I just read that Lacrosse will be a part of the 2028 Olympics. I don't see any other country being in the same league as Canada and the USA.
With the sixes rules package don't sleep on the Iroquois. Earthshaking if they win a gold medal.
I wouldn't discount them ever. Any idea how they would be represented in the Olympics? They are not a country per se in the traditional sense.

LA28, the committee organizing the Games, said in a statement that “we intend to find creative solutions that honor the sport’s heritage and allow participation for Haudenosaunee athletes, while respecting the Olympic Games framework established by the I.O.C.”
Likely means somebody paying something to the IOC in return for making an exemption on eligibility.

It will also bee instructive to see how much actual support USA and Canada really provide in the end because it may not be in their best interests competitively to let the Indians in with the favorable rules package of sixes. As we all know, talk is cheap.

IOC says if the pay to join the IOC they're in. Ka-ching
I would like to see that happen. The Iroquois represent what Lacrosse is all about.

The mens Water polo team had their fannies handed to them by the Italian team. I thought water polo was a sport we excelled in? The womens team played outstanding yesterday.
The French lady conquered the rest of the field in the mountain bike race. She won by well over 3 minutes and she is hell on wheels while riding a mountain bike. That was one brutal course to ride.
Women's Water Polo yes. For some reason, US Men's team is not as dominant.
Joe
They sure looked like they didn't belong in the water with the Italian team. They were totally outclassed in ever way.
In Europe men's water polo is a serious sport. There are even European championships....

I always thought water polo was a game primarily played by students at more elite universities.

I had friends at UCLA who were on the Water Polo team. It seems playing defense is basically trying to drown your opponent. This seems more drastic than whacking him with a stick, ya know?
I also tried one of their 'exercises'. You fill a bog ol' Sparkletts water bottle with pool water, then drag it to the deep end and tread water while holding it over your head until it drains. Water Polo guys do a few of these to warm up before practices. I did it once and almost drowned.
That is one TOUGH game!

Blood In the Water [1956]:

The full movie could be seen in youtube at one time but not so anymore. The movie illustrates why the sport is so popular in East Europe. It was one of the greatest documentaries I ever watched.

Stephen Nedoroscik was given a number of nicknames on his long and dizzying journey to Olympic success in Paris this summer. The 25-year-old sealed a first Olympic medal in 16 years for the US men's gymnastics team with his pommel horse routine during Monday's final. Nedoroscik has become an internet sensation, with fans branding him 'pommel horse guy' and even likening the glasses-wearing gymnast to Clark Kent.

Kudos to NBC for its extensive coverage of men's gymnastics. Japan won the team and individual medals. A great series of performances by all. My hope is that this will lead to a resurrection of boys & mens gymnastics in high schools and colleges. Like mens volleyball which is currently enjoying a tremendous resurgence on campus, I sincerely believe we can and will see a similar resurgence for mens gymnastics in popularity like we had in the old days.
One thing that stood out for me was the prevalence of the color pink all over the mens venue. The platforms, floor mats, pommel horse, parallel bars, many seats, signage on scoreboards & Olympic Rings on the wall with Olympic 2024 lettering all in pink. A couple of athletes wore pink shoes & socks and many of the male photographers had name tags with strap fasteners that were of pink color. I'm not sure why this color was chosen or who made the choices. But, you gotta admit it's different.
