lot of daylight between these two teams today. Only shot for Gettysburg is to grab the CC AQ.

Good game York fought a lot of odds in this win. Road game, senior day, Gettysburg undefeated at home, there was a lot of juice there for the Bullets on Saturday and they used it to establish a solid lead. They did a couple of really nice things as they won face offs early. They took away what York likes to do on offense and they put the defense in positions that they were not used to. But in the second half the defense turned up the heat, the offense changed their game plan and Vinny adjust his exit on the faceoffs. They have to remain focused for the next week and take care of business in these last three games

Yea. Gettysburg came to play. They started off strong on faceoffs and defensively. York’s adjustments to counter both were the difference coming into the second half. Credit to a great coaching staff for that.

Looking forward, Stevenson will be hungry. The Spartans better be prepared from the first faceoff.
But first Messiah and Widener….

Just looking at the roster trend for York. Went back to 2018
2018 7 attack 20 middies 27 total offensive
2019 8 attack 19 middies. 27 total o
2020 7 attack 20 middies. 27 total o
2021. 11 attack 17 middies 28 total o
2022. 12 attack 14 middies 26 total o

2023 projected.
1 gr and 3 seniors probably leaving at attack
2 gr and 3 seniors probably leaving at middie

4 attack and 3 middies coming in with new class

2023 12 attack 12 middies Total 24 on O

Big shift to more attack.
We see Mayer starting as a freshman and I heard someone say Towsend (red shirt) was even better than Mayer. Wonder why child’s is stacking with more attack when middies numbers keep declining.

The freshman Townsend is playing, scored 2 goals tonight matter of fact (18-1 on the season). I believe Burbank is the dynamic freshman who is redshirting. Lots of talented underclassmen on the roster.

I wouldn’t get too caught up in positions, the team is cycling players to and from attack and midfield and has been for years. The letter next to their name on the roster means nothing. Wilhelm, Clark, Ranck, Reynolds and more; all listed at attack, all spending varying amounts of time at midfield. (I haven’t seen Reynolds at attack yet, 100% midfield)

Having that flexibility with players who can effectively play both up top and down low has allowed them to find ideal matchups on a game by game basis.

Yea, Burbank is the attackman that is redshirting and I think he is good and would have seen time if he was available. Townsend is a good inside finisher. Childs plays with a lot of position flexibility on his offense so many of the kids that are coming in next year are offensive players who will likely switch to midfield or be used at midfield. I could see Clark moving back to midfield next year and Shields sliding over from SSDM to offensive middie. This is the way many teams build their roster as they take extra Attackmen and then keep the elite ones at attack and move the other to midfield and then do the same with the middies and what you get are very good middie playing SSDM and that group becomes very dangerous. I think the 2021 class (current freshmen) is good and balanced, very good at attack and defense, good at midfield and excellent specialists. If you watch the film of the incoming kids you see a lot of offensive talent and good size speed. These two classes should help to offset the losses after this year.

Seems like he is ready and easing in. Got a few minutes yesterday and registered a shot.

Rumor is that even if York wins on Wednesday Stevenson is still going to host the MAC tourney. Can someone verify if this is true. I was under the impression, maybe falsely, that the tournament was hosted at the site of the top seed and regular season conference champion. York would still have to work. A game against a team hungry for some revenge for last years shut out loss.

Highlights of the great conference win over Stevenson.

I like that the media team is now embedding the highlights up on the page with the write up & box score. I think it’s a nice touch.
