Lars stated that some of his short sticks were planning to return but weren’t on the roster in the Fall. Virginia could use an alpha at midfield(possibly gonna be Schutz) and a couple more short stick defenders….. Virginia looks loaded elsewhere……
I was talking about the talent at the goalie position but I agree that there are some good looking newcomers at other positions too, as well as some veterans who looked like they upped their game.

Rumor...
Interesting question.

There certainly has been a lot of speculation wrt Rode. Neither he nor Lars have made any kind definitive statement about his status.

The talent is there to reload at goalie - but it is hard to replicate having championship weekend experience between the pipes. With that said, I am a big fan of Nunes, and think he has the potential to leave Charlottesville as one of the best goalies in program history. His style of play is a perfect fit for the way Lars and his staff like to play - fast breaks should be a thing of beauty.
STILL somewhere back in the day....

A good option if healthy......He was hurt last year and didn't play in the Fall. Is he expected to return 100% this Spring?

Cryptic response....... Do you know anything about Bienkowski's likely availability this Spring? Is this wild speculation or you just don't believe he can be an alpha middie?

My fault. :) I just know that PA has Bienkowski on his Fantasy team and he wants to see him putting up points...

Undeniably. I remember PA grabbed because I wanted him. As did a fantasy coach a couple of years ago who was (closely) related to him. Great pick up for PA Talk... until he got injured. We'll see. I'll be surprised if he doesn't have his moment in the sun.

So IL has elevated Griffin Schutz to be their new #1 incoming recruit after Fall Ball. Apparently, he really impressed in all the scrimmages, including, showing he belonged against Team USA. Initially, he might be, at best, the 4th option on offense, so a good situation to get his feet wet. It is a very impressive article for a 1st year. Let's hope he comes close to meeting their expectations.

I don’t know who was #1 before but you need to remember IL only saw about 13 school this fall.

Some Dookie. They’ll be fine with their 6 top 10 kids in 2023.

Concur on that and IL articles are designed for click bait so taken with a grain of salt. I am more interested in the comments from his coaches and teammates from Fallball in the article. It is unusual for them to be gushing about a 1st year, in pre season, with several returning AAs on the roster. Barring key injuries and With a little luck, I know Lars feels good about his team’s chances this year for Memorial Day weekend.

Comments/Excerpts from Lars recent letter to alumni and supporters:

"We had a strong Fall semester off the field: “issues” were kept to a minimum and we earned a 3.35 team GPA. The efforts with Special Olympics and the Will Barrow Memorial Flag Football tournament were fruitful, including a final tally of $51,800 raised to support the UVA Hotline and Harlem Lacrosse. Our team’s outreach was recognized by the USILA at our December convention, as we were awarded the Sticks and Service Award. All of this credit goes to our men, especially Paul Rodriguez ’22, and Brian Wilberger.

On the field we challenged ourselves against the best: our Alumni, Team Canada, Team USA, Lehigh and Penn State. What I learned is that we have more depth than any other team I have been a part of. The marquee names on our roster were on the sidelines for some of our better lacrosse. I am a fortunate coach to have so many talented, driven men making sound decisions and driving this “bus” in the right direction, and at full speed! "
