So you concede the point that all Trump did to keep the economy going was borrow trillions. Well, that's progress, i guess.

As for AOC? Oh, that's obviously easy: all she has to do is tell guys like you she's a Republican.....and then you won't care how much she spends, or what she spends it on. Aren't those little R's super neat-o??

Fake problem solved. But your fiscal concern that magically popped up the millisecond a R isn't in the White House is just......touching.

in flight school did they have slide rules for Republicans, and different ones for Democrats?

Question: how much thrust is needed to get this airplane airborne?

Old Salt's answer: well gee, it depends on if the pilot is a Republican or not. Because the math of aerodynamics is different for Republicans, dontcha know?!

Yup. St. Louis Cardinals fan whose team stole the ‘64 pennant from the Phillies.
They way the fans of Philly treated Dick Allen was probably worth a lot more distress than that....

That was Jim Bunning and another pitcher (Short?) won 20 that year right?

Dick Allen is my favorite player before my time. Read Crash when I was early double digit age.
They loved Allen when he came to StL as a Cardinal, & he reciprocated.

Yup, Bunning and Short, Bunning and Short. And, yes, blame goes to Gene Mauch who seemed to start them every other day during the collapse.

Bunning pitched a perfect game at Shea Stadium on Father's Day. Johnny Callison (my favorite player) hit a three run homer to win the All Star game. Richie Allen, as he was then known, won Rookie of the Year.

But then Chico Ruiz stole home with one out and one strike to Frank Robinson. FRANK ROBINSON!

6 1/2 games up with 12 to play.

Still a painful memory.

The team has its own wiki page.

In Philly, we thought Allen had a good chance of getting voted into the Hall this year by the oldtimers' committee or whatever it is called. But they didn't hold the meeting in person this year (in December, I think) because of Covid. Then they decided not to have it via Zoom because it would prevent in person discussion. Ugh. And now Allen has passed away. Sad.

Now your rant is that all economic growth & job creation is due to deficit spending ? Right.
Tell you what, since you're mocking everything I say...

Trump signed four...and only four..... major economic bills-----three. That's it.

Three were spending bills, every penny of it borrowed.

The other was the famed TrumpTaxCuts.

So the floor is yours, my man....... if these four bills aren't why the economy continued its upward trajectory under Trump?

What did? What did Trump do outside of borrow $3Trillion, and cut taxes for corporations with a tiny carrot of a tax break for some of America's top 50% earners.

Go ahead and tell me. Cite the legislation. Floor's all yours, my man....

And there it is. If Trump does it, you're on me for being negative. If someone with a little D by their name does it? Oh, that's Marxism.

Odd, I don't recall you whining about Trump's flat out billions in cash to farmers, comrade. What's the matter? Did you "forget" to complain when that happened? Price fixing, and .gov market interventions are fine with you, so long as a Republican does it.

You have become such a complete Stereotype of the Republican voter. You just tole the Marxists how to do it: you and your voters will accept ANYTHING, so long as it comes from a registered Republican. It's sad to watch...

Not to mention all the under-funded state pension systems & CA's bullet train to nowhere ?
I bet you are the only person that mentions reparations on this board. I may do a search

I actually listened to Al's radio show on occasions. Franken is a very smart guy. His problem is his personality. He was suppose to be the FLP answer to Limbaugh. The FLP folks were too stupid then and are too stupid today to understand why the concept failed so miserably. The FLP minions spent 30 years trying to find an on air answer to Limbaugh. They failed in doing so for 30 years. You would think after 30 years of failure the FLP could have figured out why. They never did and never came close to understanding why. That is stunning given the fact that the FLP folks claim to be the smartest people on planet earth. Some HS educated radio disc jockey kicked their ass into the dirt for 30 years. Even after the guy croaks they still don't know how he did it. The magician goes to his grave never having revealed how he pulled off his magic trick.

... the difference in "entertainment preferences" between these two groups are huge. Has nothing to do with not being able to figure out Limbaugh's formula - HIS FORMULA DOES NOT WORK on liberal audiences. Now Bill Maher has been very successful, over 25 years, the closest thing to Limbaugh's success but on TV with a standup comic and serious guests. Not the same formula at all.

You also might ask why Keith Obermann was let go at MSNBC and can't get a network gig doing political commentary after a successful stint at ESPN. He is probably the most direct comparison to Limbaugh on the left side. Very similar FORMULA to Limbaugh, that has failed. A superior flamer to Limbaugh, quicker wit than Limbaugh but liberals for the most part don't respond to him in great numbers (personally I find him very funny, but recognize a lot of it as just spin, made funny).

The issue isn't stupidity or naivete. The issue is that the liberal audience is very different than the conservative audience.

Franken's a douche. Never thought he was funny except two bits, Stuart Smalley and his tiny role in Trading Places messing with the guy in the gorilla suit and faciiliting some reverse beastiality. I give him credit for doing the consistent, honorable thing and stepping down over that goofy picture which is more than many can say who've tried to hang on and maea culpa, whattabout them, their way out of their problem.

I can't speak for Democrats but I don't think they put a ton of stock in his national abilities overall. Perhaps hoped his SNL/public persona could provide some bump to their party, but can't recall anyone ever thinking "this guy is going to one day lead the DNC or be president". Not really sure why the comparison keeps being made. Rush is rush, Franken is Franken. Rush did Rush stuff, Franken did Franken stuff. Why can't we look at each individually

Simple answer. There were folks on the Democrat side that seriously thought Franken was their Limbaugh. Limbaugh eviscerated Democrats. The hope was Franken would do the same to Republicans. It did not work out the way they thought it would. You nailed it. The reason was that Franken was a douche from day one.

I don't think there was an audience on the left and moderate left for all-in hate and anger at others based on their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, etc. Just not resonant. The closest you can get with a durable audience is some of the 'black radio' talk shows, the Al Sharpton style stuff...but that's a relatively small audience.
