Couldn't find an official 6A - Region D bracket, but here's what I was able to piece together based on the 1st round games from last week.

1st Round:
Langley (L1)  - Bye
Madison (C1)  - Bye
G. Marshall (N?)  -  Bye (???)

Yorktown (L2) def. Chantilly (C5)
Wash-Lib (L3) def. Westfield (C4)
Herndon (L6) def. Wakefield (N?)
Oakton (C2) def. McLean (L5)
Centreville (C3) def. South-Lakes (L4)

2nd Round on 6/15:
Yorktown @ Oakton
Wash-Lib  @ Madison
??? @ Langley
??? @ G. Marshall

Semis 6/16
Finals 6/18

Not sure if G. Marshall bye is correct, and I can't figure out the other 2nd round match-ups. Assume that Langley and Madison are on opposite sides of the bracket.  Yorktown @ Oakton should be the best game of 2nd round.

Pretty hot at The Pat for both the home squad & the visiting Eagles of Edison. Cavs started the future & it was fairly even for about 5 minutes. Cavs got a goal from a frosh & a sophmore before the Seniors came on to help get it to 7-0. The Eagles sunk a FPS & WTW got one more to make it 8-1 at the half. The Clock Ran at 19:17 after Cavs got 3 more in 90 seconds. It ended 18-2 with Cavs assisting on half the goals & 4 FPS. I think 32 played for the Cavs including 3 Goalies. I did see Coach West who is assisting with the Eagles & they have some young talent. It reminded me back when he & then Coach Chen prowled the sidelines & you were in for a struggle vice a walk-over when you faced the Bruins.

WestPo and WTW played a classic yesterday afternoon. The first half featured strong defense and goalkeeper play, and appeared to be headed to a 1-1 tie at the break, but both teams got late goals to send it to intermission 2-2. Those late goals were a harbinger of things to come in the 2nd half, as the scoring started early and often, with Wolverine Sr Middie #11 Eby was not wanting to end her career and racked up a quick hat trick to give WestPo a multiple goal lead, that stretched to 3 at 7-4 and had the Cavs pull starting GK Gross for the backup Sine to make adjustments. But the Cavs weren't done, Gross adjusted and returned, and they quickly made it 7-7 midway through the half. It was 8-8 under 10 minutes, when Woodson got one to up 9-8. It looked as if the Wolverines had tied it 9-9 with 7 mins left, but the goal was waved off and the Cavs were able to add another one a couple of mins later to make it 10-8. WTW had a chance to run out the clock with the ball in the final minutes, but an ill-advised shot and subsequent save, gave the Wolverines hope with 2 mins to go. However a rushed shot and an offensive yellow-card, effectively ended the game as Coach Lewis was not going to let his girls do that again and they ran out the clock for the 10-8 win.

In other regional scores:

Falls Church (H) 21- Lake Braddock 12
Robinson (H) 20 - South County 8

Sounds like a good game and closer than I expected. It's too bad the Warhawks prize is a date with Langley. I would have liked to see Oakton vs Madison round III.

Region D seeding doesn't seem very fair. GM who finished 3rd in the weaker National district gets a bye over 2nd place teams in Concord/Liberty. Now there's a real imbalance in the two sides of the bracket. But at least that will be fixed with re-alignment next year.

Back to Back games for Cavs but thankfully it was cooler & less humid then 3:30 Monday. It was a defensive slugfest in the first half that had two yellow cards for the Cavs. The Cavs scored first in the second but it went back and forth until #11 for West Po looked rested & went off to get the 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th for a natural West Po sombrero (a hattrick plus one!) I thought WTW might fold it up for the season at 7-4 with 17 minutes left. They dug in as it got rough on a clear a Wolve just clattered into a Cav & it could (should) have been a YC as both girls knocked out of game. Cavs kept the ball & made it 5-7. Next possession Cavs again at 15 minutes to get it to 6-7. A Wolverine just ran-over a Cav frosh on the crease & the ensuing clear knots the game at 7 all. Cavs continue to come back to get up 8-7 with 12 & a half left on the clock. With 9 minutes left there is a huge colision on the Cav crease that knocks both girls out of the game. WP keeps the ball & #11 assist to #4 ties it all at 8. On ensuing draw Cavs win & get it to big Senior #18 who buries one for the lead 9-8. #11 shoots to tie it again but her follow through is deemed dangerous & she gets a YC & the goal disallowed. Cavs get it under 4 minutes before scoring the dagger after the sides are all even. That is how it ends 10-8. Not sure how West Po lost to Annandale as they are well coached & they came to play.

2019 had Liberty 1 / Concord 2 and Concord 1 / Liberty 2 in Region D secord round. Very easy argument to make those were worth of 6A State Quarter/Semifinal match ups. Yorktown had an easier route to qualify for States as the L3 drawing and dominating Patriot and Marshall who finished higher in much weaker conferences. Seeing is weird but eventually the cream rises to the top.
