The media they sure do have Andy's back on this one. King Andy is not responsible for these deaths in NYS nursing homes... New York is responsible. That does not make sense because a lot of folks here have blamed dump for the death of 400 thousand people. Should they not be blaming the United States for the failure if that is the logic being used by some folks in the press? I got it... that's different.

There is much better logic in blaming the former president for a large portion of the deaths in the US, because there was an OBVIOUS lack of federal coordination, intervention, and support. There are plenty of other countries that fared better than the US with more effective governmental action.

At one time, the US had built a better mechanism for response to a pandemic but Trump and his cronies actually dismantled it. And some of the continued deaths that are upcoming will be attributable to this basic abdication of responsibility, as the basis of an effective response has to be built almost from scratch.

In addition to not acting correctly to combat the pandemic, Trump and his cronies politicized all sorts of effective measure, and followed goose chases to find a miracle cure in such a way to make a vast portion of his followers to question everything about the actual science/medicine. That continues to make it very difficult to put back together an effective response.

Ridiculous. Both sides politicized Covid. When will you start to see things more honestly? My guess... never.

And stop covering for Biden and his cronies. They wanted power, it's all now their's to fix.

50 states all with different needs and priorities on what their needs are. You think the federal government could grab the bull by the horns and take full responsibility for eradicating the virus? Your talking classic Monday morning quarterbacking. We all know on Monday what our team SHOULD have done on Sunday. I'm just wondering with complete control of handling Covid how the federal government adjusts to the varying needs of 50 different states? That is 50 governors screaming they need this and they need that. They don't need this and they don't want that? I don't see the government having the flexibility to ever be able to do that. Maybe one size fits all but I don't see how that works in this case. It is always easier to figure out where you went wrong on Monday morning. Hell, it is going on a year now and many Americans still have not learned their lessons yet.

+1 it sounds like some ground work is being laid just in case Bidens people drop the ball on Covid. Dump screwed it up so bad they could not fix it with cool, level headed people and good science.

jnj supposedly asking for eua this week. their more in depth trial numbers, how quickly fda may authorize (if they do), and how those #s play with the public and are offered by the media will be key. as will what's actually happening on production there. maybe a big april?

novavax was a pleasant early surprise. albeit not meeting our trial minimums set forth. will those minimums be worked around to get an eua earlier? there also was some trepidation on what results would be given sanofi's production fubar and then some other delivery systems not necessarily being awesome (not everything working as well as mrna).

azn looks like a mess in europe so even with good results, we better have u.s. production or that may be by the boards.

all in all, a good week. with zero contributions from new vaxxes, we should be able potentially to administer 2 million per day if no breakdowns in production and lagging states keep figuring out their distribution and continue trendline on getting better in feb. hopefully they get there or close in the next week or 2.

at least one of the 2 mrnas (can't remember which) have spoken publicly recently that they'll get to their contracted amount by end of q1. that would mean potentially 75 million doses (or more if both can increase) in march.

hopefully, government and medical research can keep ramping.

edit to add: moderna was the one who confirmed q1 production.
https://investors.modernatx.com/news-re ... ply-update
so they were probably around 6-8 mill in dec. maybe another 25 million in jan. and an average of 35 million in feb and march. i'm less confident in pfizer at the moment. they were out of the gate 1st and already lag mrna. made big production cuts prior to start. advances in production seem to be coming out of europe and in particular biontech. they're probably close to "owing" us 40 million per month the next 2 months after doing maybe 25 in a month and a half plus the lead up.

The storm is going to create a major interference with administration over the next couple of days. Hopefully the powers that be will be able to find a way to smooth this out.

You mean that one “side” said yikes this has the potential to be a huge health and economic crisis if we don’t act in a coordinated, aggressive way driven by the federal government?

And the other “side” called that a Democrat, media Fake News “hoax”?

what are they doing shaking hands! no masks, no social distancing. no sanitizer, no washing hands. indoors and not in a big box. we can all learn from this.

I can’t remember was Outbreak the Michael Crichton book (movie?). I liked Dark Waters but it got a bit long..... One of the DuPont kids went to summer camp with some of my college teammates. They got him drunk and got him a tattoo....he also fell over and knocked his front teeth out.....I worked in Cincinnati during that era. The law firm scene where the junior guy was smacked down was vintage....so accurate.
