I was promised girl-in-girl tongue kissing - where was it???Brooklyn wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 10:43 pm Yeah we know their values such as public drunkeness, girl-on-girl tongue kissing, advocating abstinence but having children out of wedlock, domestic violence - that's some legacy to be proud of.

this is the problem - particularly in the US. The rampant consumerism, that our media and political leaders promote because it is "good for the economy" is a rat wheel we can't get off.DMac wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2019 8:31 amThink you've got to define scraping by and eeking out. I think the folks in Norway, for example, are living fairly comfortable and happy lives.
I saw a show quite a number of years back about this subject. Can't remember the country but it was a doctor and his wife being interviewed. When it came to money (eek out/scraping by) his response was, look around you at how we live (was a very nice place he/they had). I remember him saying, sure, in the US we might have a bigger house (all about the image, ya know), two Mercedes and a Denali in the drive way rather than just one BMW, but we're pretty happy with what we've got. Paraphrasing there, but that's pretty much what he said.

Study after study prove that "happiness" is relative. and that the more that your neighbors have, the more you need to be "happy".
That 5,000 sf house, and the two Mercedes plus a Range Rover in the driveway (for 2) is benefiting the folks selling you stuff, not you.....
You were? Didn't ya know, Palin's moral majority folks took those pics out of the internets in order to try to sanitize the clan's image. But it couldn't get all the bad news out of the spotlight:
Why do we even bother having thread titles ? What the heck does Palin have to do with AOC?Brooklyn wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 11:43 amYou were? Oh, this should be great.
Hey Bandito: give me two examples of capitalism in America, and two examples of socialism in America.
Not things that are proposed---examples that are in place and operational.
Should be entertaining to see what you think the words socialism and capitalism means.

Been saying that for years. No one will listen. Least of all guys like 6ftstick who thinks that he, and he alone, gets to decide what the word Socialism means.youthathletics wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 7:43 pm So that means by definition, that we are already a Socio-Capitalistic Democracy.
