I'd say that playing at home is a bit of an advantage, indoors or outside. PSU's next two games are away, including a visit to New Haven to play Yale; this should give us a better idea of PSU's true potential.

First two games are part of the "revenge tour". Lot's of offense, defense not really tested. Both are very good. PSU has some depth this year which helps, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. PSU was 12-0 a couple of years ago and flamed out against a bigger, tougher Towson team. Yale will be the first test. Then Cornell. But the real deal is the B1G and if they can win the conference. This team is being asked to do a number of things it has not done in the past, beat Maryland and win the conference. Win a NCAA playoff game. Expectations of the final four are out there but as with many teams, there is a LOT of work to be done. Loads of fun these first couple of weeks, but there is a long way to go. Strengths for PSU are obvious at attack, O mids, face-off, goalie and close D. Weakness right now is the D-mids. If they figure that out and keep focused(harder said than done), the roll will continue.

Also, fun to watch #7 play. He will be a difference maker as a freshman.

BW: These things are always in the eye of the beholder! I do not see the D mids as a weakness at all. I love those guys--19 and 21. Both really fast and tough guys. Now, there may not be much depth there, but I think those two can play. Would love them on any team with which I was affiliated. Frankly, I have not seen many (any?) weaknesses in Happy Valley yet this year. Team has the potential to be special. Go Nittany Lions!

Eager to watch Tom Wright.IMHO, he's one of the most complete D-men in the country. And he's fully recovered and hungry to get back.

I was just thinking about him a couple of days ago. I am hoping he stays healthy for the year. A terrific talent.

Tommy adds a dimension to the defense at PSU that they were missing last year. Aggressive on the wing and secure in settled situations. With him back in the mix, others now are back in their spots. Fox does not have to handle all the LSM work like last year. It allows Cardille to drop back to close and compete there. Forcing competition at close once Aronow returns from injury. They now have 4-5 experienced players at close. Amazing what one player does for the depth of a team. Better than all that, he's a great kid.

Completely agree...especially your last sentence.

Proud of the team for staying in the fight. A couple notes regarding the X.
#40 will bounce back strong. Great kid with a strong work ethic!
#30 the second guy according to coach: only 1 attempt then benched? You need a couple to figure the rythem. What would they have to lose by trying. They were getting slaughtered at the X anyway.
Maybe the LSM should have stayed behind TD to take away the back side exit rather line up to take away fast break. I believe there was only one fast break all game.

Coach, coaching the X who has never faced off? You have got to be kidding me!

After hearing the “beasts comments” about the different styles and heads used, they absolutely need a new FO coach!

Also the zone D was a bad decision vs the 1-4-1 set up.

State pulls it out at the end.
Final two goals for 15-14 W.

Kyle Gallagher went head to head with Arceri at the face off — pretty even there.

Penn State flat from the get go. Lucky to win. Penn played well and appears to be a solid team. PSU needs to step it up to win on Friday.

I guess this is what the lacrosse gods were looking for.
Penn State with 43 goals in three days.
Grant Ament continues to tear it up, 8 assists today after getting 9 assists against Cornell.

Did you ever wonder?

Why doesn't Penn State Lacrosse copy the ugly Penn State football helmets?

Michigan and Ohio State Lacrosse teams copy their ugly football helmets.

Penn State hockey copies the ugly helmets.

It's just the lacrosse team.

Jeff Tambroni never...ever...does ugly. Except the last 20 seconds of regulation in the 2009 national championship game

The other big turnaround for PSU is Arceri at face off.
67% over the past three games.
State gets a tune up against Cleveland State
before hitting the grind of Big Ten.
About as good as you could have hope for
coming into this season.
No one knew how well Ament would do
coming off missing the entire last season.

This weekend went about as well as anyone could expect. Offensive firepower was on full display. Areas for concern, goalie had zero saves late into the first half, seemed like every time JU had the ball, they scored. Dmids continue to put pressure on the rest of the D as they keep getting beat and then the quick slides start up.

There was a lot to be positive about this weekend but a really good offense may be masking some short comings! Great venue, terrible weather, field was actually worse on Sunday than in the rain Friday, but overall held up well with the rain. Hopefully they do it again but with a better streaming partner or maybe real TV coverage!
