I wonder if these transfer portals would be less used if a player had to sit out, and this silly early recruiting was not utilized in the recent past. It is hard to believe that parents were allowing 14-year olds to talk to these college coaches. Nutty.

1st Team All-Big East defenseman Nick Grill (@MarquetteMLAX / Bridgewater-Raritan, NJ) has entered the NCAA's transfer portal, according to a source. The 5-foot-7 cover man started every game in his first three years, picking up 2nd Team All-BE honors in 2017 and 2018.
This is why student athletes should pick the school first, coach second. There are no guarantees the coach will be there for all 4 years.
To be fair.. everything Amplo did/said sounded like he was sticking around. Not really black & white

I wasn't being critical of Coach Amplo. Just making the point that nothing is certain and players need to evaluate the school outside of lacrosse and how they fit.

Chase Scanlan has informed the @LoyolaMLAX staff that he plans to enter the NCAA’s transfer portal, according to a source. IL’s No. 9 recruit racked up 43G/15A as a freshman, earning 2nd team USILA All-America honors.

That is news. He is a good player.

Yikes.

My guess is Cuse and Albany will be the favorites to land him.

My exact thoughts. I'd be shocked if he wasn't doing this to move closer to home. Time will tell.

The Scanlon brothers(?).
Six Nations Arrows.
A certain Albany player is on that team.

Right now Shay better worry about finding assistant coaches and not about some additional player. Not to mention why would he switch to a program when he has no idea who his coach will be?

While I think it's too early to speculate where Scanlan will land it is worthy to note that he played for Iroquois last summer in Israel with Tehoka and Marr was coaching as well. Also, Lars Tiffany was an assistant coach.

Scanlan and Tehoka are also teammates this summer playing Jr. A with the Six Nations arrows.

With that said, Cuse and Albany do seem to make the most sense of any other.

Also worth noting that Scanlan was originally a Syracuse commit before switching to Loyola. Combine that with the the fact that the Orange now have a gaping hole at attack after losing Solomon and Voight and it makes a lot of sense, IMO. Would love to be wrong!

I know it’s a huge stretch, but if he’s heading home how about St. Bonaventure? Mearns’ first big coup? It sure would help put them on the map. Better than anyone Mearns ever had at Canisius.
