banditgetspucksdeep wrote: Wed Jan 10, 2024 12:09 pm Good morning Gentlemen and ladies(D3 hero) I am glad to be on board for this new season. I would like to start out with a bang and drop my predictions for the conference this year:

1) Catholic: I have constantly read about the slander of the Catholic lacrosse team and decided to put it to an end. They have a firing offense led by Victor Rosado and a young middie group who can shoot the ball from anywhere. I don't think we hear enough about their defense though they are returning everyone except Pezone and easily have the biggest 3 defensemen in all of the Landmark. In most Landmark games it will come down to the middle of the field and Catholic has a solid group led by junior Liam O'Neill.

2) Scranton: The former champs gotta be here, cant put em anywhere else. The loss of Chris Crapazano is what puts em below Catholic I know Pierce is coming back but we all know one defenseman cannot save an entire defense. They play hard and like catholic have a solid group in the middle of the field that makes them one of the teams to beat but we'll see if they have any electricity left after last years run. Personally don't think Boyle will be able to challenge Catholic or ETowns defenses much this year and guys like O'Neill and Baldwin of Etown.

3) ETown: I don't know what they will do without having the ball more than half the game, loss of Griffen sets Etown back to the 2021 season. They've got some good talent up and down the field but think the guys in Elizabethtown have been doing too much cow tipping and too little hitting the wall. Riley Langen is and has been a solid player but time will tell if at his old age he can still keep up with the young bucks of the landmark.

4) Susquehanna: They got Lorrence and couldn't tell ya what else is goin for em. I agree with tighty, I also aint a doctor but those boys need more than whole milk they need some raw milk, red meat, and some football lifts to get em back in the real running for a landmark champhionship. I also aint a fortune teller but would love to see the Susqy boys go on a run this year.

5) Goucher: Can't believe anyone would rank Lycoming or Wilkes above the boys from Baltimore. The rumblings of transfers and things looking up has been what Goucher and the rest of Landmark want to see for these guys.

6) Moravian: I do not know what Landmark lacrosse you watch but Moravian is down there with Juniata, just can't get myself to put any new comers above this top 6. The boys in Bethlehem could use a couple rocky speeches and some football lifts to move up the rankings.

7) Lycoming: WHO? Couldn't tell you a thing about these guys except that they played a bunch of nobodies.
8) Wilkes: Like I said up there...... WHO ARE YOU?

9) Drew: Wilke is gone and hes the only person who can save the Madison guys. Another small team who needs more protein and less hangin out.

10) Juniata: These guys look like bobbleheads on the field and don't have enough subs to run 6v6 we'll see how long this schools lacrosse program stays alive.....Maybe they should have a meeting with their volleyball team and see what they have to say.

They gotta get rid of some teams to make ranking easier and quicker. Excited to join the boys for this season, hopefully we can remain civil......... @d3hero......
Catholic may be good at the end of the year but the will struggle at the beginning of it as the seemed to struggle this fall. Scranton lost probably their best overall player but are recruiting pretty well and have a solid coach. Can’t wail for them to get started.

Scranton is taking it all, back to back baby like Jordan. Heard some things about Crapanzano, and all I can say is, I agree. Crapanzano brought back the electric city, yeah I said it, you can basically call him the second coming of Micheal Scott. I mean talk about a dawg. However, theres some new royals in town, Dean Hiltsley and Thomas Popolizio, these New York boys mean business. Anyways I heard the fall was a little tough for the boys in purple and white... to much time hanging out in the mean streets of Downtown Scranton. Upwards and Onwards for this crew, the preseason should shake the dust of these boys after a long Christmas Break and they will be ready to rock and roll for conference play!

It’s hard to see them going backwards. Goalie play will hurt them for sure, but they will be better in front of the cage and be able to contribute more offensively from what I saw in their scrimmage this fall vs Howard CC. They did lose their #2 scorer but return everything else basically including ECAC D3 ROY Jacob Morgan and looked a little deeper. I’ve heard rumblings of them grabbing a few other mid year transfers, will have to wait and see when the roster goes up. But I’m rooting for the boys in Baltimore, hoping Hannan can get them back in the mix.
One mid-year transfer, one returning player that wasn't there in Fall. I was told their roster size is about 27.
Goucher will have 27 on the roster. Seven lost to graduation (six who were starters) and two players not returning.

Five transfers. Seven incoming freshmen.

Elizabethtown has an excellent chance to compete for the Landmark title in 2024. The Blue Jays return the bulk of their team which gave Scranton all they could handle before dropping a 13-12 decision in the championship final last year.

