Posting from CT and echoing someone above, UCONN's lack of (varsity) lax is probably the most glaring in the country. It is the flagship school in a hotbed state, a small state that has 5 D1 programs and at least 8 D3 schools. They would be immediately very competitive pulling kids from CT publics (not just Fairfield County, the in-state cost would look very good to parents), WEST-1 and Mass. The problem is as you would expect Title IX. They have a women's program. It is possible someone with the financial skin in the game to pull some strings is going to help but we will see, it is truly ridiculous that they do not.

The reason to ADD a mlax team is plain & simple: $$$ + Graduation Rate.

MOST lacrosse playing individuals are prepared for college with a college fund, great grades for academic scholarships + grants, & lacrosse is still a major leader in large roster sports for graduation rates. Athletic graduation rates carry a lot of weight across all sports when recruits are considering a college or university.

Every single D3 college in the country that does NOT have a football team SHOULD be adding both mlax + wlax as soon as possible.

The most logical conference wide addition at the D1 level should be the SEC. Every one of the schools has a soccer facility. The cost of adding a coaching staff, locker rooms, equipment, & scholarships is EASILY covered by the +$45M coming to each school from the SEC/ESPN deal, EVERY YEAR. You can only dole out the 12.6 scholarships so PLENTY of out of state kids will be footing the out-of-state tuition to attend a big time conference with BIG TIME athletic support. Have you seen the upgrades to LSU, TAMU, Ms St, Georgia, Florida, & Tennessee lately...? The SEC "arms race" is absurdly amazing. You start putting top tier student-athletes in the SEC & increasing the graduation rates, just watch what will happen for those schools. Not to mention, there's only so many times the SECN can replay football games & Finebaum is on for 2 hours too long everyday. Throw some lacrosse games on to mix in with baseball & you've got fresh programming for years & years.

Title IX needs to be updated. It is a mess and the main reason why lax isn't growing at Power Five schools

University of St Thomas (St Paul, MN) - Division III

It has one of the top MCLA clubs and can easily meet any Title IX criteria because of its great danceline team. Heck, considering the size of the school (it is actually bigger than Notre Dame) and endowment (about half a billion) it can add gymnastics, synchro, and rugby 7s.

At one time UST had a good wrestling team but they decided to drop the sport in favor of a $100+ million sports complex. Lax is growing in popularity here in Lake Wobegone and a varsity team would be a good fit on campus.

Title IX is likely what is stopping many of the SEC schools. I mean Vandy and UF have strong wlax programs. LSU has just added a nationally ranked Beach Vball team and TA&M has women's equestrian team... I think UF, GA, and TA&M would be first due to underlying strength of HS lax in their state with no current D1Team. LSU might be able to sustain one with overflow from TX / GA kids along with a couple in state kids. SEC would do it for SEC Network reasons only to fill programming slots. Would love to see these teams play their games at soccer stadium along with a game after spring football game vs rival imagine lax "Between the hedges" or in the "Swamp" or "Death Valley". I also think these schools could recruit nationally with their existing brands.