Except for Ben O'Connor (2nd-team all-conference attack with 63 goals and 7 assists in 2023) and middie Colin Cummings (20 G, 16 A), the entire offensive unit returns. This includes 1st-team all-conference attack and co-Offensive Player of the Year Riley Langen (37 G, 67 A), along with 1st-team middie Alex Kilgour, both back for additional seasons. Prolific scorers returning at attack include Gavin Gismondi, coming back from injuries last year, Colin Kondracki, who poured in 37 goals to go along with 10 assists in 2023 and Ryan Flanegan.

Kilgour, with 39 goals and 14 assists last year, will be joined at middie by Joey Kilpatrick (12 G, 14 A), Lucca Scomollio (8 G, 6 A) and quite probably some newcomers.

On defense, Elizabethtown will have to replace 2nd-team all-conference Jason Nazaremus at LSM. But the entire defensive unit, led by 1st-team all-conference Gio Raso, Lucas Kohler, Joel Maragoto and Jack Gress, returns with a ton of game expereince behind them. Also back for another year is 1st-team all-conference SSDM Connor Stewart, who is a threat to score along with being a disrupter on defense. TJ Chapman looks to step up and fill the large shoes of Defensive Player of the Year and Jacob Griffin, who dominated at X last year. Griffin was an All-America Honorable Mention All-American in 2023, as was Riley Langen, giving Elizabethtown some national recognition.

Brayden Franey is back in goal, starting for the third straight season. He has been an all-conference selection for two years in a row and the combination of his skills and the experience of the defensive unit in front of him should make it very challenging for any team to put up goals against the Blue Jays.

Coach Kyle McGuire enters his 4th year as head coach with a 17-3 regular season record in the Landmark and three straight years as the runner-up in the championship game. The Blue Jays return 28 players, have 3 transfers (2 middies and a defenseman) and bring in 12 freshmen.
All-in-all, the outlook for the 2024 season is very promising for Elizabethtown and many are saying that this is the year they take their first Landmark title since the third of their three-peat in 2019.

Susquehanna returns virtually their entire high-powered offense from last year along with a veteran defensive unit and they could be a dangerous team in the 2024 chase for the Landmark championship. Coach Stewart Moan is an experienced leader and motivator for the River Hawks and certainly will be able to get the best out of this team as they try to move to the next level in the Landmark hierarchy.

First-team all-conference attack Brennan Lorrence, Chris Ciccarello, Matthew Faggioli and Connor Aitken return as an attack unit that produced 130 goals last season. Second-team all-conference middie Kieran Thomas, Jack Gaillard and Steven Musser return as a midfield that netted a total of 57 goals and 50 assists in 2023. This offensive group accounted for 78% of the goals scored last season so the offensive outlook is very bright for the upcoming season.

Experience on the defensive side will be a plus for the River Hawks in 2024. Second-team all-conference defenseman Aidan Kennedy, who led the team with 24 caused turnovers, leads a unit that includes returning starter Marc Manfredonia. Returning for an additional year is first-team all-conference LSM Ted Zaborowski, who gathered up 57 groundballs and caused 19 turnovers, along with scoring 7 goals in 2023.

Also returning for an additional year is goalie Jozef Korpics who has been the principal keeper for the past two years with a .545 save percentage in 32 games after transferring from Utica College. He has an experienced back-up in junior Augie Granatelli, who has appeared in 15 games with a .583 save percentage over the past two years.

A big hole to fill will be the graduation of face-off specialist Ryan Prum, who was a second-team all-conference selection with a 67.4% success rate along with grabbing 97 groundballs. Senior Jared Tavernite will step into that role after winning 73 of 110 attempts (66.4%) last year.

The mix of veteran returning players both on offense and defense along with a solid incoming freshman class means that the River Hawks should be right in the mix to contend for the Landmark Conference championship this year.

Catholic has won the most Landmark titles (4) and this upcoming season will be one of changes and challenges as they look to add another championship. Jon Sax left after three very successful years (2 titles and an 18-2 record in the Landmark conference with a 27-16 overall record against the toughest out-of-conference schedule of all Landmark teams). New coach Peter Donley, a Susquehanna '14 alum, takes over the head coaching job after stops at Roanoke, Penn State and Dickinson as an assistant.

Catholic graduated 19 seniors and the majority of them were major contributors in 2023. The Cardinals lose a lot of their offensive production but do return two of the best attackmen in the conference. First-team all-conference junior Victor Rosado, with 37 goals and 32 assists, will be a candidate for Offensive Player of the Year. And right with him is junior Fitz McLaughlin, who poured in 39 goals along with 5 assists last season. There are a few returning players who logged some time last year vying for the third spot on this talented attack line, including Danny Fitzgibbons.

Midfield has always been a strong part of Catholic's offense and this year will be no exception, even though second-team all-conference middie Connor Pierce (23 G, 4 A) and Luke D'Ambrogi (12 G, 15 A) have graduated. D'Ambrogi stays on as an assistant coach in 2024. Mike Mulligan, Matt Shandley, Luke Geraghty, Liam O'Neil, Connor McDonough and Brady McMahon all saw significant minutes last year. Chris McCabe transfers in from Salve Regina and could also be in the mix for a spot in the midfield.

The defense should be very solid this year. Junior Mike Tayloe and sophomore Sam Pikul were both second-team all-conference selctions last year. Several poles will contribute to this unit including Brendan Scott (back for a fifth year), Andrew Walsh, Brendan Falatko and Matt Ford. Catholic also has always fielded strong defensive middies and long poles and, even though second-team all conference SSDM Collin Stein and LSM Andrew Kearns have graduated, there will be several players ready to step up to fill these spots, including Mason Russo.

At face-off, Ryan Macksoud took almost 100 draws with a 61% success rate last year and he will most likely take over for the graduated Cooper DiCiccio.

The most interesting question mark for Catholic will be who takes over for first-team all-conference goalie Nic Pezone, who has started since his freshman year (51 games) and been selected to three all-conference teams. The Cardinals bring in two freshmen keepers from eastern Pennsylvania with very solid high school and club resumes. Billy Carney from West Chester Bayard Rustin and Tyler Merchant from the Perkiomen School by way of Florida will battle it out to determine who gets the start. Having that very strong defensive unit in front of them should ease their transition to the college game.

Catholic will again face a demanding out-of-conference schedule with games against Stevenson, Franklin & Marshall, Cabrini and Salisbury but that will set them up for a strong run to try and earn a fifth Landmark championship.

Moravian has continued to improve since joining the Landmark Conference in 2008 and fell short of making the playoffs last year. A significant number of starters and contributors return this season and, with the expansion of the conference to ten teams this year, the Greyhounds are poised to make the playoffs for the first time since 2021 when all six teams that played that season were invited.

The offense will certainly run through the attack, led by senior Trevor Dzama, who scored 20 goals and chipped in 37 assists, sophomore Vincent Devito (29 G, 10 A) and the return for a graduate year by Connor James, who was limited to just 10 games last year due to injury, but still managed to put in 23 goals along with 7 assists. James needs just 4 goals to become the all-time Moravian goal scorer and 39 points to become the all-time leader in that category. Senior Brennan Fluehr adds his experience to this unit and should see the field often.

The middies are led by second-team all-conference junior Aaron Judge, who led the team in goals last year with 35. He will be joined by juniors Dan Kelly, Steven Salica and Nick Sullivan, along with senior Joey Furino.

On defense, Jason Levy, who gathered in 34 groundballs and caused 18 turnovers, will spearhead that unit. Also returning will be James Panico (21 GB, 11 CT), Austin Hittle (28 GB, 9 CT) and Matt Baer (28 GB, 5A), bringing a lot of field experience to the defense. A solid group of defensive middies, led by Kyle Weiss and Aden Moskovitz, return to make defense a strength for the Greyhounds in 2024.

Junior Gannon Mesko returns as the faceoff specialist. He won 53% of his draws with 71 groundballs and should match up well in all of his conference games.

In goal, junior Thomas Lee has started 26 games in the past two seasons and brings that experience to the cage.

Coach Dave Carty returns for his 9th season and welcomes back 31 returning players along with a solid group of 15 incoming freshmen. The Greyhounds should be in the playoff mix at the end of the regular season.

Goucher will continue on the resurrection comebak under veteran coach Kyle Hannan and looks to have an uphill climb in 2024. Graduation takes away six starters, including goalie Justin Lugo, with 170 saves and a 56% save percentage. and attackman Ben Smith, who had 37 goals and 14 assists.

Returning at attack is Landmark conference Rookie of the Year Jacob Morgan, who led the team with 57 points. Also returning are middies Milan Temple (24 G, 6 A) and Jack McDermott (16 G, 5 A). Coach Hannan has brought in some interesting transfers who might step in and contribute right away on the offensive end.

Probably the best player on the team is defenseman Sean Nolan. He had 63 groundballs and caused 35 turnovers as well as taking some runs on the man-up offense and scoring 5 goals. DJ Barnes (39 GB, 12 CT) and NIck Gambone (25 GB, 14 CT) started last year and will join Nolan to provide the Gophers with a solid defense in 2024.

Three goalies, including two freshmen, will vie to replace Lugo and a new face-off specialist still needs to be found.

With the expansion of the playoffs to six teams this year, Goucher will look to compete for the #5 or #6 seed and make the playoffs for the first time since 2018, when they lost to Elizabethtown 9-5 in the semifinals.
